Chapter fifty-fifth division of labor

When it comes to counting the number of Chinese in Vietnam, no matter what Vietnam is now, the Republic of Vietnam in the future, or the unified Vietnam in later generations, they intentionally or unintentionally ignore part of it and compress the proportion of Chinese as much as possible.

The data they released did not include the "Mingxiang people" who lived and reproduced in Vietnam for nearly a hundred or even hundreds of years, nor did they include ethnic minorities such as the Hemeng people, the Dai people, and even the Nong people. There are many different opinions on how many Chinese people were there during the reunification of Vietnam and contradictory.

Officials claim that it is less than one million, and the statistics before the collapse of South Vietnam were more than one million, while Chinese people who fled abroad in the sea of rage believe that it is no less than two million.

They are all right, the difference is how to define Chinese people.

People from Guangzhou, Chaozhou, Hakka, Fujian and Hainan who live in southern cities such as Xidi have the best traditions, the largest number of people, the most economically powerful, have a certain degree of autonomy, regard themselves as orthodox overseas Chinese, are known for their unity, and even people from Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu are rejected, not to mention "Mingxiang people" who can speak fluently and Vietnamese.

In fact, "Mingxiang people" have their own traditions.

Although they kept intermarrying with locals, they were not assimilated. They set up temples to worship their ancestors, worshipping Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang and the 17 emperors of the Ming Dynasty, as well as deputy priest General Chen Shangchuan and other ancestors who founded the foundation, established the "Mingxiang Society" and "Mingxiang Society". The guild retained the Ming Dynasty's clothes and inherited Chinese cultural customs to show that they did not forget themselves as the remnants of the Ming Dynasty.

One more person and one more strength, the Mingxiang Guild Hall is close at hand, and the Mingxiang people are undoubtedly the objects that must be fought for and united.

Thinking of this, Qian Xinlin suggested: "Mr. Li, you are the director of more than a dozen Chinese schools. Can you think of a way to recruit more Mingxiang children in the second half of the year."

Among the five gangs in Dike, only the three gangs in Canton, Chaozhou and Fujian are truly rich. They have the most schools and hospitals, the best teaching and medical conditions, and even the gangs are built more grand than the Hakka gang and Hainan gang.

People in Mingxiang are not good at doing business, and their lives are difficult. The guild halls have very little money for oil. Unlike the wealthy Canton, Chaozhou and Fujian Gangs can recruit thousands of poor students for free.

Li Weimin's eyes lit up and said thoughtfully: "Not only are our Chaozhou Gang Chinese schools going to recruit, but the Guangfu Gang and the Fujian Gang Chinese schools going to recruit. There are not enough teachers to go to Hong Kong to invite them. As for those old antiques, let their son do their work."

He worked with the richest young men in Di'an to do business together, so there should be no problem in mobilizing them.

Qian Xinlin nodded and continued, "Zhuzhen has now become a little Chaozhou, where there are more than 100,000 Chaozhou people. They are all fellow villagers. Compared with Mingxiang people, they are much easier to do their jobs."

"I plan to build an industrial village there, but now there is not enough funds and manpower, and it will be next year as soon as possible."

Li Weimin smiled and pointed to the map on the wall and said, "Mr. Qian, I actually want to unite not only them, but also Vietnamese Catholics in the north. Over the past seven years, they have been standing on the side of the French. Almost all Catholic villages have organized militias to participate in battles with the Vietnam League or provide logistical support to the French army. Some villages even have female militias.

Lansdale said that when the French army abandoned some Catholic areas a few days ago, angry Catholic militia threw grenades at them. They were abandoned by the French and worried that the Vietnamese would retaliate, so they would definitely retreat south. There would be church organizations, and the efficiency would be very high, and the number would be several times or even dozens of times higher than expected.

When it comes over, Ng Diem will definitely be caught off guard. At that time, I will think of a way to place some of our resettlement sites near our resettlement site. They all retreated from the north, fought with the Vietnam League, and supported Ng Diem. The relationship between them should not be difficult, and the relationship should not be difficult."

No one can guarantee whether the Viet Union will leave guerrillas in the south. There are Catholic villages that are incompatible with the Viet Union, so the pressure on the Nongren resettlement site is not that great.

Qian Xinlin pondered for a moment and couldn't help but smile: "Mr. Li, if conditions permit, I think I should place as much as possible. If the changes you just speculated in the future really happen, they will definitely become our most determined ally, because like the current situation in Nong District, they have no choice but to join us to keep warm."

"That's what I think, but I can't have too much hope for the number of people. After all, for Diem Ng, they are the real supporters and the most solid foundation for ruling. If nothing unexpected happens, Diem Ng will try every means to place them in some more important areas around Saigon and in the central part of Saigon."

"No matter where they are placed, the relationship must be well done. If you don't want to see what is happening, you must always consider the future."

"Of course."

Li Weimin took a sip of coffee and then said, "As for moving some, I plan to do this, first, arrange people to gather the defeated national troops who are lying in various places and refugees who have escaped from the mainland; second, through the Lao and Cambodia overseas Chinese students from the Federation, they mobilize compatriots who are more difficult to live in Laos and Cambodia.

The political situation in these two places is unstable. I am worried that there will be an anti-China or even a massacre in China in the future. The same is true for Indonesia, Malay and Myanmar. In short, we Chinese living in Southeast Asia are like wrecked dogs, and are slaughtered like fish on the chopping board. Therefore, the Federation cannot only focus on Vietnam. It must be farther and longer. At that time, it can save a few, and it can help a little."

The real wealth can help the world. Qian Xinlin was moved and was silent for a while before whispering: "Mr. Li, the Southeast Asian compatriots are mainly from Cantonese, Chaoshan, Minnan, Hakka and Hainanese people. The guild halls are everywhere. It is not very difficult to do things. The key is that it requires a lot of funds."

"So we have to divide the work. In the future, I will be responsible for making money, dealing with Ng Diem, and you will be responsible for organizing. When all the villagers in Nong District move south and all are resettled, there will be basically no problem with the staff. Many of them have received higher education, some have even stayed in school, and they are very reliable and can be used with confidence."

"Mr. Li, this burden is not heavy at all. Xinlin really doubts whether he can handle it."

"Mr. Qian, we have to find something to do after a lifetime of life, right? No matter what the future will be, in fact, I don't know what the future will be like. At least we have worked hard and have not gone to this world in vain."

Qian Xinlin took a deep breath and smiled lightly, "Okay, I'll try it. Just like you said, it's too idle, so it's better to find something to do."
