Chapter 3 Future World

Hungry.

Very hungry.

When Chopin woke up from hibernation, his first feeling was the hunger in his stomach. There seemed to be a black hole, howling in greed and despair: So hungry.

He tried to push open the lid of the hibernation chamber, but pushed it twice, and did not move at all.

Then he remembered that in order to prevent hibernation from being interrupted, the hibernation chamber designed a lock switch, which required six locks to be opened before they could be pushed open. So he bent up and unbuttoned six locks one by one like shrimps.

In this process, reason gradually returns, "I am still alive", these four words enter the brain.

Then there is some other message, ‘The body and limbs are safe and sound’ ‘It has not turned into tofu?’ ‘But why are they still locked in the hibernation warehouse?’ ‘No one saves me?’

Information flowed into the brain, but in the next moment, it was swallowed up by a powerful feeling of hunger that was like wildfire.

The body is calling the police: You must find a bite of food, just a sip of water, otherwise you will die!

‘Boom’.

The stainless steel coffin lid slides down to the ground.

When Chopin crawled out of the hibernation warehouse, he took a look at the timer in the warehouse. This was the atomic clock he specially customized before hibernation. The entire clock was centered on three microchips, plus some supporting electronics and optical components, and the operating power was only 275 milliwatts.

The atomic clock is still alive, and the screen shows the limit number such as ‘9999.365.24.60.60’.

What does this mean?

The stiff brain takes some time to react. While crawling out of the coffin, Chopin pondered about the scenery he saw.

On the atomic clock, the first column is counting the year, the second column is counting the day, the third column is counting the time, the fourth column is counting the points, and the fifth column is counting the seconds.

In other words, now the time scale is 9999 years, 365 days and 24 hours after he entered hibernation?

A little incredible.

No, it should be said that it was completely beyond expectations!

Is the clock broken?

Chopin looked at the atomic clock again and found that the numbers on the clock suddenly jumped, and then showed a strange smile symbol, similar to this: ‘~-~’.

Then it jumps back to ‘0000.000.00.00.00’, and starts to re-time from the last digit seconds.

It's really broken.

Chopin breathed a sigh of relief.

As I was overwhelmed by a strong sense of hunger again.

The basement was dark and several emergency lights were not turned on.

Chopin had to remove the broken atomic clock to serve as a faint light source.

He walked around the entire basement about a hundred meters square space, which was filled with nitrogen tanks, input circuits for diesel generators and solar power generators, as well as some decaying medical equipment and medicines.

After careful look, various transmission lines have also decayed. When you touch them with your hands, the shell will peel off, and the copper core inside will be broken into slag.

How long have I hibernated?

Even the copper has been decayed?

If the power supply line has decayed, how does the hibernation chamber maintain low temperatures?

Why am I still full of limbs and can still think, but not dead yet?

And, the pain seems to be gone?

All these thoughts were gone in the screams of thunder in their belly.

Of course, there will be no food in the entire basement. Even in Chopin's estimated shortest hibernation period, that is, the "ten years", no food will survive.

In addition, if you don’t take care of yourself after you wake up, you also need to find food by yourself. Chopin thinks he can’t wake up at all.

But this strange situation did happen at this moment.

Driven by hunger, Chopin began to try to walk out of the basement.

In order to facilitate searchers to find themselves, only one safety door is installed in the basement. For the sake of safety, the safety door uses mechanical braking, which is the traditional winch transmission.

Chopin used the winch's turntable to hold his stomach, which also relieved his hunger, and then he pulled the winch hard.

The alloy-made winch is not as decay as copper wire. This is good news. If the winch is broken, Chopin will be trapped in the basement.

The security door was lifted up by about fifty centimeters, and a little light from outside shone in, as if the morning light had cut through the darkness, making Chopin's heart lit up, and he hurriedly stuffed the atomic clock into...well, pocket?

Even the copper wire was decayed for a long time, Chopin's clothes were naturally hard to escape. Now he wanted to leave the basement and put the atomic clock in his pocket. Chopin realized that he had not worn anything and was as naked as if he had just been reincarnated into the human world.

Atomic clock: ‘0~0’.

Chopin picked up the atomic clock, and the numbers on the atomic clock jumped back to all of them being ‘0’, and counted them again.

"You... are broken?" Chopin didn't know how to describe this clock. He just wanted to say 'You have become a spirit', but he also felt it was too nonsense.

Atomic clock: ‘0000.000.42.42.’

Chopin always felt that it was saying something, but maybe time has come to this point.

Gululu~

The violent intestinal rumbling made Chopin focus all his attention in his stomach.

Hurt crazy.

No matter that much.

Chopin bent down, chased the light, and left the basement.

There is a steep slope gradually rising from the basement to the ground. The cement pavement that is paved with steep slopes has decayed and cracked. Chopin noticed that the decay here is many times worse than that in the basement, and some places are even as crisp as eggshells.

How long have I hibernated?

This doubt came to my mind again.

With this doubt, I climbed up to the ground and there was a roller shutter door at the entrance, which was similar to the entrance of the underground garage. It was originally intended to transport various experimental equipment into the basement.

Now, the roller shutter door made of aluminum sheet is still standing upright, but the transmission device is damaged. Chopin stepped on the roller shutter door and the entire roller shutter door fell to the ground with a foot.

Chopin finally saw the future sky.

This future is a bit weird.

There is a house in front of Chopin.

This house is no different from when Chopin bought this yard.

Chopin even entered the house and found traces of his former residence, including several clothes in the closet. While wearing clothes, he fell into great confusion.

This is unreasonable, why the clothes in the basement have decayed, and the clothes in this house are still as new as if they have been less than a few months since the day he hibernated.

Time... Thinking of time, Chopin took a look at the atomic clock again, and saw that the time displayed on the atomic clock had become ‘0000.112.10.43.21’.

"What does it mean?" Chopin didn't understand at all.

I can't figure it out because I'm so hungry.

My stomach was screaming again.

Chopin felt like his stomach was burning.

The hunger made him unable to continue thinking.

He began to search the house, the refrigerator was empty and the kitchen was not even dripping. He clearly remembered that there were a few packs of instant noodles in the cabinet, but he couldn't find anything.

Can't stand it anymore!
