Chapter 3 3. Hot spring hotel in Echigo Yuzawa

In the early morning, the train passed through the tunnel and drove into the mountains. The surroundings were completely lit up.

The scenery outside the window seemed to be covered with a thin layer of white gauze.

Snow plows in dark windbreakers, low wooden buildings dotting the snow, and green onions on the roadside in twos and threes.

No matter what I see, there is always a dreamy feeling floating in my heart with the blue sky and white clouds, and I feel extremely relaxed.

In the carriage, Hoshino Ai groaned when he woke up from his sleep. He rubbed his eyes and raised his head, looking at the white ice and snow, and stretched out for a long time.

"Are we here?" she asked in a soft and waxy voice.

"Thirty minutes." Taku Makimura said.

He took out the remaining half pack of low-sugar soda crackers from his bag and handed it over: "I'll make do with it. Breakfast."

"Thank you." Hoshino Ai said softly, spread out his hands to take it, and then asked suddenly as if remembering, "What about you, do you have anything else to eat?"

"I'm not very hungry."

"Not hungry?" She tilted her head.

Makimura Taku said in an unclear voice.

He zipped up his backpack, raised his head, and a finger as clean as white jade touched the tip of his nose.

"What are you doing."

"Lie!" Hoshino Ai said with a smile. It was a mischievous smile.

"It's true." Taku Makimura removed her finger and said calmly, "Besides, I am the only one who can see through lies, and I am the only one in the world, not you."

"How can you be so shameless?" Hoshino Ai pouted.

"It's amazing."

"No one will believe it."

"It's okay if I'm joking."

As he spoke, he took out the travel guide he had read yesterday and tapped it vertically on the desktop, preparing to review it again before arriving at the station.

At this time, there was a click sound from the side, as if something was broken.

Makimura Taku raised his head in confusion, and then handed half a biscuit to his mouth.

"Here." Hoshino Ai said.

"Thank you." After giving up the plan of biting it, Makimura Taku took it.

After the two had breakfast, they looked at the various illustrations and copywriting on the guide for a while.

Because the paper could only face one direction, Hoshino Ai asked him to sit next to her, saying it would be more convenient.

Makimura Taku did not refuse, and the two of them sat on one side, keeping a distance of not too far but not too close.

Ai Hoshino mainly read the illustrations, but he looked at them very carefully, which gave Taku Makimura time to read the copy.

One of the group of photos was quite exquisite. The two of them took a special look at the photographer at the back, whose name was Shinomiya Kaguya.

"Makimura-kun," Hoshino Ai asked him, "do you think someone who can take such interesting photos must be a very interesting guy, right?"

"So?" Taku Makimura noticed something else.

"You too." Hoshino Ai turned to him with a charming smile.

He smiled noncommittally.

Before arriving at the station, Makimura Takugo went to the toilet at the end of the corridor, and Hoshino Ai helped him keep his backpack, luggage, PET bottles and other things.

After returning, the two of them packed up their things, put away the trash, and stared outside the window in tacit understanding.

The sun rises from the end of the snow-capped mountains, and the world is covered in silver, but with a little warmth.

The gentleness of the wind, the tender green of the grass, and the clear sound of the train: no matter how many springs and autumns we experience, this will become an unforgettable memory. That day was November 9th.

They filled the time before arriving at the station with a neither salty nor bland silence.

After the train arrived at the signal station, the two got off the train one after another.

After leaving the station, even though he had expected it, Taku Makimura still didn't expect that the autumn here would be so cold. It would be an exaggeration to say it was the depth of winter.

He tightened his somewhat thin clothes and took a few short steps.

Hoshino Ai glanced at him and took off the white scarf wrapped around his neck: "Do you need it?"

"Thank you, but forget it." Taku Makimura waved his hand in refusal.

"Cold how to do?"

"No, I exercise whenever I have nothing to do. My physique is pretty good."

"People who exercise regularly are more likely to catch colds."

"Yeah."

"Okay..." As if she didn't want to explain anymore, she folded the scarf in half and held it in her hand, "Squat down."

"...Squat down?" Taku Makimura repeated like a robot.

Hoshino Ai thought for a while: "Is it necessary to say 'obedient'?"

"I'll do it myself." Taku Makimura said.

"Then I'll trouble you." She smiled cutely and handed the scarf to Makimura Taku.

The two waited for about twenty-five minutes before taking a bus from the bus stop not far from the platform.

According to the travel guide, they found a hot spring hotel called Hatago Isen to stay.

There were not many guests, but there were only single rooms left. The rest were occupied by family tour groups, and they were planning to open two rooms.

"Would one room be better?" Hoshino Ai asked him next to him when he was opening a room. "If we open two rooms, it would cost more than 20,000 yuan per night."

The price for a room is 24,370 yen.

Makimura Taku was stunned for a moment: "It doesn't matter if I'm a boy, but it doesn't matter to you? If you live with me, aren't you afraid of what I will do to you?"

"How do you treat me?" Hoshino Ai made a strange expression.

The young kimono woman in charge of registering passenger information at the front desk looked at the two of them and said with a smile:

"For couples, registering a room is actually enough. Although it is a single room, the beds in our inn are quite large and the pillows are enough for two people."

"Sorry, we are not a couple." Taku Makimura replied.

"I'm sorry," the woman in kimono said with some regret, "Looking at the two of them, they look so well matched, and their temperaments match so well. It's perfectly possible to say that they are a talented man and a beautiful woman... but they are not a couple."

Makimura Taku pondered for a moment: "Maybe there are some similarities."

He was about to take out enough cash from the hidden layer of the bag when a voice suddenly interrupted his movement.

"Please book a room instead." Hoshino Ai said to the kimono-clad woman.

"Ms. Hoshino?"

"Listen to me." She looked at Taku Makimura with unquestionable determination.

Makimura Taku licked the tips of his teeth and did not answer.

The kimonoed woman at the front desk looked at them back and forth: "This guest, which room did you finally decide on?"

"One room." Hoshino Ai said to him again.

A middle-aged man wearing a coat and a black woolen hat to keep out the cold walked in from outside the hotel, his rubber-soled shoes making the floor squeaking.

As he passed behind Takuo Makimura, a unique aroma of Japanese sake emanated from his body.

"Okay..." Makimura Taku sniffed and nodded, "Please book a room."

"OK."

They paid for the room for five days in advance, but they didn't need to pay a deposit. The money was paid 50-50 for both of them.

After returning to the room to tidy up, Makimura Taku took off his scarf as if he remembered it.

Looking back, Hoshino Ai was lying on the tatami covered with a thick quilt with a look of enjoyment on his face.

"It's so comfortable!" She couldn't help but sigh.

Taku Makimura casually spread the scarf on her body, just covering her rising and falling chest.

She stared at it blankly: "Are you no longer using it?"

"yes."

"Okay." She remained motionless, feeling the warmth from the quilt.

At this time, the wind stopped completely, and even though the windows were open, the room didn't feel too cold.
