Chapter 13 Party A Knows a Hammer
Different combat theories have very different requirements for the appearance, performance and use of armored vehicles. Both the Imperial Army and the Navy Commando issued a demand to develop "heavy firepower and high-protection motor vehicles", but they have made huge differences in what such combat equipment should look like and what needs to be met.
The Army emphasized firepower, requiring vehicles to have the ability to fire continuously for at least one quarter of an hour, and need to survive the armor-breaking hammer and hand-cannon attacks of the Alliance Steam Knight.
Navy commandos pay more attention to interspersed combat at large distances. They require vehicles to have at least a defense ability to block the attack of heavy machine guns, close to or exceed the speed of commonly used steam carriages, and have a range of at least 100 miles after replacing gas cylinders.
According to Dusand's understanding, the Imperial Navy Commando needs about equipment such as large eight-wheeled or tracked armored personnel carriers. And if the Imperial Army...their needs are realized, they are really what Polina designed at the beginning.
In other words, their needs are problematic.
The Imperial Army's combat theory is still mainly based on large-scale positional warfare and killing the enemy's live forces. Through the steam knights, they forcibly break through barbed wire and trenches, use mobility to avoid being attacked by enemy heavy artillery, use armor to resist enemy light infantry firepower, and kill as much as possible before the reserved high-pressure steam is exhausted.
Compared with the Navy, the Imperial Army did not care about the gains and losses of a city and a place. They only pursued killing people - any method that could improve the army's killing and injuring enemies was popular.
On this basis, it would be better if you can reduce your own damage.
So, according to the "needs" of the Imperial Army, Polina designed the tank that she became a "position cruiser" and then began to write and fell into a vicious cycle.
The number of shell reserves and the cannon itself are both weight - and it is amazingly heavy. A five-inch short-body cannon weighs 2,000 pounds with a cannon body and launch mechanism, which is the "dead weight" of the fixed-loading cannon with a copper shell shell. If the cannon fired with a medicine bag, the enlarged charging room will have to add at least 600 pounds to the cannon body.
Four five-inch cannons, which is the weight of eight thousand pounds. With the shell reserves for each cannon that lasts for ten minutes, 120 5-inch cannon shells will have to add at least another 1,500 pounds.
Polina also loaded the "cruiser" with four heavy machine guns, plus bullets... This is about a thousand pounds.
Four heavy machine guns, four cannons, plus drivers and commanders, this requires the number of tank crews to be at least 16. In order to dig out space that can accommodate at least sixteen people, Polina had to directly increase the body from the expected length of 5 yols at the beginning to 10 yols.
The doubled length directly increased the weight of the armor plate. This made the total weight of the armor soar to an astonishing 150,000 pounds.
With the weight of the artillery and crew, the total weight of this "cruiser" without power systems has exceeded 80 tons.
Dusand did not directly stop Polina because of this - even the V12 engine version of the gas internal combustion engine could not drive this behemoth with a total weight of nearly one hundred tons.
If you want to drive it, you have to replace the power system with a coal-fired boiler, boiler and chimney, plus the reserve of water and coal and at least three additional furnaces. In the end, the monster weighs 200 tons and cannot be beaten.
To be honest, if such a thing could be designed and manufactured, Polina's name would be remembered and praised by the "Duo Rising Steamed Gang" divine believers in the empire for at least two hundred years in the next - if there was such a strange religion in the empire.
But fighting is not about treating guests or doing a good job. Polina herself knows that her design must be problematic. But she lacks sufficient military background and experience, but she really doesn't know where her problem lies.
Fortunately, Dusander knew very well.
"You have to know that Party A is a bunch of bastards." In the office, Dusand waved his hands and instilled his ideas into Polina. "They don't know what they need, nor do they know what they want. But they just know that your design is something they can't accept. Every time you propose a design, they will tell you that it's not enough here and there is something wrong, and then force you to continue to modify it."
Although he had never really been a Party B in his previous life, Du Sander had heard his senior complaints - the senior was a publicity staff member in a pharmaceutical company at that time. As a result, the advertising plan he proposed was rejected by his superiors in a row within a month. The leader's relatives handed over the plan that was almost exactly the same as the design plan for the first edition of the senior, and it was instantly passed.
The senior who drank beer at school and vomited himself taught Dusand his life experience.
"Party A is a bastard, and you can never spoil them!"
