Episode 02 Reporting the case in a hurry

Chapter 02: Feng Feng Huo Huo came to report the crime and hurriedly left the cattle pen

In June 1996, the weather had already started to get hot. Along with the hot weather, there were also cases of cattle being stolen in rural areas. Moreover, the cases broke out one after another.

On the morning of the 18th, Lei Zhengfeng, a villager from Leijiawan, Xiaoquan Village, Jiangnan Town, hurriedly came to the Jiangnan Police Station to report the crime. Soon, Lei Zhengfeng was sitting in the office of our criminal team.

According to the normal procedure, after asking about the simple basic information, Lao Lei introduced the case: the two cattle that were kept in the cattle pen disappeared last night. A yellow cattle is three years old and a water cattle is four years old. They were discovered this morning.

After it disappeared, I mobilized my family to search everywhere along the bay, at the head of the road, and in the mountains. However, I couldn't find it. I suspected it had been stolen, so I came to the police station to report the crime.

While Lao Lei was telling me about the situation, tears were streaming down his face. From time to time, he wiped his eyes with his wrinkled hands. After wiping, he wiped them on the corners of his clothes.

Seeing Lao Lei looking pitiful and sad, my heart aches; but I know that when handling a case, I cannot act emotionally, as this will affect my correct thinking and affect my emotions. Later, I became more rational and gave it to others.

I feel that the criminal police officers are a bit insensitive, but in fact they are very unjust.

It was my first time to come into contact with a rural case, and it was also my first time to come into contact with a cattle theft case, so I asked more about the situation.

"Master Lei, is this cow valuable?" I asked. Although I am also from a rural area, I have been studying abroad for these years and have basically not been engaged in agricultural activities. I really don't know the value of cows.

"Comrade Li, they are valuable. A cow costs several thousand yuan, and larger cows cost tens of thousands. Being valuable is one thing, but on the other hand, the key is that we farmers cannot live without cows. You see

Ah, this plowing land, this plowing field, how can it be done without oxen?" Lao Lei replied, continuing to wipe his tears.

"Oh." I replied.

Seeing that I still didn't understand, Lao Lei stopped wiping his tears and continued:

"Nowadays, the production is distributed to each household. Basically, several or even a dozen households share one cow. When the farming season is busy, it is because everyone needs the cow to do work in the fields. And it is very urgent. It needs to be rushed.

Due to the season, sometimes several families would bump into each other, and quarrels and fights would inevitably occur.

I couldn't get used to this kind of competition between neighbors, so I gritted my teeth and borrowed some money from my relatives to buy these two cows. This would make it easier for me to catch up with the farming season during the busy farming period and not delay the season.

On the other hand, during this season, you can rent out your cattle to make some money."

"Oh." I continued to answer.

"Comrade Li, are you not from the countryside?" Lao Lei asked.

"I am from a rural area, and we share a cow with several families. However, no matter which family uses the cow, it is easy to talk and discuss. There has never been any dispute over the use of the cow." I answered.

"Sigh. The people here are not as good as yours. We can quarrel over the use of cattle or the release of water." Lao Lei sighed.

Seeing that I couldn't find out anything special, I went to team leader Ajian and told him about the report.

When team leader Ajian heard about the stolen cattle, he immediately pushed out the sidecar from the garage without saying a word, asked me to sit behind him, and gave up my exclusive sidecar position to Lao Lei, saying he was afraid.

Lao Lei was sitting behind him. If he accidentally fell off the car, he would be in trouble.

After sitting down, team leader Ajian drove his three-wheel motorcycle and set off along the tractor road, bumping all the way to Leijiawan.

I'm surprised. After I reported the case of hemp storage worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in West Street, I didn't see you, Team Leader Ajian, personally go to the scene to see it. How come the cattle worth tens of thousands of dollars were stolen?

Is the case so urgent?

Two cattle, worth more than 10,000 yuan, are a big deal for farmers anyway. At the same time, it is almost the summer planting and harvest season, which is also the season for using cattle. How can farmers not lose cattle at this time?

Anxious? Therefore, I think it was for this reason that Team Leader Ajian set off immediately after listening to the introduction.

Leijiawan is located at the junction of Dongyang and Zhening. Although it is said that the area belongs to Jiangnan Town, in fact, it is a place that neither of them cares about. The police station cannot go there even once a year, and it is my first time to go there.

First, because there are very few cases reported to the police by villagers, the police station has no reason to go. This may be due to the fact that there are only a few cases reported.

