1999 Radiohead

Today's third update, please recommend and subscribe!

Evan Bell is no longer the young reporter who screamed when he saw European and American superstars in his previous life. He has seen countless big names in his life and experienced various big scenes, which makes him always see the story of a name that was once only heard in legends.

The Radio Commander Band is not the fanaticism of fans to meet their idols, but from a professional perspective, admiration for the Radio Commander stage. The same is true for Gillen Haas. When Evan Bell saw the band members of the Radio Commander appear in the backstage, he realized that the Radio Commander was about to perform on stage, and he didn't know what kind of audio-visual feast this time would be, which made the blood in Evan Bell's body start to boil.

The Radio Commander's new album "In. Rainbows" released in 2007 has ranked among the top ten albums in the year-end list of many professional music magazines. It once again reveals the Radio Commander's unique musical personality, with the original sound guitar of "the. bneds", inherits the blurred electronics of "kid a (kid. a)" and builds the tired "ok computer (ok. pter)" eclectic rock and electrical molecules, which is definitely a unique existence in a rock band.

Today, the radio commander will be on stage to perform the first title song of the album "Fifteen Steps (15. Step)".

Lead singer Toms York walked in the front, followed by drummer Phil Selway, and the rest of the band members also entered one after another. At this time, the backstage was in a row, and the drum band stood in rows and walked towards the stage in order. Evan Bell originally wanted to come forward and say hello. After all, this was definitely an excellent opportunity to get to know the Radio Commander Band. I don’t know when this would be possible in the future. But the backstage is too chaotic, and the Radio Commander Band members gathered together and talked in a low voice. They were about to go onto the stage, obviously there was no time to have polite greetings.

Evan Bell just raised his footsteps and then let it go. Even if you can't get to know Thoms York and others in life, what's the point? The real charm of the Radio Commander band has always been on the stage. Being able to stand on the side stage and watching the performance up close is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Why bother? Moreover, Evan Bell also knows that it is not a pleasant thing to be disturbed by these clichéd social etiquette before the performance.

Sure enough, before Evan Bell and Gillen Haas had time to talk further, the radio commander band walked onto the stage to prepare for the next performance. Evan Bell had no intention of chatting with Gillen Haas. He followed closely behind and chased after him, intending to stand on the side stage to watch the performance up close.

When I walked out of the standby room, there was no light in the corridor at this time. The main thing was to avoid affecting the stage lights. The lights in the standby room and the stage were everywhere, so that the corridor could see the outline clearly, so that it would not be completely dark. Through the curtain, you can see that the entire drum band had been arranged behind the stage. Toms York was confirming the microphone at the front end of the stage. Looking back, many people were standing at the door of the standby room, including the melancholy mood. However, Gillen Haas did not keep up with Evan Bell's footsteps, and he still met with the melancholy mood players.

Evan Bell retracted his gaze, walked a few steps forward, walked along the direction of the curtain, and stood at the front of the side stage, which was equivalent to the standing area at the front of the stage. You can see every detail of the performance so clearly and carefully. Moreover, the distance from the speaker is appropriate, and the shocking power of the rock musical talisman can be imagined.

The sound of introducing the radio commander's band fell. The screams and applause at the scene surrounded Staples Staples Stadium, but the band did not wait for the sound to reach the highest point, and the drum band began to drum beats under the director's command. The most impressive thing about the song "Fifteen Steps" is the drum beats that run through the entire song. This drum beat is not a traditional drum beat, but it is more like a tiny and messy footsteps, but it brews the rhythm in a disorderly and orderly manner. It is also interspersed with some nonsensical electronic musical receptions and the sound of children laughing, which completely outlines the whole song's psychedelic and ethereal, but with a bit of evil and weird style. Finally, it is interpreted by the lead singer Toms York's signature neurotic voice, which makes people feel a sense of the sound of electric current passing through, and they start to shivering involuntarily.

Obviously, in order to match the Grammy's large-scale performance stage today, the director arranged a large drum band for the Radio Commander Band, hoping to create a grand and grand momentum. Evan Bell couldn't help but frowned slightly. Is the song "Fifteen Steps" suitable for a large-scale performance? He was not sure, because the psychedelic and weird style of the song seemed not very suitable. Moreover, Evan Bell noticed that there were only lead singers Toms York and electric guitar Johnny Greenwood on the stage, and there were three other members? Evan Bell just saw that the other members had arrived at the scene, what was going on!

