Chapter Twelve [Growing Radishes]

When Liu Zhuo and Tiezhu returned to the village, it was already dusk. They walked the mountain road for a day and were already hungry.

Tiezhu was still thinking about his pork head, so Liu Zhuo took him back to his house.

As soon as he entered the threshold, Liu Zhuo saw an old man wearing a cloth dress and wrinkled face sitting at the dining table. It was Li Yun, the village chief in the village. There was also a burly middle-aged man sitting next to him. He was wearing silk clothes and looked extraordinary. He was raising a glass to drink with Liu Dazhi.

Liu Dazhi saw Liu Zhuo enter the house and blamed him: "Zhuozi, why are you back now? Your Grandpa Li and Mr. Zhang have been here for a long time, so you are not calling anyone."

Liu Zhuo nodded and said politely: "Hello Grandpa Li."

Li Yun laughed and said, "Zhuo Zi is smart and lovely. This time I will definitely be attracted by the immortals when I go to Wuzhi Peak."

Liu Dazhi introduced again: "This is Grandpa Li's cousin, Mr. Zhang Shun, Mr. Zhang. Tomorrow, you will take Mr. Zhang's carriage to Wuzhi Peak. Don't make trouble on the way. Mr. Zhang is an outer disciple of the Wuyue Sect, who is in charge of the big business in the sect."

Liu Zhuo was surprised to hear that the person in front of him was a disciple of the Five Mountains Sect. In his opinion, the people of the Five Mountains Sect should be all immortals who are flying in the clouds. How could they start a business?

Liu Zhuo didn't ask this question, but Tie Zhu next to him asked without hesitation: "Brother Zhang, you are also a disciple of the Five Mountains Sect, so you should be an immortal, why don't you take us back?"

Mr. Zhang was a little displeased when he said this. Li Yun, who was standing beside him, glared at him: "Tiezhu, what are you talking nonsense? Why are you so rude?"

In this way, Zhang Shun smiled and said, "Cousin, don't be angry, it's okay."

He said to Tiezhu again: "Little guy, I definitely don't know how to fly the clouds and mists. Only inner disciples can learn this ability in the Five Mountains Sect. Outer disciples like Brother Zhang have insufficient immortality, so they can only learn some superficial martial arts. When they get older, they will have to go down the mountain to manage their business."

Liu Dazhi interrupted, "Young Master Zhang said just now that you can get more than a dozen or two cases of money every month after you go down the mountain, which is more than the county magistrate's salary! Tiezhu, you are not smart enough. If you want to become an outer disciple, your father will burn high incense. Not as smart as our Zhuozi, you must be selected as a sure thing."

Listening to his father's arrogant belittlement and praise himself, Liu Zhuo felt a headache, and he hurriedly said, "Dad, don't brag."

At this time, Zhang Shun also smiled and said, "Yes, Brother Liu, this is about cultivating immortals, and it is hard to tell what things are."

"I think our Zhuo Zi will definitely be selected. I remember when Zhuo Zi's mother was pregnant with him, there were thunder and lightning on sunny days. Old man Wu in the village said that this child was thunder and would definitely be incredible in the future. So, he was admitted to the scholar at the age of eight. If he didn't go to the Five Mountains and wait for the provincial examination next year, he would definitely be easier than fart."

Liu Dazhi has always been unable to listen to others saying that his son is bad, and now he has started to boast about himself.

Liu Zhuo was really helpless with such a father. He was even under a little pressure now. His father had let go of the big talk. When he went to the Wuyue Sect, if he didn't even choose the outer disciples and ran back to the village in shame, then Liu Dazhi's old face would have no place to put it.

Liu Zhuo was unwilling to listen to the adults chatting about family matters. He pulled Tiezhu and ran to the kitchen, shouting, "Dad, I'm hungry, I'll take Tiezhu to have a meal."

"Go, go." Liu Dazhi waved his hands repeatedly, turned his head and laughed at the two guests.

