Chapter 60 Yang Tianwang and Master Zhu (1)
Northeast of Lushan, south of Yuping Mountain, behind Huxi Rock.
In the Bailu Cave Academy.
Today, the teachers and students of the academy bathed in vegetarian clothes, rinsed their mouths and faces, sat quietly on the cushion under the academy tree, waiting for the two masters to come and preach.
Because there are many people listening to the lecture, all the students sit in advance, fearing that they will be squeezed behind and will not hear the remarks of the two living saints.
Yang Yi sat upright on the side of the big tree in the yard, looking cross-legged, and saw many scholars holding their breath and concentrating with a solemn look. It seemed that the intention of studying was to be determined, and it was not easy to laugh at.
Knowledge has been through the ages and has the desire to study. Even if the direction is wrong, it is worthy of admiration.
There are two things in the world that cannot be ridiculed, one is the origin and the other is the dream.
Among these scholars, there are those who came to study from thousands of miles away, and there are also poor students nearby who climbed all the way to get here, just to listen to the master's explanation of the scriptures so that they can go further. This is already very admirable. Although Yang Yi did not think that after listening to the explanation, they could really achieve their wishes and fulfill their lifelong ambitions, they still dare not underestimate this spirit of study.
When the sun was rising and the golden light was everywhere, a professor knocked on the cloud board and coughed a few times. The students looked forward and saw several people slowly coming from the backyard. An old man in the middle, gray-haired, wearing an octagonal hat, and his face was very serious. He walked to the front of the stage under the guard of several old professors.
An old man said on the stage: "Mr. Wei Leweng was unable to teach the meaning of the scriptures because of his physical discomfort. Now only Mr. Zhen has preached the scriptures and solved the doubts for us." The white-haired old man came to the stage and bowed to salute, and the underground students also stood up to return the salute. After the ceremony, they each sat down.
The person on the stage is Zhendexiu, the master of Neo-Confucianism after Zhu Xi. This person sticks to the rules and lacks achievements. His understanding of Neo-Confucianism has always been Zhu Xi's style. He never dares to comment on his own and force himself to take a step forward. He can be said to be a conservative person and has no one's own opinion.
But because of this, he studied Zhu Xi's life works throughout his life, and his inheritance and understanding of the Neo-Confucianism of the Chinese people was far beyond ordinary people. He was a qualified communicator of Neo-Confucianism.
Yang Yi saw that he was in his fifties, with white hair and wrinkles on his face, and looked quite old.
The first book to be taught today is the Analects of Confucius. It quotes scriptures and is very organized. The scholars here find that his understanding is generally no different from the meanings of the scriptures taught by previous professors, but they are different in detail. The biggest difference is that everything is forced to be involved in Neo-Confucianism.
There have always been two ways for people from Confucianism to annotate the Six Classics. One is to me to annotate the Six Classics and the other is to annotate the Six Classics.
The so-called annotation of the Six Classics is to reduce your subjective views when annotating the classics, but to strictly interpret them according to the original text of the classics, and never exert too much self-exercise. The so-called "There is a classic that leads to the classics, and if there is a classic, there is no classic, there is a closed mouth. Never explain the sentences in the classics based on your own point of view.
The Six Classics Annotation I am while annotating the meaning of the Six Classics and Sutras, and extending it, based on the sentences in the classics to prove whether my ideas are correct, and using the sentences of ancient sages to explain my academic propositions.
What Zhen Dexiu said at this time was the method of annotating oneself in the Six Classics, and using the concepts of the Six Classics to illustrate Zhu Xi’s revised Neo-Confucian views at that time.
This person is knowledgeable and talented, and has great eloquence. He preaches and explains the scriptures and explains the truth. Yang Yi saw that he used the meaning of the scriptures to capture private goods and used the sentences of the wise as annotations of Neo-Confucianism. Although the truth is absurd, he could justify himself. He couldn't help but admire him: "If you do this kind of knowledge, you cannot do it if you are not a thick-skinned person!"
After hearing the end of the passage, the rest was when thinking. Some students agreed with Zhu Xi’s commentary on the Six Classics, believing that it was to express the truth that the ancients had not expressed and to spread the true knowledge of the sages. However, there were also people who had different opinions and naturally went to ask questions when they had time.
