Chapter 165: Traveling together and eating together(1/2)
The next day, when Zhong Sheng woke up, his scalp felt a little itchy.
This is a good sign, it means the wound is healing and the skin is growing.
Bodhidharma is sitting aside, probably doing morning lessons, reciting scriptures that he doesn't understand.
"Sanskrit?"
Zhong Shengxin had a guess that what he memorized should be the original version, not a translation.
"Young man, you might as well come over and recite sutras with me, and be calm."
Bodhidharma sends an invitation.
From the first moment he saw Zhong Sheng, he knew that this man was born evil and he was someone I, the Buddha, must save.
So he continued to be tonsured and had a good relationship with Zhong Sheng.
Even keeping Zhongsheng by his side is to subtly eliminate the evil spirit deep in Zhongsheng's character.
Chanting sutras is the first step in planning.
Zhong Sheng waved his hand, "Master, I am clumsy and can't learn."
"Learn a few sentences from high to low."
"Well, I actually know a scripture."
Da Mo became interested, "You talk, I listen."
Infinite curse!
Zhong Sheng bit the bullet and said, "Infinite light, infinite curse!"
Bodhidharma waited for a moment, but there was nothing else to say except this sentence.
"Hmm!"
"It's okay, my team focuses on meditation, so you can practice it even if you don't understand the scriptures."
"Come, come, I will teach you the method of meditation.
When Zhong Sheng heard that there was such a good thing, he only needed to meditate and fall asleep, without reading or doing homework.
It sounds like this Zen sect is pretty good, very different from other Buddhist sects.
However...
"Meditation is not sleeping."
I don’t know how many times later, Bodhidharma woke Zhong Sheng from his sleep, and he was quite angry.
"I'm sorry, I can't help it when I close my eyes."
Zhong Sheng rubbed the back of his head and apologized.
The whole day, Bodhidharma remained silent and ignored Zhong Sheng.
When Zhong Sheng thought that he would be driven away if he offended him, the next day...
"Young man, I realized all night long that you are the opportunity given to me by the Buddha to give me a son."
"I can make stubborn rocks nod and rotten trees bloom."
"You are dull in nature, like a stubborn stone or a rotten tree. I, Bodhidharma, will teach you as practice."
After one night, Bodhidharma ignited a burning fighting spirit and began to devote himself to teaching Zhong Sheng.
Zhong Sheng felt bad. This monk was a good man and he couldn't bear it!
"Meditation is meditation. Everything is outside, but my heart is the only one."
Bodhidharma explained the truth over and over again.
With such careful one-on-one teaching, Zhong Sheng, no matter how dull he was, still figured out some tricks.
The mind is compared to a field, and practice is like weeding. It must be worked every day. If it is left uncultivated every day, it will become a weed. Zen meditation is to keep the mind free of weeds and spotless.
Eminent monks and great virtues, like hard-working farmers, can eradicate any tiny weed.
Zhong Sheng definitely couldn't do it, so he had to find another way.
Planting crops on the field can squeeze out the growth space of weeds and achieve the same purpose.
Zhong Sheng always falls asleep during meditation. The reason is that he does not have a fixed spiritual anchor.
By setting up a spiritual anchor point and eliminating other distracting thoughts, you can concentrate and reach the introductory state of meditation.
"Infinite light, infinite curse."
Zhong Sheng recited the six words of the Infinite Mantra over and over again to get rid of the urge to doze off.
In this way, there are unexpected miraculous effects.
That evening, Zhong Sheng opened his eyes, feeling refreshed and did not fall asleep. He successfully completed his first meditation.
The sunset on the horizon looks particularly wonderful.
"Master, I have entered concentration."
Da Bodhidharma is sitting by the fire, cooking something.
"Success is just the first step."
Bodhidharma asked Zhong Sheng to sit next to him and said, "Eat."
The hot soup is boiling in the pot, stewing intestines, tripe, heart, lungs and other mutton offal, and the aroma is fragrant.
"Huh?"
Zhong Sheng looked at Bodhidharma, master, can you eat this?
"Today I met a family who was slaughtering a sheep. They used the mutton and mutton bones for themselves and gave away some offal lungs."
"I have washed away the filth and made it clean."
Anyone who can eat meat without taboos is a good monk.
First there was the monk Ming, and then there was the great master Bodhidharma. Zhong Sheng's dislike of Buddhism was slightly reduced.
In the next few days, Zhong Sheng concentrated on stabilizing his state.
Entering samadhi is the first step across the threshold. You must consolidate your foundation to avoid falling out.
Zhong Sheng silently recited the six-character Infinite Mantra and repeatedly performed human concentration, which verified the feasibility of this method.
Finally, after four or five days of hard work, I finally got started.
"Master, what are you going to eat today?
Zhong Sheng woke up from meditation and walked skillfully to Bodhidharma.
"Boil pearls in clear water."
Is this thing edible?
Zhong Sheng lowered his head and looked into the pot. He saw pearls of different sizes and mottled colors with strange shapes.
Pearls are beautiful because of their color, roundness, and size. If they do not meet the standards, they are defective products.
What is boiling in the pot is worthless eliminated pearls.
"I didn't have time to eat today. I only had a handful of pearls. I was careful about eating."
"Master, this thing is just a stone, you can't eat it."
Zhong Sheng tried hard to persuade.
Bodhidharma said gently, "It doesn't matter, Buddhism can boil stones, let alone pearls?"
Okay, I'm going to be hungry today.
Zhong Sheng squinted his eyes and waited until midnight, dozing off several times in succession, only to see Bodhidharma standing in front of the pot.
In the past, if I didn't eat a meal, I would feel hungry, but since I practiced meditation, my physical desire for food and drink has actually weakened a bit.
I wanted to fall asleep, but Bodhidharma wouldn't sleep, and he couldn't close his eyes.
"It's done."
Just before dawn, I heard Bodhidharma speaking.
In a pot of steaming soup, pearls floated on the surface.
Zhong Sheng got half the bowl and poured it into his mouth with his eyes closed. With his teeth, he could chew even pearls and gems.
Just try to crush it as much as possible without making the particles too big, otherwise it will scratch your throat.
"Huh?"
After swallowing a mouthful of pearl soup, it was not rough at all, but surprisingly smooth.
The pearls are indeed boiled and are softer and glutinous than glutinous rice balls.
"Master, you have such magical powers."
To be continued...
