Chapter IX Counting the Origins

Seeing that it was still early, I pestered Ma Zizai: "I see you are like a mobile encyclopedia, you are like a hundred and old people in the world." While it is still early to the art of showing the soul you mentioned, can you tell me your story? I am very curious about him now.

"The opportunity between me and you has been mixed up by chance because of Mrs. Huang. Since you want to know me so much, I will tell you and let me know." Ma Zizai took the lead and came to the yard, brewed a pot of green tea, and told me.

Do you know Daoji? Ma Zizai always uses a guided approach to tell people things. It seems that he will answer other people's questions, and he will be greatly satisfied. After several days of contact, I have roughly understood his habits. In order for him to fully explain the inside story, he must cooperate with him perfectly?

"Oh? Daoji, are you talking about that crazy monk? He has played many movies and TV series, and it is Jigong, the one named Li Xiuxian!" I quickly catered to him.

"No, the Jigong you mentioned, and the common name of Jigong is not Li Xiuxian, but Li Xiuyuan." Old Man Ma corrected me.

"So who is it? Someone called Daoji?" I asked him with a desire for knowledge.

"It's true. Zhang Shuo during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty was called Daoji. This man's career was full of ups and downs and three of his career, and he assisted Emperor Xuanzong of Tang to achieve the prosperity of Kaiyuan, and presided over the Taishan Fengshan of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty.

"He is a great writer. When talking about his poetry, he may not know many people. When talking about allusions related to him, you must know."

I was attracted by his narrative. "What allusion?"

"When Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty was Fengshan, Zhang Shuo was the Fengshan envoy. According to convention, after Fengshan, all officials below the three dukes had to be promoted to one level. Zhang Shuo used his power to upgrade Zheng Yi, a son-in-law of a ninth rank, to the fifth rank, and gave him a rosy court wardrobe. Xuanzong feasted the ministers at a banquet. When he saw Zheng Yi, he asked him why he was promoted so quickly. Zheng Yi was speechless, and the actor Huang Fanchuo said, "This is all the credit of Mount Tai!" Later, people called his father-in-law Tai, and he still called him that now.

"Haha, it turns out that the father-in-law Taishan is such an origin." I suddenly realized, so, what is the connection between this Daoji and your story?

"Because he was passed down by word of mouth in this genre, he said that he was the first and only person who had seen a god." Ma Zizai stole tea and looked full of longing.

"Has he seen a god? Is there a god in this world?" I asked suspiciously.

"Don't use your limited time to speculate on this infinite universe. If you blindly observe the world with the so-called scientific perspective, then what explanation should Old Lady Huang be about? Old Man Ma asked back.

I spread my hands, "My opinion was indeed one-sided before."

After the Fengshan period of Mount Tai, Zhang said that in accordance with the order of Emperor Xuanzong Li Longji, he wrote "Four Taoist poems written by the Imperial Order", which truly recorded the process of meeting immortals. Ma Zizai raised the tea bowl, moistened his voice, and began to recite it in a low voice:

First one:

The golden hall begins its dawn, and the true energy is slightly solemn.

The moon holds the fairy's shadow, and the first cloud brushes the feathered clothes.

The fragrance follows the Dragon Festival, and the clouds chase the phoenix and the flute fly.

I will stay in Penglai Opera for a while and will return to the next thousand years.

First two:

The graceful and slim view is deep and purple and green courtyard.

The golden box was filled with medicine, and the treasure table read the immortal scriptures.

Write a poem to see the divine rain, ride a raft to identify the guest stars.

We should only thank others for their customs and make light requests.

First three:

The golden furnace inherits the Taoist secrets, and the jade certificate opens the mystery.

Clouds chasing the sings of the sacred spirits flow and the palaces fly.

Riding the wind and playing with the vastness, peeking at the moon and waving the glory.

Only three cranes in the mountains should return for thousands of years.

First four:

The Taoist record opens the middle talisman, and the true official presents the Qing Dynasty.

The three birds of burning incense arrive, and the nine immortals of refining medicine are formed.

Under the spiritual books in the sky, welcoming them in the sky.

Smoke comes out, and the misty plays Pengying.

As Ma Zizai recited, I whispered: "But where are the immortals here?"

