Prologue

What is law?

The law is the last line of defense to maintain social fairness and justice, and justice is the soul and life of the law.

——Preface

"After this court, the defendant Pei Daxian was found not guilty."

"If the plaintiff prosecutor is dissatisfied with this judgment, he may appeal through this court or directly to the High Court within thirty days from the second day of receiving the judgment."

"Are there any objections off the court?"

"Now close the court."

Hearing the three "dongdongdongdong" sounds as the judge gavel settled, the sisters sitting in the hearing table could no longer suppress the tears in their eyes.

"Dad... he is not a prisoner at all."

Pei Daxian, who was sitting in the dock, heard the judge's verdict and seemed to have exhausted all his life's strength at this moment.

No one could understand the pain he suffered when he fell into hell, and now he finally climbed up, even if the road was covered with thorns, it was worth it.

He looked at the daughters who cried in tears in the audience, and the grief in his heart was endless. "It was Dad who made you wronged." He couldn't help but look up and burst into tears.

"Lawyer Wu, thank you so much." Pei Daxian's eldest daughter Pei Suxian held the hand of a young man and kept bowing. The young man quickly replied: "Ms. Pei, I didn't actually do anything. If you want to thank him, please thank Prosecutor Jiang. He only submitted part of the evidence when he submitted it, and he showed great mercy in court."

Pei Suxian was a little stunned when she heard what Lawyer Wu said. Since she learned that her father's prosecutor was her senior, Kang Suhe, although she didn't say anything on the surface, she kept complaining about him in her heart.

But today, Lawyer Wu's words did wake her up. "How can I blame my senior?" Pei Suxian shook her head with a wry smile. "But senior..."

She suddenly ran to the court, and the empty space of no one made her feel a little nervous.

"Senior! Senior!" Pei Suxian cried loudly in the hall.

"The court prohibits loud noises, don't you know?" Pei Suxian turned around and could not help but cry when she saw the familiar face.

"Senior, where have you been?"

"Silly girl, I can't arrange the procedures for my uncle."

"Why are you…?"

"I want to ask why I am merciful?"

"right."

"Why did Lawyer Wu tell you everything?" Jiang Suhe shook his head helplessly.

"From the law and regulations, my uncle is indeed not a prisoner, but my colleague prosecuted the most suspicious suspect in order to close the case as soon as possible. The evidence in the evidence directory naturally does not prove that your father is a prisoner." Jiang Suhe paused, and looked at Pei Suxian's pretty face with pear blossoms, and he felt a little sorry for the girl who had been tortured for several months.

"From the human perspective, the presiding judge had intended to accuse your father, so I would no longer be that evil man and just follow the flow."

After hearing this, Pei Suxian looked at Jiang Suhe with her big eyes open.

"Senior, thank you."

"Why did I thank me? I didn't do anything."

"But I know that this is contrary to the senior's principles of dealing with things."

"When the senior was mock court in college, no matter what the case was, the defendant's defense lawyer would be speechless."

"It was too young and too impulsive at that time." Jiang Suhe touched his head embarrassedly.

"But I think the senior was very handsome at that time." Tears in Pei Suxian's eyes had dried up, and the flashing light made Jiang Suhe a little at a loss.

"Is that so? Haha." Jiang Suhe naturally knew what the girl meant, but he wouldn't jump out when he should be stupid.

"Senior, thank you for letting me know that justice still exists in the world."

"Is it justice?" Jiang Suhe raised his head and saw the four big words "justice and sternness" in the hall shining brightly.

In ancient Greece, Astria held a scale in her hand to measure the good and evil of man. When a person died, she would use this scale to weigh the weight of his good and evil, which determines whether he should go to heaven or hell. Now, everyone has a scale in his heart, which measures the gains and losses of all things, and the so-called justice is just that the balance tilts towards the face of most people.

In this world today, few people can uphold the only remaining justice. Not doing anything that harms the world is enough to call it good. But Jiang Suhe is precisely one of those few, firmly believing that only by upholding justice can order order.

In ancient China, Han Feizi strongly advocated "the law is not precious" and "the law is loved by the law", which is the predecessor of everyone's equality before the law today. The country where Jiang Suhe is located coexisted with the Anglo-American legal system, which makes the practice of justice quite difficult.

But he still walked on his own path without fear. Perhaps one day, he could not hold on anymore, and then he would fall more thoroughly...

Calm days pass by day by day.

Late at night, the traffic during the day had disappeared, leaving only stars flying on the road. The bizarre Lu Li in the first half of the night gradually became quiet, blending with the night in the city. Now is the time for people to sleep well.

We call continuous thought activities, images or emotions in people's minds after falling asleep. People often give important meanings to dreams because sometimes, they can't tell the difference between dreams and reality.

This is Jiang Suhe's dream.

Crying sound.

Screams.

Prayer.

There is also the sound of a car collision...

"Lawyer Jiang."

"Lawyer Jiang?"

"Lawyer Jiang!"

Jiang Suhe's brows became tighter and tighter, and suddenly, he became startled from the bed.

"I'm dreaming?"

"Lawyer Jiang? Is it me?"

"If it were me..." He looked at his pajamas, then looked at the room, and realized that there was no difference, so he lay down with a little peace of mind. This dream was so real that he could not regard it as illusion.

"Will I be a lawyer in the future?"

"Or who helps the murderer sue?"

"This is outrageous."

In a trance, he thought of something again and shouted, "Pei Suxian!" Jiang Suhe hurriedly rushed out of bed and picked up his cell phone and dialed it.

"Ding"

"Ding"

"Ding"

The continuous busy sounds seemed to make Jiang Suhe even more impatient.

"Senior? It's so late, what's wrong?" Finally, he heard a familiar voice coming into his ears. Jiang Suhe collapsed on the bed with anger and breathed a sigh of relief, "It's okay, I'm just a little worried about you."

"I called me so late. Do you miss me?" Pei Suxian's lazy voice came softly from the other end of the phone.

"Go to bed quickly."

Jiang Suhe then hung up the phone with a smile, "It's fine if it's okay, it's fine if it's okay."

"So this dream is fake?"

"If it's fake, it's too real."

After thinking about the cruel and cold-blooded scene in the dream, Jiang Suhe shivered and couldn't believe it. If it was really him...

"No, no."

"What's wrong with me? I'm so serious about a dream."

"Is it because I've been under too much pressure recently?" Jiang Suhe murmured to himself, slowly covering his head.

Soon, he fell asleep again, this time, he did not dream anymore and slept very peacefully.

In the sky, the stars were faintly flashing, as if conveying some unknown meaning, and a beam of moonlight shone through his window on his bed.

Underground, the wheel of destiny slowly rotates, and no one can tell what will happen in the future.