There are fewer cases, maybe because it is far away from the township, which is closer to Xiaoxi Town, Zhenning County; moreover, the people are too lazy to report the crime. To report the crime, you have to run around, which is quite tiring and has to be done.

The transcript is very annoying to be questioned by the police station. In addition, the police station may not be able to solve the case, and if you run away, it will be in vain.

Second, even if a security case occurs, it is still a dispute between neighbors. It is a trivial matter. Either you occupy my house or I drain the water from your field. This kind of matter can be resolved within the village, which is basically the case.

Being digested by the village cadres, there will be no trouble at the police station, and the police station will be quiet and relaxed. In those remote places, a village party secretary is the executor and representative of the law, and the villagers must listen to the village party secretary in everything.

Two hours later, when we arrived at Leijiawan, team leader Ajian took me to check out the cattle pen where the two cows lived. The cattle pen is located on the edge of the village, next to the tractor road, on the west side of the road, standing alone.

There, far away from Leijiawan.

This is a low house, a little more than two meters high. The roof is covered with straw and the surroundings are made of adobe bricks. There are no windows. There is only one door, not even a door panel. The door frame is empty and isolated.

It is full of traces of wind and rain.

As soon as I walked in, the light immediately dimmed. The smell of dampness, the unpleasant smell of cow dung, mixed with the smell of straw formed a mixed smell that quickly filled my clothes, mouth, nose and every other part of my body.

Space stimulates my senses, I just stay

After three or five minutes, he hurriedly ran out of the cattle pen, bent down, gasped for air, and kept swinging his hands in front of his nostrils, fanning the wind to drive away the smell. I really couldn't stand the smell inside!

Besides, it’s dark inside, so what can you see?

Team Leader Ah Jian came out a few minutes later than me, and obviously did not react as strongly as I did. When he saw that I was still panting and waving my hands, he said to Lao Lei:

"When did you bring the cow in?"

"I got him in at around six o'clock last night," Lao Lei replied.

"Then when did you find out that the cow was missing?" Team Leader Ajian continued to ask.

"After getting up at around five o'clock in the morning, I was going to take the cows to plow the fields. As soon as I entered the cattle pen, I found that both cows were missing." It was Lao Lei's voice again.

"Is there anything suspicious?" Ajian asked deeply.

"I was looking for cattle today and met Ah Xue in the bay. He said that when he came home at twelve o'clock in the evening, he passed by the cattle pen and heard the sound of cattle grazing inside." Lao Lei quickly replied.

I think it is basically certain that the crime occurred in the latter part of the night, that is, in the early morning, and the specific time is from 0 to 5 o'clock.

"Why can't it be said that the cow escaped?" Ajian asked.

"This is impossible! Team Leader Ajian, this is absolutely impossible!" Lao Lei became anxious, "The rope on the cow's nose is tied to an iron ring on the ground. The iron ring is still there, but the rope is not found. If the cow is

After breaking free of the rope, at least half of the rope should remain on the hoop." Lao Lei repeatedly emphasized that he was the one who tied the cow rope last night. After tying it, he pulled it and tried it to make sure it would not fall off before leaving.

It seemed that the cow was really stolen, not like it escaped, I thought to myself.

"Then you call Ah Xue over and I'll ask about the situation." I said.

Ah Xue came soon, and the situation he described was basically the same as what Lao Lei introduced.

I looked at Ah Xue from head to toe, from feet to head, and looked again and again. He was a thin and weak man who could fall over in the wind. He didn't look like a thief. If such a person were to be a thief, he would be a thief.

How can you run if you are discovered or bump into someone?

"What were you doing in the middle of the night?" I asked, still worried.

"Water is being released in my field. I was afraid that others would release my water, so I went to take a look." Ah Xue explained hurriedly.

"Did you see anything suspicious?" I wanted to find some clues.

"No, I didn't see anything." Ah Xue answered truthfully.

"Oh." I said feebly.

Seeing that I couldn't get anything out of the question, I didn't bother to talk to Ah Xue. I looked at Ah Jian and he signaled that Ah Xue could leave.

After Ah Xue left, Ah Jian took me, accompanied by Lao Lei, to visit several houses near the cattle pen.

The villagers are relatively honest and answer whatever we ask. They don't take the initiative to tell us anything we don't ask. We visited more than a dozen houses and also asked many passers-by. However, we couldn't tell anything about the case.
