Chapter 2 The Beautiful Man in the Sky
Take it as it comes, Li Shuguang didn't think too much. What should come will eventually come. The most important thing now is to adapt to the new identity.
Li Shuguang is now only twenty-four years old. He looks high-spirited and a bit handsome. Li Shuguang is still very satisfied with this body.
The difference is that today's Li Shuguang is a promising young man who came out of Shanghai. His parents are both university professors, and he comes from an intellectual family.
In his previous life, Li Shuguang was just a rural child. His parents were farmers with their backs turned to the sky, and they had no pension to receive when they got old.
But things are different now. Both my parents are intellectuals and will have a lot of pensions in the future, so I don’t have to worry about providing for my parents in the future. I just need to focus on my career.
As a military fan and particularly interested in aviation, Li Shuguang now has the opportunity to show off his skills. After all, although he was just a wage earner in his previous life, he has always paid attention to the development of the aviation industry and knows very well about aviation.
The general context of technological development, and now he is a professional aircraft designer, so the combination of the two can produce some butterfly effects, and it is not impossible to change the future of China's aviation industry.
Now Li Shuguang is a designer at the Shenyang Aircraft Design Institute, following Chief Engineer Gu Xinhua, engaged in the development of the J-8 fighter jet.
Li Shuguang was very familiar with the J-8 fighter jet, which later became known as the handsome man in the air.
In the 1980s and even the 1990s, the J-8 fighter was indeed the most handsome domestic fighter. Of course, there was definitely a big gap compared to the foreign third-generation fighters of the same period, both in terms of technical performance and appearance.
The gap is large.
It is now the summer of 1982, and the J-8 Day type has long been finalized, while the all-weather J-8 I type only made its first successful flight more than two months ago.
At the same time, in order to provide the J-8 fighter with better air combat performance, especially to free up space in the nose of the aircraft and install a high-power airborne fire control radar, the Shenyang Institute also undertook the design and development of the J-8 II fighter.
This project was officially launched last year, with Gu Xinhua as the chief designer and Li Shuguang as a structural designer on the team.
Compared with the J-8I fighter, the J-8 II fighter has changed greatly in appearance and structure. The most important thing is to change the air intake from the nose to the air intake from both sides, so that there is more space in the nose. This model is planned
Install a Type 208 fire control radar.
It's a pity that China's aviation radar is also very backward. The Type 208 radar is only a single-pulse radar. Although it can theoretically guide over-the-horizon air-to-air missiles, it does not work in practice.
That’s why the Peace Model project was launched later, sending the J-8II fighter jets to the United States and allowing American aircraft designers to install advanced Doppler airborne fire control radars on them to achieve true beyond-visual-range air combat capabilities.

But in the end this plan failed, not only wasting a lot of manpower and material resources, but also precious time.
Of course, on the other hand, it also enabled Chinese aircraft designers to learn some advanced foreign aircraft design concepts and specifications.
It can be considered a blessing in disguise, but overall this project was a failure.
In fact, in the long run, the J-8 series fighter jets are a failed project, but there is no way now, and Li Shuguang cannot change it. Even if he is more powerful than Chief Master Gu, he cannot change it.
The only thing that can be done is to find a way to make the J-8 II more advanced, at least not to send it to the United States and let the Americans have to deal with it.
Next, it is more important to concentrate on the research of third-generation fighter jets.
In his previous life, Li Shuguang also didn't like Shen Fei very much. After all, in the bidding for third-generation aircraft, the plan proposed by Shen Fei was really not good. He was defeated by the rising star Chengfei and lost the third-generation aircraft project.
Without the third-generation aircraft project, Shenyang Aircraft Corporation has continued to improve its J-8 fighter jets, which has been criticized by military fans.
In the 1990s, after the Su-27 and Su-30 fighter jets were introduced, Shenyang Aircraft Company began to imitate them again, and continued to follow the same old path, which made countless military fans scold them very harshly.
At first, Li Shuguang thought it was disappointing that Shenyang could not fly, but later he gradually understood that the technology of China's aviation industry at that time was too backward. If we did not learn from the technology of the third-generation heavy-duty aircraft, how could we achieve a leap forward? .
Although it has been scolded, Shen Fei continued to develop and produce the J-11 series and the J-16 heavy-duty fighter jets, which surpassed the original Soviet fighter jets.
There is also the J-15 carrier-based fighter, China's first carrier-based fighter, which was also developed by Shenfei. Although it also borrowed the design of the Su Sansan carrier-based fighter, in any case, it has achieved zero carrier-based fighter breakthrough.
However, when bidding for the fourth-generation aircraft, Shenfei failed again. It lost the fourth-generation stealth fighter project. Shenfei was not defeated. It raised its own funds to develop the FC31 twin-engine medium-sized stealth fighter. Although it was said to be a foreign trade product After many years of development, there was no customer purchase, but in the end Shenfei saved the country through a curve and improved the FC31 into a domestic second-generation carrier-based fighter, the J-35 stealth carrier-based fighter. The significance of this fighter can be said to be no less than The J-20 heavy-duty stealth fighter is the most important aircraft on the Navy's aircraft carrier. With the J-35 carrier-based fighter, the Navy's aircraft carrier formation can say that it is not afraid of the American aircraft carrier formation.
Because the American aircraft carrier has the F35 stealth carrier-based fighter, it would definitely not be able to do it with a third-and-a-half-generation carrier-based fighter like the J-15. But with the J-35 carrier-based fighter, the two sides are on the same level.
It's just that Shen Fei's highlight moment came a little later.
Now that I have become a member of Shenfei, I must work hard to make Shenfei really take off and develop more advanced military aircraft for the motherland.
Bang bang bang!
Someone knocked on the door, and Li Shuguang came to his senses. He opened the door and saw that it was his colleague Wang Wei from the J-8 II aerodynamics team.
Wang Wei stared at Li Shuguang and said: "Shuguang, what are you doing in there with the door closed?"
Li Shuguang chuckled and said: "I'm not doing anything, I'm just wondering whether our model mission will go smoothly in the next step!"
Wang Wei didn't suspect anything. He pulled Li Shuguang away and explained: "Chief Master Gu was looking for you just now. It seems there is something important."
Li Shuguang said with some surprise: "Really? My calculations couldn't be wrong, right? If that's the case, I would be so sorry to Master Gu."
