Chapter 19 19. Goodbye

After eating, it rained a little outside, like a light layer of fog hanging in the air.

"You don't have to work part-time in the store today."

"Okay." Taku Makimura opened the umbrella, "Then I'll go back first?"

"Don't be like this." Ogura Yuki pulled the corner of his sleeve.

"I will send you back first." Taku Makimura reassured her.

Ogura Yuki lowered his head, as if he was looking at the raindrops falling in front of the toes of his shoes: "It's rare to come out, can you stay with me a little longer?"

"Isn't it time to have a meal?"

"How can I put it this way? A girl's mind can change at any time!"

He suddenly remembered that Hoshino Ai had said something similar.

But what exactly that sentence was, when it was said, and where it was said, he could hardly remember.

Only the cute and mysterious smile with raised corners of the mouth still vaguely floats in the memory.

"Forget it." He said, "Let's do it next time. It rained today and I want to go back early."

The rain became heavier and heavier, and someone ran past them with newspapers on their heads, saying "Oh no" as they ran.

Makimura Taku's words blended into the sound of rain, which made Ogura Yuki look a little disappointed.

She didn't know how she raised her head and how she turned her head. When she came to her senses again, only the side face of Taku Makimura, who was looking at the rain curtain, occupied her entire field of vision.

He seemed to be looking at someone, but that person was definitely not him because his eyes couldn't deceive.

On the morning of Christmas Eve, December 24th, the weather was sunny.

"Hello, I'd like a cup of Americano."

"Okay, a cup of Americano," the waitress wrote on paper in a fancy coffee shop, "Can I add sugar?"

"Milk, trouble."

"No problem~"

After she left, Taku Makimura turned over the book he borrowed from the library. The title was "Light and Shadow", written by Junichi Watanabe.

While basking in the warm golden sun shining in from the window, he read the words in the book slowly.

At around nine o'clock, the waitress brought the coffee and he said thank you.

"Please enjoy."

"Thank you." He said again.

"Please use it slowly," someone said from behind.

"No need to open the store in the morning?"

Ogura Yuki walked around to the empty seat in front of him and sat down, putting his hands on the table: "Not for me?"

“Just tell me in advance.”

"Is it too late now?"

"There's enough time." He called the waitress again, who had not gone far, and ordered another cup of the same coffee.

Ten minutes later, the waitress left the freshly brewed coffee on the table and turned to leave.

"What are you reading?" Yuki Ogura asked him after taking a sip of coffee.

"Light and Shadow." Taku Makimura turned the cover of the book to her.

"Does it look good?"

"I quite like it."

“Let’s borrow comics and read them next time!”

"Sexy comics?"

"Sexy comics." She smiled.

Makimura Taku looked at her smiling face, the sun was shining on it impartially, as if he favored her. He also smiled, looked away, and turned the book back a page.

"Makimura," after a while, Ogura Yuki suddenly said as if remembering, while taking a few sips of coffee and looking at the passers-by outside the window, "Tonight is Christmas Eve."

"December 24th." Makimura Taku said softly, without raising his head, as if reading the words on a book, "Indeed."

"Watch a movie with me tonight?"

He raised his head.

"Go watch a movie with me." Ogura Yuki said.

"never mind."

"Forget it again," she glanced at Bai Mucuntuo angrily, "You clearly said you could accompany me out next time. The weather is so good today, why don't you want to?"

"The weather is so nice, I want to go to bed early."

"Excuse."

"It's an excuse indeed."

"Don't make me beg you," she looked over intently and said softly with her lips slightly open, "Okay?"

After she finished speaking, the surroundings suddenly became quiet, extremely quiet, and the only remaining subtle sounds seemed to come from the other end of the phone. It was as if they were not in a coffee shop, but in an exam classroom.

Only Taku Makimura and her looked at each other, and their eyes seemed to be looking at the distant scene.

At this time, there was a bang, someone knocked over the glass, the sound was very harsh, and it brought back all the noise of reality. The sound of footsteps, turning of books, conversations, and clinking of glasses was no different from that in a shunting yard.

The waiter apologized and ran over, while two men were talking about the snow in Yuzawa after Echigo. I heard that it snowed very hard.

"Is that okay?" Ogura Yuki said.

If it were before meeting Hoshino Ai, Makimura Taku would definitely agree casually, but now he doesn't like the feeling of having to separate after getting along, especially when he thinks of Hoshino Ai leaving, that feeling is lingering.

"no."

"OK!"

"The wandering lonely soul does not need a place of bondage."

"From "My Youthful Love Story, There's Really a Problem"."

"you know?"

"I know."

"So no."

"Why not?"

"I prefer being alone."

"Can't you and Miss Hoshino Ai be together?"

"That was before."

"I don't care." She really didn't care and said, her face bulging into a ball.

Makimura Taku stared at her for several seconds, and finally said as if he had no choice but to say: "Forget it, just this time."

"It's so kind of you!"

"Thanks."

At 8:10 pm, they met in front of the pet shop. It got dark very early. The sun was still on in the morning, but at night there was light snow like coarse salt. The snow seemed to be black, and there was no wind on the street.

"coming!"

"It's been a long time coming." Taku Makimura said.

He looked at Yuki Ogura. He was wearing a short camel hair cotton-padded jacket, an over-the-knee skirt with black pantyhose underneath, and brown short boots with a height of five centimeters, which he did not wear.

He wore gloves and a hat, but wore a white scarf and light makeup. It was hard to see clearly in the night.

"You should say you just arrived." Ogura Yuki complained and breathed into his hands.

"Okay, I just arrived."

"If you change your words temporarily, who will accept your words?"

"Why is this my problem?"

"Thank you." She said with a smile, "Let's say this to other girls next time."

"remember."

They didn't hold umbrellas either, and just walked under the light snow.