Evan Bell subconsciously searched for other band members on the surrounding stages, but found nothing, and Toms York's voice had successfully cut into the drum beats and started to perform tonight.

"How will it be reborn, how will it make up for all this stupidity..." Toms York's voice, as always, possesses a neurotic trait, which makes people deeply fascinated.

Evan Bell couldn't help but start to beat the rhythm with the drum beats, but soon, Evan Bell noticed something was wrong. The original illusory and weird style of the song "Fifteen Steps" was swallowed up little by little by little in the drum band's massive drum beats. Although Toms York's interpretation was still as stunning as the Milky Way falling from the sky, the characteristics of the whole song gradually dissipated. As the song entered the chorus, the drum band on the scene became stronger and stronger, and the whole row of trombones and horns pushed the melody to the peak, and the entire momentum reached a new climax, accompanied by colorful lights, like a fairyland.

But Evan Bell couldn't laugh, and couldn't even enjoy it, because Toms York's performance was almost submerged in drum beats. Not to mention that the song's most eye-catching style disappeared, just talking about the unique live performance style of the Radio Commander has become dull. It is a bit exaggerated to say that it is "standardization". After all, the style of the Radio Commander band's music itself still makes this stage unique, but it must be said that this "fifteen-step" performance created for the Grammy is not the most radio commander, and this is not the stage Evan Bell wants to see.

Even so, I still have to admire Toms York's strong control. His voice and interpretation retained the last trace of the charm of the radio commander for this stage that had fallen into the Grammy rhythm. Looking at Toms York's irregularly twisting his body on the stage, it was like a wisp of strange blue smoke dancing in the blood-colored spruce forest. Even though the song "Fifteen Steps" was "destroyed" by the drum band, it is still a rare classic, so exciting that it makes people unable to extricate themselves.

When the three and a half minutes of the show ended, Evan Bell still gave him warm applause, just because of Toms York.

At this moment, Evan Bell had to agree with the opinions of music critics. When an award ceremony becomes more and more commercial, it is difficult for them to maintain their original intentions, whether it is artistic, authoritative, fair, or professional. This also makes the award ceremony uncontrollably move towards the trap of entertainment supremacy and never break free.

Take Grammys as an example. If they awarded the award to an unheard of band just because their music is indeed excellent, no audience would buy it; but if they awarded the award to singers with the best sales, then what is the difference between them and the MTV Music Video Award? The audience would not buy it. In the end, Grammys inevitably chose commerciality, and the way of giving the award is one, and a band like the radio commander also created a performance stage in the Grammy way to make the stage look lively. This is the second.

Of course, it is not that simple to find a perfect balance between art and business for any work or award ceremony. This is an eternal problem. Even Evan Bell has no solution. If Evan Bell came to create an award ceremony, he would probably choose a method similar to the Gotham Award and go all the way to the end on the road of art. Such extreme methods often bring destruction. It is not so easy to break through the siege and win a glimmer of life, but at least this method is the purest.

When Toms York and Johnny Greenwood walked off the stage, they did not stop in the backstage, but quickly returned to the standby room, and then returned to the guest seat with the band members. Evan Bell still did not win the opportunity to get close to the radio commander band, but it triggered Evan Bell's infinite thoughts.

If one day, when he cannot maintain his purity, it does not necessarily mean that music or movies compromise with the market, but rather that the stage performance must be carried out in the way of the organizer, he can still stand firmly in his own position, but one day he is forced to surrender, what kind of situation will it be? Will he become utilitarian and commercial, and will he become ordinary and vulgar? To be more extreme, it is like letting Lincoln Park come to perform rhythm and blues, which is really an unimaginable situation.

Perhaps, at that time, he shouldn't continue to stick to it - not to compromise with the organizer, but to leave the world of music and no longer perform on stage, but to make his favorite music and put it on the Eleventh Blog or itunes for fans to share.

Will such a day really come? Ten years later, or twenty years later?

Evan Bell sighed deeply. Maybe when that day comes, he will no longer have any attachment to this stage, because such a stage is not the place he loves and longs for.
