Chapter 24 The Rendezvous

When Geralt woke up from the living room of Misha's house, the sun had just crossed the Blue Mountains and cast its light onto the ground.

Last night, after he solved Misha's commission, he taught a lesson to several troublemakers who wanted to provoke him and got the reward he deserved from the bearded village chief who wanted to delay paying.

But his body was exhausted throughout the day of high-intensity exercise, and he was really not allowed to enter the forest overnight and meet Wayne.

However, out of the responsibility of being the only witch hunter apprentice in decades, Bailang took advantage of the dawn to get into the forest in the cold wind of early spring.

But when he held his mount and drove through the mountain road in the forest for two hours, his clothes and hair were covered with cold dew from the morning, and his body shivered slightly by the coldness, and finally arrived near the cave he found yesterday,

The scene that caught his eye made him stunned on the spot.

I saw that the boy Wayne, who made him worried last night, was sitting on a black horse with the beautiful female elf he saw yesterday, with a close attitude and leisurely walking in the forest.

The most annoying thing is that the hateful boy hugged the elf's slender waist with one hand and pulled the reins of the horse with the other. After seeing him, he was not guilty at all. Instead, he showed a carefree smile and rode his horse away.

Arrived beside him.

"Gealot, you came so early."

"This horse is a gift from Toluville to me. She is teaching me how to ride a horse."

"When we have completed her commission, we can all ride together."

After hearing Wayne's words, Geralt was even more surprised. In this era, a good horse is a valuable asset. Except for aristocrats, it is basically impossible for anyone to give a good horse to others.

However, looking at the boy's smiling face, Geralt couldn't help but feel angry, and said in a slight tone:

"It seems that you had a good night's life. Compared with the fragrant elf, it must be much better than me at the farmer's house, smelling cow dung and eating noodles."

In just one night, his junior established a relationship with the female elf commander in front of him and received such a gift. There must be something unknown about it.

Thinking of this, even the cold on his body was temporarily forgotten by him.

Toluvier frowned when he heard this, and did not expose Wayne's lie. This was something they had said before. Although it was not clear why Wayne concealed Geralt's money, she would not rush to do so.

The socket affects the relationship between the two.

Wayne wanted to say something else, but when he saw Geralt's hair, the remaining dew on his body, and his slightly trembling body, he immediately understood why Bailang came so early and why he was a little embarrassed.

Can't stay warm.

He turned over and dismounted, landed beside Geralt, patted his shoulder, and said:

"Toruvier is a sensible leader, much better than those rude and cunning troublemakers."

"Let's go, we go into the cave first, there are bonfires in the camp, and their prepared breakfast."

"We just happened to discuss the entrusted matter."

Half an hour later.

After breakfast, the three of them gathered around a bonfire, enjoying the warmth brought by the flames while softly discussing the issue of the elves' remains.

Geralt leaned forward, holding his chin with one hand and a firewood in the other, and said in a hoarse voice:

"Wayne, Toluville, clearing an underground ruin is not easy."

"I have done similar commissions. That time, it took me half a month to kill hundreds of monsters before I could clean up a small underground temple."

"Ghost, water ghost, evil ghost, little fog demon, swamp witch, Andregg swarm."

"There are countless monsters living in the underground environment. We are not sure what monsters we will encounter during the cleaning process."

Wayne nodded when he heard this, reached out to take the cider pot handed to him by Toluville, poured a glass of Geralt beside him, and then said:

"It's not a problem, Geralt."

"We are witch hunters and have enough time to clear the remains. Toluville is willing to provide all the help, not forcing us to complete the mission in a short time, and can even send their warriors to help us."

He turned his head and looked at the female elf commander, told Geralt about the conditions they had agreed on before.

"After the commission is completed, Toluvier is willing to pay us one thousand five hundred Dukats, or a quarter of the loot in the ruins."

"This is a huge sum of money, enough for us to spend a long time."

After hearing such a generous reward, Geralt pursed his lips and looked up at Wayne. Seeing that his junior seemed to have made up his mind, he stopped objecting to anything.

This job was originally within the scope of the witch hunter's ability to accept, and the reward was so generous, but because of some danger, he was worried about Wayne's safety.

If he were the only one, he might have agreed long ago.

Geralt sighed in slightest and said to Wayne:

"Okay, Wayne, I'll go to the forest to collect herbs later, kill some monsters and replenish the potion reserves."

"Don't be idle either. Prepare the tools you need to refine medicine, and then go to the camp to ask if they have silver there, and find a way to coat your steel sword with a silver coating."

"There are so many monsters in the ruins. Only by using the silver sword can we cause the greatest damage to them."

After Geralt finished speaking, Toluville spoke:

"Don't worry, White Wolf, Wayne has talked to me about this before."

"I have asked the blacksmith Wickson in the camp to prepare the iron felt and stove. Everyone should have some silver jewelry in their hands. Although the conditions are simple, his skills are very good and he should be able to help a little."

Upon hearing this, Geralt couldn't help but nodded slightly. To be honest, in his career as a demon hunter, he rarely encountered an employer who was willing to support their work and cooperated with them to prepare for the pre-war preparations.

What I encounter on weekdays are either arrogant, ignorant idiots, nobles, wealthy businessmen, self-righteous and decent people, or cunning and shameless people who want to make a fortune.

If every employer is willing to cooperate with them like this, then the work of the witch hunter will be countless times easier.

Geralt pursed his lips, tasted the delicious and sweet cider in his hand, and closed his eyes with great pleasure.

After more than ten seconds, he said:

"Let's just do it for the time being, Wayne, Toluville, let's have a break today and make all the pre-war preparations."

"When it's dawn tomorrow, we will start cleaning up this ruins."
