Chapter 735 Dreams take off

During the graduation season every year, the principal's speech is often seen as the "last lesson" for graduates. Zhang Ran hopes that his "last lesson" will say something useful: "This is true for Chinese movies, as is the case for Japanese and Korean movies. It can even be said that the entire Asian movies lack influence in the world today. You have interned in Hollywood crews and experienced the Hollywood film industry. You should know how big the gap is. You should also know that as a cultural product, the biggest obstacle to the spread of movies is cultural barriers.

For the European and American markets, Asian movies are just desserts and cannot become regular meals. Relatively speaking, the cultural barriers in the Asian market are much smaller, with cultural commonality and emotional resonance. For example, the Chinese movie "Red Cliff" exploded throughout Asia, but it cannot be sold in the European and American markets. An important purpose of our establishment of the Asian Film Academy is to integrate Asian film cultural resources and carry out Asian film cultural cooperation.

But it is too early for you now. Now you should not think about the Asian market, nor do you think about the European and American markets. You should consider the local market steadily and think about how to get the favor of local audiences. You should know who the audience is? Who is your target audience? Who is your target audience? Who is your movie targeted? You should know whether the group of people you pay attention to is male or female, what age groups they like, and what they like? For you, the most important thing is to win the audience and survive the competition.

Only when you survive and gain a foothold can you think about the overseas market and how to win overseas audiences based on your local area. If your first movie fails, don’t complain, and try your best to fight for the next opportunity. Remember, as creators, never complain. If your movie is not favored by the audience, you must be that you are not doing well enough!”

Most of Bai Jie and Beijing Television students thought Zhang Ran was very passionate about saying this and didn’t think there was any problem. However, after listening to the students of Beijing Television’s director department, they looked at Urshan and the others with envy and jealousy.

For new directors, the first movie is the most critical. If the first movie is ruined, there will be no chance to do it in the future. But Zhang Ran told them that if the first movie fails, you must work hard to get the next chance. Where does this opportunity come from? It must be given by Zhang Ran!

In other words, Urshan and the others have one more chance than other new directors.

The students in the Director Department of Beijing Electric were so jealous that they were all from the Director Department. Why is the gap so big?

Standing on the podium, Zhang Ran said passionately: "You are the first Asian Film Academy. During the three years you studied, the pattern of Asian films has changed a lot. Chinese films have achieved explosive growth, with a total box office from 4 billion in 2006 to an estimated 13 billion this year. In 2006, South Korea and the United States signed a free trade agreement, and the market was fully liberalized, and began to fight with Hollywood films. Japanese films were reversed from 2006 after being suppressed by Hollywood for twenty years. Local films have defeated Hollywood films for three consecutive years. Now the entire Asian film is in a booming state, and new directors are needed, and excellent commercial film directors are needed. For you newcomers, this is the best era, and the era when you show your skills.

Students, from here, some of you will stay in the mainland, and some will return to your country. After years of this, you will experience a lot, but everyone's paths and circumstances are different. I hope you will eventually get the same destination and get what you want. May the dream of movies be the dazzling light of your life in the end of the world; I hope that in the near future, every student in the 2006 class will survive the wind and waves in the vast ocean of movies and reach the other side of success! Thank you everyone!"

At the end of the speech, all the students and guests present stood up together and expressed their gratitude to Zhang Ran with the warmest applause. The smile on each of them was so sincere.

Zhang Ran stood on the stage, looking at the students, smiling extremely brightly. He always believed that changing the dilemma of Chinese films could only rely on industrialization, but it was impossible to achieve industrialization with him and Ning Hao and several directors.

Although the peak of the century has already had a complete system and a fairly complete industrial chain; and films such as "Tangshan Earthquake" with a very high industrial level were made. However, Chinese films are still not considered film industry and can only be considered a handicraft workshop, because the real film industry must be replicable, quantifiable, and can determine the final quality of the movie without using any personal energy. "Tangshan Earthquake" Zhang Ran can shoot at a very high level, but it is not this level to others. Even Ning Hao and Ding Sheng cannot do it. It is not that they are not capable, but that they are not good at this type of movie.

Chinese films lack talents, and the ones they lack most are excellent genre film directors; however, as Urshan and his group of directors enter the market, this situation will gradually improve, and the process of industrialization of Chinese films will truly begin!

Bai Jie looked at Zhang Ran on the stage and felt that his smile was too bright. She was a little surprised. Is this too happy? Why was she so happy? But she didn't think much about it, took out her camera and freeze the smile in the camera.

The graduation ceremony continued, and the tutor Amaba took to the stage to speak. He seemed particularly excited, expressed his high recognition of the students' academic performance, and encouraged the students to make their own contributions to the Asian film industry and the global film industry. Next, Urshan went on the stage to speak as a student representative. He reviewed his three years of intense and fulfilling study life and expressed his sincere gratitude to the college and teachers.

At about ten o'clock, the most exciting moment of the graduation ceremony finally arrived, and the graduation certificate was issued.

Twelve graduates were already standing quietly beside the rostrum, waiting to go on stage to get their graduation certificates. Urshan stood in front, and when he heard his name, he stepped onto the rostrum.

