Chapter 41 A nobleman who has a car and a house but no wife

"Okay, Junior Brother Chen also has research on seal script."

Su Sa, who heard Chen Han whispering to himself, raised her thumbs up and said affirmatively: "The inner world is clear and bright, and the brilliance is like the sun and the moon."

"This is a dazzling mirror of the Western Han Dynasty!"

Chen Han nodded.

Zhaoming Mirror is a bronze mirror of the Western Han Dynasty that was popular between Emperor Xuan of the Western Han Dynasty and Wang Mang.

The reason why this kind of mirror is called the Ming Mirror is that the inscriptions of this type of mirror are "clear and clear inward, and the glory is like the sun and the moon, and the heart suddenly rises and is willing to be loyal, but it is merciless and not reveals."

The general meaning is to use the mirror to describe people, and use the pure quality and light of the mirror to imply that the master also needs to be clean and honest in his governance and be honest in his people.

However, generally speaking, there are not all inscriptions on bronze mirrors, and some characters are filled with a symbol of "and" between them.

For example, the Zhaoming mirror unearthed from tomb No. M-105 has only half a sentence, and it has slightly changed one or two words.

The Zhaoming mirror in Chen Han's hand is the same as the common standard.

Each character inscription in this mirror is also separated by a pattern like the word "典".

"It's a pity that the owner of this tomb is a single tomb. If it's a couple burying the tomb together, maybe a clear mirror can be produced." Chen Han shook his head with a pity.

During the Western Han Dynasty, there were two types of bronze mirrors with inscriptions, which were very popular among the nobles.

One is this Zhaoming Mirror, which is specially used for men to bury.

Another type is an innocent mirror used to bury aristocratic women, or to give women a deceased husband to bury them.

The reason why it is called the Qingyuan Mirror is that there are usually inscriptions on this kind of mirror: "The pure and innocent serves the king, the resentment and defamation of the wise, the flow of mysterious tin, the beauty and prosperity of the capital, the acceptance of the outside world, and I wish to think forever without ending."

Specifically on each mirror, the inscription may be a little surprised, a few more words or fewer words, or a few more words.

But the overall meaning is the same, probably to ask women to serve the king with their innocence and to speak of their longing and never forget each other.

Most of this kind of innocence mirror was unearthed in the tombs of couples. It is generally hoped that after death, they would not forget each other and love each other again.

Of course, there was no such saying in the Han Dynasty that a monogamous wife had to end up together and that a husband would have to live a widow after his death.

Even the government encourages women to remarry.

Therefore, many innocent mirrors were unearthed in male tombs, and the last sentence in the inscription, "I wish to think forever but not to be eliminated" was changed to "I think forever and never be eliminated".

The meaning goes from the original "Never forget each other" to the separation of yin and yang, and the separation of kindness.

This shows that this kind of mirror may be a "death mirror" given to her husband by a woman.

My husband is dead and I am still young, so we will break off our kindness. You will find a good wife in the next life. I will marry someone else first. Don’t worry!

Therefore, during the Western Han Dynasty, it was basically standard for the nobles to bury two mirrors when they were buried.

Of course, in addition to these two types of mirrors, there are also sunlight mirrors, appearance mirrors, Weiyang mirrors, etc., but the number of these mirrors unearthed is not as large as that of the Zhaoming mirrors and the Qingyin mirrors.

In the past century, many Zhaoming and Qingbai Mirrors have been unearthed, and each of them has to have more than a dozen preserved in museums in various places, which are considered a typical burial object of the Western Han Dynasty.

This time, a dazzling mirror was found in the tomb of M-105, which is reasonable.

Moreover, as a single tomb, this tomb has only one bright mirror and no clear mirror is seen. It is possible that the owner of the tomb is a noble who died young.

And it is very likely that his wife remarried after he died.

Otherwise, even if you die young, according to the Han Dynasty's custom of burial, you should be buried with the tomb owner when your wife dies in the future.

Unless the wife remarries and goes to the same cave as others.

After understanding this, Chen Han's eyes at the coffin in the center of the tomb became a little complicated.

"This tomb owner is a bit miserable."

"What's so miserable?" Lin Ya, who was cleaning the chariot and horse equipment, retorted without looking back: "Look, this complete chariot and horse equipment has one piece, four pieces of stewards, two pieces of instruments, one piece of shaft decoration, one piece of bow cap, one piece of chariot and one piece of chariot."

"This is a complete set of carriage accessories. In the Western Han Dynasty, the family conditions are much better than those who have cars and houses now!"

Ancient people also paid attention to having cars and houses, but the status of horse-drawn carriages in the Western Han Dynasty and modern cars was different.

Cars are a symbol of noble status.

During the East and West Zhou Dynasty, those who were not a great noble could not bury carriages and horses, and the use of carriages and burial carriages had strict hierarchy regulations.

Although as the rituals collapsed and the music became worse and the society progressed, the carriage gradually descended to a lower level of aristocratic level, it was not easy to obtain.

Although the tomb owner lived in between Emperor Xuan of Han and Wang Mang, it was extraordinary that he could be buried with chariots, horses and tools during this period.

Chen Han touched his chin and smiled: "This tomb owner had a car and a house before his lifetime, and his conditions were indeed very good."

"But he has no wife. Look, how miserable it will be after death?"

Lin Ya looked dark and couldn't keep up with Chen Han's jumping thoughts.

Is it important to have a wife, or whether she has a wife to be buried with her?

Well, it seems to be very important.

It doesn't matter to modern people, but it seems to be a bit cruel to the Han people who died just like a matter of life.

In order to continue to be in love with his wife after death.

After a lot of effort, a "Loves Path" was dug in the middle of the tomb of King Xiao of Liang and the tomb of Queen of Liang.

It was just that King Xiao of Liang died a little suddenly. Before this path was built, he hurried down to accompany his wife.

But this also shows how much attention the Western Han people attached to the world after death.

As a result, the owner of the tomb of Tomb No. M-105 was buried alone in a miserable way, and he was not accompanied by his wife and relatives.

From the perspective of the Western Han people, the soul of the tomb owner was so lonely here after his death. Maybe he could only cry in the coffin every day.

Thinking of this, this little nobleman who had a carriage in his life and lived a luxurious and enjoyable life may have been a bit miserable after his death.

"Speaking of this, when this tomb pit was built, there was a space for burial together?"

Chen Han held his chest with his hands, walked around the tomb pit, and said with some uncertainty: "This tomb chamber is 3.9 meters long and 1.9 meters wide."

"It is normal to reserve a little length, it is reserved for funeral objects."

"But this width is a bit too wide. The tomb owner's coffin is only 0.7 meters wide. The 1.9 meters wide is more than enough to plug two coffins."

"It seems that when this tomb was built, I originally planned to be a joint tomb, but later, the wife of the tomb owner was not buried with him for some unknown reason."

Chen Han smashed it, smashed it, and sighed quite a bit.

"Tsk tsk, choose a good day to open the coffin."

"It is best to find a funeral object that proves his identity."

"Whether it's the seal or the bamboo slips that record your life."

"At least let us descendants know who his surname is and what he has done."

"Otherwise, no one will know or remember this short life he has worked hard to live."