"He doesn't know what he needs, so let's use the actual product to tell them that this is the product that can be used!" Du Sander waved his hand suddenly, looking like he was waving his face. "All the party is a fool, and the demand for the fool is fart!"
Dusander used the word "silly" directly in Chinese. Although Polina didn't understand it, she could guess that it was not a good thing. She asked with some concern, "What if the Army doesn't accept your design?"
Can there be an army in this world that refuses five pairs of heavy wheels? Dusand snorted disdainfully, "If they are really so blind, they will sell it to the Navy Commando!"

To be honest, it is a bit unreliable for automobile factories to build tanks.
But Dusander had no good idea. The farmers of the empire either dig the land by themselves or used cattle and horses as the source of power to cultivate the land. The men who had funds and large enough land for mechanized planting did not have tractors at all. Their land was for prisoners of war and the poor to plant cash crops.
The "professional counterpart" unit of tank manufacturing such as the tractor factory does not exist in the entire empire. Dusand could only let his car factory take over first, at least take the army's orders into his hands before talking about it.
The trial-made load trucks, armored vehicles and officer cars all require someone to drive them off the production line. This work was handed over by Dusand to the armed security guards of Rosen.
The Dusand factory currently employs more than 8,000 workers, most of them from small handmade factories in industrial areas. The handmade factories are one of the main sources of supporting parts for the Dusand Car Factory. They produce screws, steel plates for hanging, vehicle chassis components and most metal parts for the Belford Automobile Manufacturing Plant.
The gearbox is a ready-made product ordered directly from Bellsmith. This company, known for its precision manufacturing, specially rebuilt a production line for the order of the Belford Automobile Manufacturing Plant and re-optimized the structural design of the gearbox. The optimized gearbox has excellent vibration resistance and stability, and the maintenance time is much longer than the gearbox used in the steamer bed.
As a factory with 8,000 employees, the management difficulty of Belford Automobile Factory is even much higher than that of Fine County. Although the employees are very satisfied with their salary levels, they are more likely to have conflicts and conflicts. Rosen had long expected that such a situation might happen, so he specially formed an armed security team of more than 400 people for Belford Automobile Factory.
In order to facilitate the work and life of employees, this factory, which is 37 miles away from Upper Albin City, not only has dormitory areas and canteens, but also post offices, restaurants, barber shops, pharmacies and hospitals. With the education bill passed by the parliament, a school has also been built here.
The armed security guards usually patrol the factory, which is really useless. So Dusand began to systematically train these security guards. The first driving school in the empire was born in Belford Automobile. With it, the first group of part-time drivers in the empire were born.
He is usually a security guard, but he is still a driver at work. But Dusand obviously does not intend to "let go" these good guys with driving skills.
"We will let the security guards drive the tanks for a while." In the office, Dusand conveyed his decision to Rosen, who had just arrived at the factory. "Not only do we need to experiment with the performance of the tank itself, but also have to create a tactical model."
There is no absolute difference between the advantages and disadvantages of the tool itself. There is essentially a difference between a hammer and a screwdriver. Of course, no one is too stupid to say, "This hammer is better than a Phillips screwdriver."
But the tank is a brand new weapon, and it is definitely a "fresh thing" in the empire. People do not have enough understanding of it, and they do not know what kind of ability this expensive iron shell can have.
Then the army's mud legs will definitely compare tanks and steam knights with each other. After comparison, steam knights are actually in general dominant.
The tank designed by Dusand expects to require five occupants and travel speeds of about 15 miles per hour. Compared with the Steam Knight, which only needs one person to operate, it travels slowly and takes longer to get fire from aiming to projection.
And it is not flexible enough to rush directly into the trenches and massacre enemies.
But Dusander deeply understood that comparing the Steam Knight and the Tank is equivalent to comparing the Phillips screwdriver and the hammer. This is not how tanks are used.
Tanks should be used on a large scale to break through enemy defense lines and open attack channels for infantry in the rear. Then, use their maneuverability to directly pass through enemy positions, attack and destroy enemy logistics bases and steam knight rest points.
After destroying the enemy's logistics, the tanks can drive back to their base and then crush them over the heads of the Allies.
To make the Imperial Army realize the major strategic and tactical value of tanks, we must first develop a decent tactic. Then let the buns of local buns experience it - not only screws in the world, but also something called nails.
If you want to knock nails into the wood, of course it is better to use a hammer.