When he came to Zhang Ran, Urshan said respectfully: "Hello, Principal!"

Zhang Ran and Urshan held their hands together, shook them twice, and then separated: "Hello, classmate Urshan!" Immediately afterwards, he picked up a necklace from the pedal of the emcee and hung it around Urshan's neck.

Bai Jie first saw a necklace for students at the ear lifting ceremony. She was surprised when she heard Yang Mi ask not far away in front of her, "Teacher Guo, what is the necklace that Teacher Zhang hung for Wuershan?"

Guo Zhen said: "This is a graduation gift specially customized for graduates. It was designed by Teacher Zhang to find Wang Daren. The whole gift is a set of rings and necklaces. There is a metal nameplate on the necklace, engraved with the student's name, year of admission, and major in which he is in. There is also a ring that can be removed and worn on the necklace, with the front engraved with "Asian Film Academy" and the abbreviation of the school name afa, graduation year 2009, and an independent number belonging to each student."

The students around him exclaimed, the ring and necklace with their own name were designed by Wang Daren, so they would probably sell for thousands of yuan. Such a graduation gift is simply envious and jealous!

Even Bai Jie envied Urshan and the others in her heart. Zhang Ran thought so thoughtfully. Having such a gift is the absolute best souvenir for the students!

Fan Yang was quite moved and immediately asked, "Teacher Guo, do we have it?"

Guo Zhen shook his head gently: "That is the graduation gift for Asian Film students. Beijing Electric has no habit of giving graduation gifts to students."

Yang Mi said angrily: It’s Teacher Zhang’s student, Urshan and others have them, but we don’t. This is too partial!”

Several other students also said, "Yes, it's too biased!"

On the stage, Zhang Ran looked at Urshan and smiled and said, "Class Urshan, bow your head!" When Urshan lowered his head, Zhang Ran reached out and moved the tassel on Urshan's master's hat from the right to the left, encouraging him: "Class Urshan, things are so difficult in the world. I hope you don't be discouraged, let alone disappoint. Be confident, because wherever you are, the Asian Movie!"

Urshan said respectfully: "Thank you, Dean, I will always be proud of Yaying!"

Zhang Ran smiled and handed the graduation certificate to Urshan. The two of them stood side by side and smiled in front of the camera. Urshan held the outer skin of the graduation certificate in his hand, with big characters facing outward, asking everyone to take photos.

After taking a photo, Urshan respectfully said "Thank you, Principal" and walked down from the other side of the rostrum. Then, Guo Zijian walked over.

The ear lifting ceremony was very fast, and the entire process officially ended in less than twenty minutes. The host came on stage and announced: "In the next step, Dreams are ready to take off!"

The big screen image turned into a cabin, and all the twelve graduates sat in the cabin, nervous and excited.

Amaba and Zhang Ran came to a big button in the center of the stage. They each stretched out one hand, placed it on the button, and then exerted force at the same time and pressed the button.

As the whimpering alarm sounded, the "Dream" on the big screen rose into the sky, and went straight into the sky, and disappeared into a deep blue world in a blink of an eye. Suddenly, the balloon hanging above the head exploded with a bang, and the whole scene suddenly became full of colorful strips, and the scene was extremely festive and spectacular.

All the students here stood up and cheered and applauded. The atmosphere on the scene reached its highest point!

After the applause, the lights went out and the documentary "Dream Takes Off" began to be played.

The documentary tells the three years of life between Urshan and his group of students from admission to graduation. In many people's impression, it is easy to shoot movies in Hollywood, five days a week and eight hours a day, so they think that teaching in Asia Film, a school that is in line with Hollywood industry, must be easier. But with the playback of the documentary, they find that they are wrong, and it is ridiculously wrong. The students' hard work is beyond imagination. Each student has to hand in homework once a month, and these homework are a joint job. Everyone works as directors, producers for others, photographs for another student, and artwork for the third student. Because everyone has to help each other, everyone can only shoot for an hour. This method has driven many students crazy, and even Urshan is broken, squatting in the corner and crying.

However, this kind of training is effective, allowing students to understand that they can shoot the most important shots in the shortest time and weigh in the shortest time. For example, if you only have half an hour, you have to shoot three shots, but you can’t finish them. Then you must make a choice in the shortest time and express the content of the three shots with one shot.

This training has greatly trained the students' abilities. When they enter the Hollywood crew for internship and later create independently, everything will be easy.

When the documentary was finished, the lights lit up again, and the graduates' faces were filled with tears. Those tears were the graduates' memories of their three years of study.

The graduation ceremony ended here. Zhang Ran walked out of the flag room surrounded by students and walked towards the school cafeteria.

Bai Jie looked at Zhang Ran's departure back and shook her head gently. She really couldn't understand this person. She said he was an idealist, but he was obviously very realistic. She could say that he was a realist, but what he did was particularly idealistic. She was such a strange person!

The sun shines above her head, Bai Jie walks silently, and she remembers Zhang Ran’s bright smile standing on the stage. For some reason, she suddenly feels full of hope for Chinese movies! 8)