When the two teenagers arrived at the kitchen, Chen Yuzhu went to the stream to wash clothes. Food had been left on the stove. Liu Zhuo asked Tiezhu to eat quickly and took the braised pig head over and asked Tiezhu to take it home and ate it slowly by himself.

After dinner, the sky gradually darkened completely.

Liu Zhuo was worried about the vegetable field in the jar and was a little impatient, but the village chief and Zhang Shun had not left yet. Maybe his parents had to ask him for something, so he didn't dare to go into the jar now, so he could only run to the yard and feed the rabbits.

The hare was tied up with a straw rope around her neck by Liu Zhuo and tied it to the front of the house. He fed the rabbit one after another, while sitting on the threshold waiting.

About half an hour later, Liu Dazhi in the room was already drunk, and the village chief and Zhang Shun were flushed when they got up and said goodbye.

Chen Yuzhu sent the guest outside the yard. After returning, she complained that her husband shouldn't have drunk so much wine. While scolding her, she helped Liu Dazhi to bed and told Liu Zhuo to go to bed early and that she would follow Mr. Zhang's carriage on the road tomorrow morning.

Liu Zhuo finally waited for this time and quickly agreed and ran into his room with the rabbit in his arms.

After locking the door, Liu Zhuo couldn't wait to get into the wine jar.

It was already dark outside, but the jar was still bright.

Liu Zhuo first entered the courtyard, put the rabbit in the rabbit cage, and then went to the vegetable garden to observe it. He found that the vegetable field had been abandoned for a long time and was covered with weeds.

Liu Zhuo decided to start weeding first. He rolled up his sleeves and bent down and began to concentrate on his work.

This vegetable garden is only about one acre of land. Just looking at the surface, you can tell that it is quite fertile. Even the weeds grown are particularly bright and tender. Liu Zhuo took some effort to clean up the vegetable field.

Then he left the jar, ran into the woodshed, and secretly took in the hoe and bucket and shoulder pole from his home.

Holding a hoe that was taller than himself, Liu Zhuo began to turn over the soil for the vegetable garden and loosen the soil. He took out the small bag of radish seeds and began sowing seeds.

Although the Liu family did not plow the fields, Liu Zhuo often watched the villagers grow vegetables and grains in the fields. He followed suit and evenly dug dozens of small holes in the vegetable fields, sowed three radish seeds in each pit and covered them with soil.

There were not many radish seeds in the bag, and Liu Zhuo only scattered half of the land, and a small part of the vegetable field was left vacant. He planned to find other crops in the future.

Then, Liu Zhuo took a wooden barrel and shoulder pole to the river to carry water. After he came back, he used a gourd ladle to water each part of the vegetable field one by one.

It took more than two hours in total before Liu Zhuo finished all the steps.

He stretched with great accomplishment and looked at the vegetable garden that had changed drastically in front of him with satisfaction. He thought that in his mind, these radish seeds would definitely sprout and take root after two days outside the jar.

Then, Liu Zhuo thought of the vermilion bird nest and pheasant eggs he got during the day.

In fact, without the female bird hatching eggs, it is impossible for these eggs to hatch by themselves. Liu Zhuo treated them as dead horses. He dug a pit on the ground and put more than a dozen pheasant eggs in it.

He picked up the nest of the vermilion bird again, felt the remaining heat of the fire-bearing grass, and thought to himself: "This fire-bearing grass is worthy of its name. Even if it is dried into a bird's nest, it is still warm in the hand and just used to hatch eggs. It is best if the five vermilion bird's eggs can hatch, which is worth a lot of money."

As he said that, Liu Zhuo pooped to cover the red bird's nest on the surface of the soil pit, just covering all the pheasant eggs tightly.

After finishing these trivial matters, Liu Zhuo inspected the courtyard again. He felt that there was nothing wrong and everything was done, so he felt at ease.

At this moment, he was sleepy, and Liu Zhuo yawned and walked towards the well.
