Day2, today, to go from Orisson to the next destination? Roncesvalles, you need to cross the Pyrenees, which is the first big challenge on the pilgrimage.

At 8 o'clock the next morning, there was no one in the shelter except Li Shenxing, and he was the last person to set off.

Most of today's journey was spent in the mountains. It is said that there was a food truck near the top of the mountain. Li Shenxing was worried that it might be closed due to weather conditions, so to be on the safe side, he also booked today's sandwich lunch when booking a bed.

By the way, the Pyrenees Mountains under the rising sun were so beautiful that Li Shenxing reluctantly left. Not only did he take out his phone to take photos from different angles, but he also took a video with a handheld mini camera.

I had a simple coffee with croissant sandwich for breakfast. I drank coffee early in the morning. Although it was refreshing, Li Shenxing would rather drink some juice. The next journey was basically downhill. After walking a difficult gravel road, you entered the forest path.

The road is covered with a little fallen leaves, and the rustling sound on it sounds like another unique beauty and fun.

From time to time, guideposts with Camino signs appear on the roadside. Although the mountainous areas are large, you will not lose your direction as long as you follow the signs.

The road went downhill and the speed of walking accelerated. Soon Li Shenxing saw his planned destination today - Roncesvalles, which also shows that he had crossed the French border and successfully traveled from France to Spain!

Today, the total distance is 17.5km, the altitude climbed from 700m to 1430m and then dropped to 950m. Except for the 15-minute lunch, I basically didn't take a break, and it took a total of four hours and 16 minutes.

Tonight's accommodation is a shelter converted from an abandoned church. It has been made into a small compartment similar to a train car, which can accommodate 183 people. The key is that it is clean and tidy. There are also a fully equipped public kitchen, restaurant, and laundry room, which is better than the youth hostels in ordinary cities. It only costs 12 euros per bed, which is absolutely worth the money.

Albergue (sanctuary), a small town that is located in every ten or twenty kilometers along the Pilgrimage Road, has a place dedicated to providing accommodation for pilgrims, divided into public and private.

Public houses are usually former churches or schools converted into shelters that provide beds for pilgrims. They are usually very cheap, ranging from 5 to 15 euros a night. Only those who hold a pilgrim passport can stay in. Such shelters can meet basic needs, with mattresses or bunks, kitchens and public bathrooms.

After check-in, the person in charge will give you a set of disposable bed sheets and pillowcases, but the quilts must be prepared by yourself, so don’t forget to bring a suitable sleeping bag before departure.

After checking in, I also booked today's dinner. After Li Shenxing took out his slippers from his backpack and changed them, he then took the hiking shoes to the shoe rack next to him.
