Chapter 45 The Black Cat (Continued)

ps: There is another update later, sorry...

Starting from July 5, 1944, Aiden went to The Hague to negotiate an armistice agreement with Germany. Before the negotiations with Germany, Britain had already reached an agreement with France and Italy. The conditions with Germany were basically agreed. In order to form mutual trust, the two sides also implemented some agreements first: Britain and Germany stopped air strikes from each other (in fact, Britain had no fuel, so Germany agreed to stop air strikes), Britain delivered two newly completed aircraft carriers of the Heiqiu class (The Heiqiu and the Undevoted) and repatriated more than 300 captured German pilots, Germany repatriated the first batch of 50,000 British troops and agreed to open a food purchase license.

These measures greatly demonstrated the easing of British-German relations. After the Black Cat's speech and the related food ship arrived in the UK, British society began to basically stabilize, but there were three problems between Britain and Germany:

The first is the Pakistan issue. This is what the British people are most concerned about. Although the UK is quite tempted by the conditions proposed by Japan, it still hopes that Germany will help to suppress the price.

The second is the issue of American captives. The British side believes that this is not a German prisoner of war, but this is the American troops seized because of the US military's participation in the internal affairs of Britain. The implication is quite considering using this group of troops to exchange for interests from the United States, but Hoffman obviously would not agree to let the 100,000 people return to the United States.

The third is a package of overseas territories such as South Africa, Newfoundland, and British Guiana.

On July 9, news came from Tokyo that the Japanese base camp was willing to make appropriate concessions on the Pakistan issue. After Kerr's mediation, the conditions were modified include:

1.5 Axis-class aircraft carriers were changed to 4 Giant-class aircraft carriers (the UK started construction in total, of which 2 were given to Italy and the remaining 4 were given to Japan), but Japan required to pay alternately with Italy (that is, the first one was given to Italy, the second one was given to Japan, the third one... and so on);

210 million tons of steel were changed to 5 million tons, but the proportion of special steel increased to 60%;

35 million tons of oil were cancelled (because the UK does not produce oil), and replaced it with 300 Lancaster and 200 mosquito bombers;

4. The delivery time for all equipment, warships and materials was compressed from 3 years to 2 years, and the time was calculated from August 15, 1944.

Aiden wanted to pay back the price again, and Ribintrov told him with a tough attitude: "This is the last condition for Japan and no further changes can be made, otherwise they will immediately seize the gold, silver and other materials stored on Pakistan to buy them from us."

Aiden had no choice but to agree.

Regarding Article 2, it seems to be somewhat unsolvable. Because the 100,000 US troops were not captured by the German army, and it is neither appropriate nor reasonable to hand over the German army to the German army to manage. The United States has issued a threat and will not allow Britain to hand over the United States troops stationed in Britain and the United States to Berlin. Otherwise, it will face revenge from Washington, but once it is released, it will be a problem. Attlee originally hoped to use these prisoners of war to exchange some practical interests from the United States, but now it seems not ideal.

Hoffman finally made an opinion: this group of American prisoners of war is still detained in the UK, and will be managed by British troops and the German troops that will be stationed in the UK. It will neither deliver it to the United States nor to Germany. After the peace between Germany and the United States is realized, the United Kingdom and the United States will continue to negotiate a release method and decide the ownership of interests.

After repeated discussions, this opinion was finally accepted.

The last one is a little trouble. Currently, there are 100,000 US troops in South Africa, nearly 30,000 British troops and 150,000 South African troops, totaling 300,000 troops. Due to the US's constrainment, the 30,000 British troops in South Africa have sworn allegiance to Qiu Ji's British government. The South African Federation, represented by Jan Christian Smozi (the rank of British Field Marshal), also refused to recognize the orthodox status of the London government.

So Hoffman's decision was simple: to defeat South Africa.

Due to the shortage of troops and logistics resources, the German army did not continue to move forward after taking over Madagascar, which gave the South African government a chance to breathe, and also allowed the US military to transport 100,000 troops and intensify the arming of South African troops. However, with the end of the Eastern Front Battle, the German army could free up its hands.

There is only one main problem that Ribbentrop is entangled with: How should the London government perform in the battle against South Africa?

He said to Aiden: "If South Africa uses German troops to defeat it, the German young man will die, and consume the strategic resources owned by Germany. How can the head of state explain to the people of the country?"

"Didn't you not take the occupation after driving away the Stalinic forces in the Eastern countries?"

“But the governments there are affiliated with or follow our route, or do we do the same in South Africa?”

"This..." Aiden dared not take on this matter. Once he took it, South Africa would become a vassal state of Germany instead of being controlled by Britain. However, it is unrealistic to ask Britain to send troops to attack and occupy South Africa. The British team does not have such strong strength and cannot withstand such protracted consumption.

In short, it is impossible for the UK to get South Africa from Germany to pay the price.

Forced to the point of helplessness, he could only ask: "What constructive opinions do you have?"

The first opinion put forward by Ribbintrov expanded the territory of Rhodesia: the German and French government communicated properly and would migrate more than 2 million African indigenous people on Madagascar to French Rhodesia.

Rhodesia was divided into two parts: North Rhodesia and South Rhodesia, and North Rhodesia basically included Zambia and Malawi. Germany took over the entire territory of Malawi and the northeast corner of Zambia, and merged into German East Africa together. Then it made part of Zambia a Jewish state, migrating the Jews on German territory to settle in the Jewish state.

At the same time, in order to attack British forces, Hoffman put forward the slogan of "marching towards Rhodesia" to European countries.

All major European powers, except Germany, have begun to snatch Rhodesia's territory: Portugal robbed approximately 100,000 square kilometers of Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) near Mozambique and formed Portuguese East Africa; Italy used Ethiopian troops and the passage opened by Germany to snatch nearly 70,000 square kilometers of land, forming 150,000 square kilometers of land in negotiations with Britain, forming Italian Rhodesia; Belgium robbed approximately 50,000 square kilometers of land in the northwest corner of Zambia and merged them into Belgium Congo; France used French West Africa and Central African troops to snatch nearly 70,000 square kilometers of land south, and now Germany supports it to expand it to 180,000 square kilometers, almost taking away most of the remaining Southern Rhodesia. This is also one of the conditions for the British and French ceased the war.

After this division, there is still about 120,000 square kilometers of land left in the remaining Southern Rhodesia.