Putting aside character, just in terms of knowledge, there are very few people who have reached Zhu Xi's level since the Song Dynasty, and only Lu Jiuyuan can compare with him in the world. Lu Jiuyuan is the study of the mind and Zhu Xi is the study of Neo-Confucianism, and the two are good opponents.
However, now that Lu Jiuyuan is not here, Yang Yi knows that it is undoubtedly a fool to refute Zhu Xi based on his own knowledge. Even if he wants to refute his descendants of Neo-Confucianism, it is very difficult, and hesitates.
He is a person who is used to being proud of him. Only by defeating his opponent in the place where the enemy is best at and convincing the opponent's attacks, this is a real skill for him.
It’s like when he was fighting with Hong Qi, he used palm techniques to play against palm techniques, and stick techniques to play against stick techniques, which did not take any advantage of Hong Qigong. It’s like when he fought with Huang Yaoshi, it was also sword techniques to play against sword techniques, palm techniques to play against palm techniques. What kind of means does the enemy use, and what means he used to deal with it, and be sure to convince the other party and admire it, otherwise how could this show his ability of King Yang?
Last time, because he suffered a loss from Huang Yaoshi in music, he racked his brains to come up with a general order, and used the drum sound to match Huang Yaoshi's flute sound, and finally let out a breath. In his heart, even Huang Yaoshi may not be able to hold his full palm, but as long as he can't beat him in music, the other party would not be considered a loss. It was not until after a big drum was beaten on Peach Blossom Island that Yang Yi felt relieved and felt that he really beat Huang Yaoshi once.
There is no hesitation about the criminals who have taken a sword and killed them. However, for literati like Zhendexiu, killing them will not solve the problem at all. As long as the theory exists in the world, there will be successors. What's more, from the viewpoint of the Song Dynasty at this time, people did not violate the law and discipline. Even if private morality is damaged, they will not be punished to death. Even if Yang Yi wants to kill, he will be killed without name.
If he cut off his head without caring about anything, it would be no difficulty at all. But with his arrogance, how could he do this?
After thinking for a long time, he pondered for a moment and thought to himself: "With my many years of experience in the future, I don't believe that I can't beat him! If it really doesn't work, I can only call Huang Laoxie and let him argue with this person."
At that moment, a student squeezed into the crowd. After asking a question, he walked to Zhendexiu and said, "Zhendexiu, I have a few questions, please answer them."
The students present were furious when they saw him being careless and disrespectful, and called him the name of Zhendexiu, and they were furious: "You can also shout the name of Zhen Master? You don't know etiquette, don't know etiquette!"
Yang Yi smiled and said, "Oh? Did I call him wrong by calling him? Isn't this person called Zhendexiu?"
Zhendexiu looked up and saw Yang Yi standing in front of him, as if she had blocked the entire sunlight. She squinted her eyes and looked carefully, and said with a smile: "My name is indeed Zhendexiu. It's good to call me Zhendexiu." He smiled and said, "Young Master, please sit down!" He was not angry at all for Yang Yi's name just now.
Yang Yi sat cross-legged in front of him and said, "I have a few questions to ask for advice."
Zhendexiu reached out to inspire: "Please speak!"
Yang Yi asked, "I just heard the meaning of the sutra that my husband preached, which is quite inconsistent with the meaning of the sutra that I know. I wonder if the commentary of the sutra was commented by the original author or the comment made by the old man himself?"
Zhen Dexiu smiled and said, "What I just said is the content of the collection of the four sutras written by the ancestor himself. How dare I, a ignorant person, explain the meaning of the sages? It is naturally the teacher's views and knowledge."
Yang Yi nodded and said, "Master Zhu?" He sighed and asked, "How can Master Zhu dare to annotate the Six Classics? How could he know that the views he annotated at the beginning must be the views of the original author?"
Zhen Dexiu frowned and said, "My teacher is well-versed in ancient and modern times, and his wise men have learned the wonderful principles of studying things and learning. Although the wise men have a lot of meanings in the scriptures, they cannot help but not help him. He put himself in his shoes, put himself in his shoes and pondered them, and naturally he can interpret the true meaning of ancient sages one by one."
