Chapter 10
Taking the blame
There were six hares in this litter, and they were all knocked unconscious by Bai Xi's pressure. Chen Rui happily picked them up and took credit with Bai Xi.
"Auntie, look, this hare is quite fat."
"Stop crying." Bai Xi joked funnyly.
Chen Rui blushed, wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, and shook her head: "No."
"Yeah." Bai Xi nodded, calculating in her mind, a hare weighs five or six pounds, and these six are quite a lot, enough to feed them for several days.
"As long as my aunt doesn't run around, I won't cry."
Bai Xi selectively ignored Chen Rui's additional words.
Chen Rui looked at Bai Xi's feet in surprise. Only then did she see that there were two wild geese at Bai Xi's feet. She didn't know where they were injured. They were shaking their heads and flapping in a daze.
It took a long time but I couldn't stand up, let alone fly.
"Auntie, this..."
"Bring these two geese with you." The two geese are a pair. The male one weighs more than eight kilograms and the female one weighs more than six kilograms. Bai Xi thinks that if they are stewed, they can last for many days.
Of course, now that the weather is hot and it is difficult to store it, then give some away, or ask the village to find someone to sell it and bring it back in exchange for some rice noodles. Bai Xi doesn't want to drink millet porridge twice a day anymore.
Although Chen Rui was used to farm work and was still young, she couldn't help but feel a little worried when she couldn't lift such a heavy thing.
"Auntie, I, I can't carry it." Her face was full of embarrassment and shame.
Bai Xi didn't find it strange. The hare and wild goose combined weighed more than forty kilograms. Chen Rui was only ten years old. She was also thin and it was normal for her to be unable to carry it.
Looking at her little hands, Bai Xi didn't think she could do anything. The most she could do was hold a hare, which was of no use.
Just when the two were worried, they saw someone going up the mountain. After taking a closer look, Bai Xi immediately raised his voice and called the person over.
"Bai An'an, come here quickly."
Bai Anan was going up the mountain to cut firewood. Unexpectedly, when he reached the foot of the mountain, he heard someone calling him, and the voice sounded a bit like an aunt. He turned around and looked around, and soon saw Chen Rui, and then saw someone climbing up the mountain.
Bai Xi on the big rock.
When Bai Xi called Bai An'an, Chen Rui's face turned ugly, but she had no time to stop her.
"Auntie, why are you here?" Bai Anan ran over as soon as he saw Bai Xi.
Seeing that she couldn't hide, Chen Rui grabbed her clothes and carefully greeted Bai An'an: "Brother An."
"Chen Rui, did you bring your aunt here?"
Chen Rui blinked her eyes, which were red from crying, and looked at Bai Xi. She didn't dare to say that Bai Xi was the one who threatened her, so she could only nod her head and be prepared to be scolded.
"You are so brave! Did you know that there are wild beasts in this mountain? How dare you bring my aunt here? You..." He and Li Qingmei were on guard for the past two days, fearing that my aunt would run down the mountain and escape accidentally.
When they went up the mountain, they didn't know that they had just relaxed a little, and the aunt was brought here by Chen Rui.
The young man's face was full of unconcealable anger. Bai An'an was already angry in his heart. When did this girl Chen Rui become so courageous? She had to tell Uncle Chen later.
"Okay!" When Bai Xi saw Bai An'an teaching Chen Rui a lesson like a young adult, he couldn't help but interrupt: "What kind of beast is it? It's at the foot of the mountain. It's not as scary as you said."
There are dangers in the mountains, Bai Xi naturally knows, but there are so many dangers at the foot of the mountains. If there is danger, why would the village let their children come to cut pig grass and collect firewood?
"Auntie..." Bai Anan was speechless.
"Stop shouting, grandma, I'm fine!" Bai Xi was a little impatient due to hunger. She waved her little fleshy hand to interrupt Bai An'an's words, and then asked: "Where are you planning to go?"
"Auntie, I need to collect firewood."
He could be angry with Chen Rui, but he didn't dare to deal with Bai Xi, so he could only answer angrily, even though he knew that Bai Xi might not be interested in hearing it.
"Oh, that's it." Bai Xi nodded to show that he understood, and said rudely: "Then don't go now, do me a favor first."
Bai Xi made the request in a sweet voice, but Bai An'an didn't think it was too much at all, and hurriedly said: "Auntie, tell me."
However, before Bai Xi said anything, Bai Anan hurriedly said: "Only one, aunt, I can't take you up the mountain with me."
Bai Xi curled her lips angrily: "Who said I was going up the mountain? I'm going back."
When Bai Anan heard this, he immediately smiled and said happily: "That's good, aunt, do you want me to carry you down the mountain first?"
Chen Rui is only ten years old. Bai Anan can't trust Bai Xi to follow Chen Rui at the foot of the mountain. If he falls or encounters a snake or insect, it's not a trivial matter.
"Need not!"
Just when Bai An'an thought that Bai Xi still wanted to go up the mountain, she pointed to the bamboo basket where Chen Rui had poured out pigweed for the hares and geese and said, "You can carry this on your back, and I'll go back with you."
"Okay." He thought Chen Rui had brought some pigweed to cover him, so Bai Anan didn't think much about it. However, after he agreed, the geese in the bamboo basket moved with a few pigweeds on their heads, and immediately asked Bai Anan to
Bewildered, moving?
"Auntie, what's in here?"
"It's the hares and wild geese that I took Chen Rui to hunt." Bai Xi said matter-of-factly.
"Hare and wild geese?" Bai An'an was surprised, and with disbelief, he slowly lifted the pigweed, and he was even more surprised when he saw it.
"Auntie, did you and Chen Rui do this?"
"Otherwise!" Bai Xi looked at Bai An'an's shocked expression and suddenly felt happy. A touch of pride appeared on her face. She was a nine-tailed fairy fox, much smarter than that stupid flower spirit who would embarrass herself and cause trouble if she was useless.
.
However, in just a few days, Bai Xi seemed to have forgotten the majesty she had always maintained in front of others when she was in heaven, and became somewhat in line with the childish temperament she now looks like.
Chen Rui blushed at the side, but she didn't do anything. All this was due to her aunt.
Bai Anan still wanted to ask, but Bai Xi was already urging him impatiently.
"I'm tired. Stop talking nonsense and go back quickly. My feet are sore."
Hearing this, Bai Anan swallowed his words and honestly carried the bamboo basket. When Chen Rui saw it, he quickly cut a few vines, tied up the pig grass he had cut before, and carried it on his shoulder.
Bai Xi did not let Bai Anan hug her, but walked behind Bai Anan.
With Bai Anan leading the way, Bai Xi felt that walking was much easier than when she came with Chen Rui before. At least, there would be no weeds surrounding her to bully her or scratch her.
"Auntie, how could you catch so many hares? And wild geese."
The hare can be said to be more or less acceptable. After all, it can still be caught on the ground, but the wild geese fly in the sky and can be caught wherever they can. Bai Anan couldn't figure it out, so he couldn't help asking on the way
