Chapter 188: The East Room of the Burial Lady

The cleaning work of the main tomb chamber went very smoothly.

After a delicious meal, everyone went back to work the next day.

It took two groups of archaeological teams a total of fifteen days to clean and collect all the funerary objects in the main tomb, including the pile of decaying screens.

After the main tomb was cleaned, let alone the coffin in the center of the tomb that was so decayed that only a few traces of decay were left.

Even the sand, gravel and soil that seeped into the main tomb chamber have been cleaned up.

Until this point, the cleaning work of the main tomb chamber is not complete.

After the main tomb chamber was cleaned, only the east and west side chambers and the rear storage chamber were left in the tomb.

Moreover, these three tomb chambers are all connected through the main tomb chamber.

The afternoon of November 2nd.

The Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Social Sciences and the Guangzhou Institute of Archeology held a team meeting together.

The focus of the discussion was to determine the next excavation and cleaning work for the east and west chambers and the rear storage chamber.

Since the three tomb chambers are not large, many people cannot participate in the excavation together.

Therefore, after discussion at the meeting, Professor Li and Director Fu agreed that the three tombs should be excavated and cleaned at the same time.

This is the most efficient solution.

In the east side room, a team led by Professor Li and four researchers from the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Social Sciences were responsible for cleaning and excavation.

In the west chamber, Director Fu led a team and four researchers from the Guangzhou Institute of Archeology to clean and excavate.

In the rear storage room, Kong Jianwen led a team and two researchers from the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Social Sciences and two researchers from the Guangzhou Institute of Archeology to clean and excavate.

There is no other way, the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Social Sciences is really full of big guys, and the two leaders who came here are both capable of leading a team.

He also has rich experience in the excavation of Qin and Han tombs.

Of course, in addition to the excavation personnel, the three archaeological teams will also be assigned a photographer to completely record the entire process of excavation and cleaning work.

In the future, maybe the material captured by these photographers will become a certain issue of "Exploration and Discovery".

"The mysterious tomb of South Vietnam!"

But these things are not something Chen Han and other archaeological workers should worry about.

...

On November 3, the cleanup work officially began.

The first step in the work is not to clean up the cultural relics in the room, but to put up wooden boards.

In order to facilitate the staff to move around indoors and facilitate cleaning work.

Chen Han and the others took a lot of wooden boards and used them to build a shelf inside the tomb.

To put it simply, in the passage from the main tomb chamber to the side chamber, a horizontal board is extended into the side chamber, and then a wooden board is erected to the north and south ends, running through the whole chamber.

This way everyone can stand on the wooden board when cleaning.

After setting up the wooden planks, Chen Han followed Professor Li and started cleaning the east room step by step from south to north.

The east room is located to the east of the main room and is symmetrical to the west room. The room is rectangular from north to south, with an aisle in the middle connected to the main room.

When this tomb was discovered, part of the roof stone of the east chamber was revealed during excavation at the construction site.

From the gaps between some of the roof stones, you can get a glimpse of some of the interior furnishings.

The bronze tripod that Director Fu saw at that time was in the east chamber.

So even before the cleaning of the main tomb chamber was completed, everyone knew what was going on.

There is a high probability that high-ranking nobles are buried in the east chamber.

As the tomb of Zhao Hu, King Wen of South Vietnam, what kind of high-ranking nobles could be buried with him and buried in a side room?

Obviously, there is only one possibility.

They are his wives and concubines.

According to the funeral customs of the Western Han Dynasty, the queens of princes and kings were usually not buried together with the princes and kings. They were usually buried opposite each other.

For example, the famous Liang Wang Liu Wu, the brother of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty and the greatest contributor to the Seven Kingdoms Rebellion.

This clan member of the Han Dynasty is very single-minded emotionally.

He only loves his own queen all his life.

His children were all born to the queen.

The love between the two is a model among the princes and kings of the Western Han Dynasty, very romantic.

However, his and the queen's tombs were built next to each other, and they did not die in the same cave.

In order to meet the queen after his death, he dug an underground passage between his royal tomb and the queen's tomb.

It is convenient for their souls to have a tryst after death.

So did the emperors.

Next to the imperial mausoleums of the emperors of the Western Han Dynasty, there are usually the mausoleums of empresses and the mausoleums of important ministers who died during their reign.

From this we can see that the princes, kings and emperors of the Western Han Dynasty were not buried in the same mausoleum as their queens.

And it’s not just the Western Han Dynasty.

From the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, monarchs and their wives were always buried in separate caves.

Therefore, the person buried in the east chamber with Zhao Hu, King Wen of South Vietnam, was obviously not his queen.

It could only be his wife.

Before Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty Liu Che did not reform the harem system.

The composition of the harem in the Western Han Dynasty was the same as that in the Qin Dynasty, with one queen at the highest level and three wives at the second level.

Next, there are no numbers for beauty, beloved, eight sons, seven sons, long envoys, and little envoys.

Judging from the situation of the old Zhao family who arrogantly proclaimed himself emperor, all domestic institutions were compared to the emperor.

No matter whether he used the Qin system or the harem system of the early Western Han Dynasty.

In addition to the queen, the king of Nanyue must have three wives in his harem.

Although "Madam" sounds like the meaning of the head wife, in fact at that time, she was still a concubine.

Since she is a concubine, she can naturally be buried with the king.

Although she is a concubine, the status of a king's concubine is different from that of an ordinary noble.

According to the situation in the Han Dynasty, the status of a wife was equal to that of princes and kings.

The national power of South Vietnam was not as good as that of the Central Government of the Western Han Dynasty, but as the wife of Emperor Wen, she would definitely have many burial objects.

Professor Li, Chen Han and others came to the east room with passionate hearts.

"The indoor length is 6.95 meters, the width is 1.61 meters, and the height is 2.24 meters."

"The indoor floor is paved with wooden boards, which have decayed and the remaining wood marks are clearly visible."

"Five roof stones were laid flat on the stones on both sides of the wall. The first stone from the south and the second stone were broken. The fourth and sixth stones at the head of the east wall were broken and fell into the tomb. Some of the funerary vessels were buried.

Smashed."

"During the previous construction, the first stone and the second stone were excavated. Only through the gap between the two stones can we see the indoor situation."

Zhuang Yunpeng took a soft ruler, measured the tomb chamber up and down, and reported to Professor Li seriously.

After nodding absently, Professor Li turned on the light and looked around the room.

A little different than expected.

When I opened the door to the main tomb, I discovered that the tomb had been flooded by water many times.

The worst time was when the tomb was completely filled with water.

Although there are aisles between the main tomb chamber and the east and west chambers, there is no tomb door.

Maybe it was to facilitate the passage of the soul of the tomb owner.

This also caused the water to easily flood the east room.

After being flooded by stagnant water many times, the interior on the east side was in a mess.

The places where various funerary objects were placed were all messed up by the water, and there was no pattern at all.

When you first see it, it's a messy situation.
