Chapter 228: The excavation project that has risen to the national level

As to whether the hometown of Haihun Hou Kingdom is in the new area of Nanchang, archaeological evidence has actually appeared long ago.

After the water level of Poyang Lake dropped in 2006, in 2007, the Nanchang and Jiangxi archaeological teams unearthed several ancient tombs in Nanchang.

On the bamboo slips and tomb bricks in these tombs, the word "Haihun" appeared one after another.

First of all, in an ancient tomb of the Eastern Jin Dynasty discovered in September 2007, a cultural relic was found that recorded the identity of the tomb owner. The identity of the tomb owner was identified as Qi Duwei of Haihun County. This is the first discovery that can prove the existence of the ancient city of Haihun.

of real objects.

Then in December of that year, in a medium-to-large tomb from the Six Dynasties period, the words "Haihun County of Yuzhang Kingdom" appeared on three tomb bricks at the door of the back room of the tomb.

This shows that the legendary Haihun Kingdom is located in this basin on the west bank of Poyang Lake.

The tomb of "Haihun County Cavalry Captain" aroused heated discussion at that time.

Some experts speculate that after Liu He was stripped of his title of King of Changyi and demoted to Marquis of Haihun, he lived in the ancient Han Dynasty city [Purple Gold City] on the shore of Poyang Lake in Xinjian District, Nanchang. There is still a local saying of "imperial fief".

The location of [Purple Gold City] was quickly determined by archaeologists.

Just northeast of the now discovered Tomb of Haihunhou in Dundun Mountain, you can reach a place called Taojia Village after driving for about ten minutes.

Behind Taojia Village, in a lush bamboo forest, there are some mud walls about two people high.

After visits by archaeologists, it is basically certain that this is the ruins of the city wall where loess was accumulated.

Even the city gate has been preserved.

According to a local villager named Tao, he has known about the ancient city wall behind his home since he was a child. When he was a child, he used to play here with his friends in the village.

At that time, you could often pick up porcelain shards and tiles in the fields...

Because it is located in a remote area and has never been taken seriously by the government, it has never been developed.

After the arrival of the three archaeological teams, the exploration of the city wall was quickly launched.

Experts from the Jiangxi Institute of Archeology discovered some very special phenomena during their exploration.

This ancient ruins, which is suspected to be Zijin City, should have two walls, namely the outer city wall and the inner city wall.

This kind of city structure will not appear in ordinary county towns.

Only when the princes enfeoffed the country and the princes and kings enfeoffed the country would there be this kind of two-wall structure.

Because the inner city is the palace of the princes, or the palace of the princes and kings!

At that time, ordinary civilians could only move outside the first city wall and had no way to enter the core area of the inner city.

Moreover, in the location of the inner city, there are also the remains of the foundations of the palace area, indicating that the inner city here was once a large palace area.

The steps into the palace area and the high-rise buildings in the palace area all have traces of their remains!

After discovering the palace area in the inner city, we can basically confirm that this ancient city ruins should be Zijin City, the capital of the Haihun Kingdom.

In the Nanchang area, west of Poyang Lake, there is only one Haihun Kingdom that can compete with this site.

It was confirmed that the ruins of Zijin City were the old capital of Haihunhou Kingdom.

There is no doubt that this large tomb with a complete cemetery structure on Kuquau Mountain at the southwest end of Zijin City is the tomb of Haihunhou!

Once this discovery was reported, it caused a sensation in the domestic archaeological community.

Even the newly identified archaeological excavation of the Western Han Dynasty Haihunhou Tomb in Nanchang was immediately elevated to the national level and ranked as the most important archaeological project in the country this year.

Experts and scholars from all over the country were quickly transferred to Nanchang to provide various technical and academic support around this important tomb of the princes!

After becoming the "National Title", the treatment of Chen Han and his group of archaeologists who were actually responsible for excavating the tomb was immediately different.

Large tracts of prefabricated houses began to be constructed near Dundun Mountain.

The cemetery needs to occupy an area of about 10,000 square meters, and a protective shed must be built for it according to the square footage.

It can be said that the entire project is aimed at building an archaeological base for long-term archaeology.

In fact, it must be done.

Because the cemetery of Haihunhou Tomb is really well preserved.

Experts agree that the capital of the Haihunhou Kingdom, represented by Zijin City, and the tomb area represented by the Haihunhou Tomb of the Western Han Dynasty in Nanchang are the most complete tomb areas discovered in my country!

Moreover, it is also the settlement site of the Hou Kingdom in the Han Dynasty with the clearest layout of the capital of the Hou Kingdom!

This is an important national historical and cultural heritage and the most unique site for studying the history of the Western Han Dynasty!

Although such a site is not as important as the Yin Ruins, it is not inferior to some large-scale tribal sites in the Neolithic period.

This means that the ruins of the Haihun Kingdom with Zijin City as the center will be an important site base in Jiangxi that requires long-term archaeology.

Just like the Lajia ruins in Qinghai, tens of thousands of square meters have been excavated so far, but excavations are still continuing and an archaeological base has been established.

The ruins of the Haihun Kingdom, the city site plus the tomb area, as well as the civilian and noble tomb areas discovered around it, cover an area of more than ten square kilometers.

To completely excavate it will obviously require a long period of archaeological work lasting ten years.

Therefore, the construction of some supporting facilities required for long-term archaeology must be stepped up.

As many as hundreds of experts and scholars studying the archeology of the Han Dynasty from all over the country rushed to Nanchang and began to conduct exploration and preliminary archaeological work on this large settlement site.

Excavation work began simultaneously at the Zijin City site, the cemetery area, the noble and general burial areas.

Throughout the construction site, there were thousands of people participating in and joining this large-scale archaeological project.

Of course, the most important tomb No. M1, that is, the tomb of Haihunhou on Dundun Mountain, is still being carried out by a joint archaeological team composed of the Jiangxi Institute of Archeology, the Nanchang Institute of Archeology, and the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Social Sciences.

Archaeological excavations.

but!

In view of the importance of this archaeological discovery, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage quickly proposed that Jiangxi's excavation, protection and display work should "represent the first-class archaeological level in China today, the first-class cultural relic protection level in China today, and the first-class cultural relic protection level in China today."

First-class presentation level”.

After several meetings, the archaeological team decided to put on-site cultural relic protection and on-site safety first, maximize the use of high-tech means to extract and record cultural relic information, and provide scientific and accurate information for the protection, display and utilization of large sites.

General idea of work.

Therefore, the main tomb of Marquis Haihun cannot be opened hastily.

We have to wait for a series of high-tech archaeological equipment to be put in place, for the on-site protection shed and even the indoor cultural relics research room to be built before we can start excavation.

Therefore, the excavation work of the main tomb chamber, which had been excavated except for the roof cover, was temporarily stopped, waiting for the safety protection and on-site cultural relics protection during construction.

However, the archaeological team cannot remain idle.

The main tomb cannot be excavated for the time being. This does not mean that the ancillary tombs except Tomb M1 and the chariot pits next to it cannot be excavated!

right!

As everyone intensified the intensity of archaeological exploration, another chariot and horse burial pit was discovered next to the tomb chamber of Tomb M1!

Chen Han’s guess that Haihun Hou would be buried with real chariots and horses is true!

This is the first time a high-end tomb with real chariots and horses has been found south of the Yangtze River!

One word.