Ma Zizai did not face my problem directly, but continued to say, "There are six meanings of poetry: one is wind, two is fu, three is bi, four is Xing, five is Ya, and six is Song. Fengya Song is mostly used in the Book of Songs, and in the subsequent years, Fu Bi Xing techniques are used more. Fu Bi Xing is used to explain the matter and speak out directly; Bi is to write things to attach ideas and threaten to make things clear, and to compare the things with the other things; Xing is to start, take analogies and lead to the kindness, and to develop one's own heart. Those who use the poems and essays to express their opinions are to speak of other things first to cause the words they chant.

The four Taoist poems written by Zhang Daoji were written by the emperor. People in the world thought that the first one was the first "Jintan Qi Shuwei" and were arranged in the order of the first one to the first four, and ended with the first four "Miaomiao Xi Pengying" in the first four. In fact, this is not the case. Only our subsequent descendants know that the writing should be started with the first four "Dao Ji Kaizhonglu" in the first four, and the inverse order of the first four to first one, and ended with the first one "Still a thousand years" as the end. This is Zhang Daoji's original intention.

Zhang Daoji used talismans, Chen Biao to invite immortals, Taoist record opened the middle talisman, Zhenguan Biao', and Shangqing used the technique of fu to speak frankly, and invited the three islands and nine immortals to send a spiritual book. This spiritual book was the method of Zhang Daoji's later practice. The golden furnace and jade book in the "Golden Furnace Continue the Taoist Skills, Jade Books Enlighten the Mystery" are important magic tools. They use the technique of writing objects to express the important functions of these two magic tools: "Ride the wind and play with the vastness, peek at the moon and play the brilliance; write the fu to see the divine rain, ride the raft to distinguish the guest stars"; finally, using the technique of excitement, it caused the chanting words "constantly stay in Penglai opera, and return to the whole year after a thousand years". This is the great achievement of practice.

Zhang Shuo of the Tang Dynasty was indeed a great poet. He became prime minister three times and quelled the rebellion of the Hu people. He was a versatile person with civil and military talents. Of course, no one is perfect. He also had many criticisms, such as the origin of the allusion of the father-in-law and the father-in-law. He then taught immortal spiritual calligraphy and magic tools to learn Taoism and Zhenzong. After learning Taoism and Fa Zhenzong, he became tired of the government affairs. In the 18th year of Kaiyuan, he began to be sick at home and did not pay tribute to the old ministers. Xuanzong visited the old ministers several times and even wrote prescriptions personally to help him take care of his body. In December of the same year, this season, he died of illness. After his death, Xuanzong mourned him and personally wrote the divine monument with him. But in fact, he just pretended to die and fled far away and devoted himself to practicing Taoism.

I was fascinated by the fact that Zhang Daoji was really a god-like figure. "This person belongs to your founding ancestor. I guess he is also famous in the Taoist sect, right?"

"It's not true, it's just the opposite." Old Man Ma denied: "Taoism emphasizes tranquility and inaction, and declares that it is not the nature of Taoism and Dharma."

"There are many Taoist schools and branches in China. The Taoist sects actually originated from the Song and Jin dynasties. A Taoist sect is actually a big family with religion as the link. They have a common ancestor, a genealogy of successors that they follow from generation to generation, and a common ancestral home. If you count the branches in detail, if you divide them according to the genealogy, there are Hunyuan sect, Yinxi sect, Shaoyang sect, Chunyang sect, Chongyang sect, Suishan sect, Yushan sect, Qingjing sect, Laoshan sect, Qingwei sect, Zhengyi sect, etc.

According to the Taoist sects listed in the "General Book of Zhuzhen Sects", there are 86 sects, and in fact there are only 80 tribes. Some are continuations of genealogy, not independent sects. As for now, there are no such many mixed Taoist sects in Taoism. In the past, the small tribes were not included in Quanzhen, but were attached to Zhengyi. Therefore, Taoism is basically the two great Taoist sects of Quanzhen and Zhengyi.

"Then which tribe did Zhang Daoji create?" I asked curiously.

Old Man Ma smiled awkwardly and then added some hot water into the teapot: "We... are not one of them. We are one of the five foreigners who are not included in the sect's general thin section!"
