Chapter 9 Lighting the Night Talk

On Tuesday the next day, our chief officer bought a few more pig bones from the place. I carried two payments and ran back to the breeding team. I looked around and saw no one on the left and right. With a snap, I chopped half of them and put them in a feed bag. I chopped the remaining one and half and threw them into the pot to light the fire. I picked up the feed bag, ran to the wall and threw it into the woods outside.

After I came back, I pulled the blower and added firewood to the bottom of the pot. It was almost done, so I told the squad leader and said to go to the service club. After changing my shirt, I walked around the wall, carrying pig bones and ran to the grid. This time I didn't rush to go out. I walked along the wall for a distance, cut down the thicker tree trunks that we usually renovated the power grid, and threw some out.

Since the nearby mountains were surrounded by us, firewood was a good thing for the people in the village outside. Our troops often had people in the place smashing holes in the wall and crawling in to chop firewood.

I used the same trick to lift the power grid and jumped out, carried a bag and dragged the tree trunk into the village with a packing rope. To be honest, there was no money at that time. Our subsidy for the second year was only 35 yuan. There was no way to get something for others, otherwise why would I be embarrassed?

When I knocked on the old man's door in sweat, I was shocked. I said I would give you some firewood to burn the fire. The old man and the old lady gave me in with great gratitude, and I took out the bones in the bag.

The old man was stunned and asked me what it meant.

"It's not interesting, this is for you. You can eat the ribs. The big bones are stewed and fed to the dog!" I raised my sleeves to wipe my sweat.

"Feel the dog?" The old man looked at me with a look of surprise.

"Well, feed the dog, it's easy to breastfeed." I took out a cigarette and handed it to the old man, and took one myself, and went to the doghouse to see my puppy.

I took out a pellet of feed from my pocket and threw it to the bitch. The little pug wags his tail and gets up to eat. I feel relieved when I see the little thing lying in the nest with a bulging belly.

The two old men strongly invited me into the house. The room was very short and the light bulb was probably not more than 15 watts. I sat on the side of the kang and chatted with the two old men.

"Young man, are you a soldier?" The old man's first words scared me.

"Oh? Why did you say that?" I stammered and didn't want to admit it.

"Haha, I am in my 80s, and the soldiers can tell at a glance when they walk and talk." The old man said with a smile.

"You have such a good eye." I smiled bitterly and flattered.

After the greetings, the words were not salty or unpretentious. What about "You are alive?" "Is it hard to be a soldier?" Just as I was about to lift my butt and leave, the old man suddenly said, "Young man, join the army here, so Dongpo should try to avoid it."

"Why?" I was intrigued. Did this old man know something? Looking back on his thrilling experience a few days ago, now he doesn't say it clearly, and he won't leave even if he chases me with a stick.

The old man didn't speak, so he lowered his head and started to roll a cigarette. I quickly took out one and handed it over to help him lit it.

The old man smoked a cigarette and said slowly, "Do you know what the name of this mountain is? What is our farm? What is the name of the river in front of the farm?"

"The mountain is called Qinglong Mountain, I don't know the two behind it," I shook my head and replied.

"Yes, the mountain is called Qinglong Mountain, my village is called Qinglong Village, and the river in front of the village is called Qinglong Bay."

"Why do you bring Qinglong with you? Old man, do you think there are really dragons?" I tried to ask.

"Yes, I've seen it yet!" The old man actually gave me a positive answer.

"What's it like?" I was even more excited. I didn't even see the shadow last time, so I was so scared that I ran away in panic.

"It's a long story. I was still a half-baby at that time. Old woman. When did we get engaged in this year?"

"In 29th, you were 13 years old that year, I was 12 years old, you had a small birthday, I was older, I was actually only three months younger than you." The old lady responded while brushing bowls in the outer room, and the old man said a lot.

"Yes, that year, and there wasn't a wall at that time. It was just that time. I remember that I was wearing a small jacket. At that time, I raised a few sheep at home. Don't underestimate these sheep. At that time, who had a few sheep that ate grass and milked in the village, and that day would not be sad. When I got engaged with the old woman that year, I forced my father to ask for two. Oh, it made my father feel sorry for me. I haven't fallen asleep for several days...

"What's wrong? Do you still regret it?" The old lady wiped her hands and held a half dustpan to fry peanuts and put them on the kang, and grabbed a handful for me.

"What do you regret? At that time, I secretly ran to your village to see you. You and your sister were washing clothes by the river. I couldn't figure out which one was you, so I looked carefully and they were all so handsome...

Damn, why is this dead old man able to go off topic than me? How did the dragon talk about the sheep? Seeing that the momentum is still showing signs of romance when I was young. I quickly pulled out a cigarette and handed it over.

The old man might also feel that he was saying far, so he hurriedly continued to say the following: "My sheep, we all like it as treasures..."

My God, why do you still say your sheep? I can't smile bitterly. Fortunately, the old man didn't go far away from the topic.

"Every morning, I drive to the mountain to eat grass, and then come back to drink in the afternoon. I don't dare to leave people. I'm going to be driven away. It's over. I have to watch. That morning, I drove my sheep up the mountain, and a few of them came. I think about it. There were originally six, so my father wanted to leave two, but then another one was set up..."

Oh my god, I'm going to get older, so don't do this.

I quickly interrupted him, "What happened later, Mr. Lao?"

"I drove the sheep to the south slope to eat grass, and I encountered a pillar that chops firewood. Old lady, do you remember the pillar?"

"Why don't you remember? Didn't it be that cripple man who was lying under our bed when we met our house?" The old woman seemed to blush a little.
