Chapter 8: The last day in Echigo Yuzawa(2/3)
At some point, Ai Hoshino ran to a place four meters away, kneading another snowball in her hand.
Makimura Taku looked at her, with a smile on her face that could be seen clearly even in the middle of the night.
She declared again:
"What I have done, what I have not done. The past, the present, the future. I, Hoshino Ai, want them all!"
The snowball was thrown over again, with a crack that woke up the moonlight.
Under the soft silvery moonlight, Hoshino Ai's body seemed to be shrouded in a faint, looming halo.
There was no wind that night, the barking sounds sounded like wolves howling, and the snow did not fall for a minute.
The two had a snowball fight, bathing in the bright white moonlight without any worries and greedily.
Until the last snowball fell, the night was dark and the mountains seemed to be trapped in the frozen starry sky.
Satisfied, they returned to the hotel and changed their shoes.
Ai Hoshino took a bath towel to the women's hot spring, while Taku Makimura continued to exercise as always.
By the time Takuya Makimura came back from his hot spring bath, Ai Hoshino was already watching his "The Great Gatsby".
"Is there anything else you want to do?" Makimura asked her with a smile as he sat on the tatami.
"What?" Hoshino Ai raised his head.
"Is there anything else you want to do?" Makimura Taku joked, "If you can think of anything else, it's probably still too late before we fall asleep."
"Hmm..." Hoshino Ai thought for a while and said mischievously, "Catching fish by cutting through the ice?"
"I'm afraid that doesn't make sense."
"Then let's drink the sake here once?"
"Aren't you still a minor?"
"Have a sweet dream!"
"That's fine tonight."
"I hope so." She closed the book and raised the corner of her mouth with a nice smile.
In the hotel room, the firelight flickered on the hearth.
Outside the blinds, the sky was dark and deep, but the mountains were glowing with a lovely white light.
After the fire and lights were extinguished, the two slept on opposite sides of the bed, back to back.
The moonlight scattered through the gaps in the blinds and onto the floor, making the field of view incredibly bright.
In the quiet space, someone made a sound.
"Makimura-kun."
"I am here."
"Makimura Taku."
"I am here."
"Makimura."
"yes."
"You want to say I'm here."
"I'm here," Taku Makimura said.
"Can I call you Makimura?" Hoshino Ai's voice came from behind.
"No problem, I don't care about this."
"Makimura."
"I am here."
After a moment of silence, Hoshino Ai's voice came again: "I'm actually not good at remembering people's names. Do you believe it?"
"This sentence is not a lie."
"But I still remember you." Hoshino Ai said.
She seemed to have turned around.
"I remember your name is Makimura, and your full name is Makimura Taku. Although I always call you Makimura-kun, I just remember it."
Makimura Taku looked at the silver glow falling on the ground.
He responded gently: "Thank you, I will remember your name too."
"explain."
"Hoshino Ai."
"You always call me Miss Hoshino."
"But I just remember."
"Thanks."
She seemed to have turned around again.
"To be honest, I always call my guardian by the wrong name. I can't tell whether it's Saito, Sato or Saito every time. It's ridiculous."
"Quite cute."
The sound seemed to suddenly disappear again.
The moonlight lengthened the shadows cast by the wooden bars of the shutters.
after awhile.
"Makimura."
"I am here."
"Maybe I remember talented people better." Hoshino Ai's voice floated gently into the darkness.
Taku Makimura responded to her: "To tell you the truth, I often feel that I am a talented person."
"Not modest at all."
"I was influenced by you."
"What talents do you have?"
"He's handsome."
Hoshino smiled fondly: "Even so, looks are not a talent."
"Then I insist on exercising, like reading, be polite, treat others equally, and never slack off. When I was in high school, my grades were basically in the top five for my age. Do these count as talents?"
"Are you so powerful?"
"yes."
"amazing!"
"The amazing Taku Makimura." Taku Makimura said.
"The amazing Taku Makimura!" Ai Hoshino repeated, "Such an amazing Taku Makimura, in my opinion, there is something even more amazing!"
"What?"
"secret!"
"I knew it."
"whee."
Under the moonlight, they talked and talked endlessly, as if they really wanted to finish a lifetime's work tonight.
"What do you like?" Taku Makimura asked her.
"Secret." Hoshino Ai answered.
"What is your favorite book?"
"This is also a secret."
"what do you like eating?"
"That's a secret too."
"Have you ever been in love?"
"secret."
"What's your favorite type?"
"secret."
"It's all a secret?"
To be continued...
