Chapter 1 Archaeological Team(1/2)

Wuxi County is located at the southern foot of the eastern section of Daba Mountain. It has numerous mountainous areas and a complex environment, resulting in unique tourism resources.

In this land, a mysterious witch culture and ancient relics related to witch culture have spread, attracting countless interested people to come here for sightseeing and experience the mysterious atmosphere of witch culture.

In July 2010, somewhere in the mountains of Wuxi, an archaeological team was excavating an ancient ruins of the Wu tribe that had been discovered not long ago.

This site had been buried underground for a long time. Perhaps it was the impact of the Wenchuan earthquake two years ago that brought it back to the world. It was not discovered until more than a month ago by a mountain man in Wuxi County.

The climate in the jungle is hot and humid, and it is also constantly harassed by poisonous insects and snakes, which makes people miserable.

On the top of a slope, several tents were pitched irregularly, and the surrounding bushes were cut down.

It was in the afternoon, and the sun was shining through the gaps between the leaves. A dozen archaeologists were hiding in tents to cool off and sleep.

In one of the single-person tents, there was only one young man, about 22 or 23 years old, thin and ordinary in appearance. His name was Ling Yu. He was a junior at Sichuan University, studying environmental protection.

Engineering major.

How could he, a college student in environmental studies, follow the archaeological team to a place where birds don't poop?

It’s a long story. He fell in love with a girl in school, and the girl was a graduate student majoring in archeology. During the summer vacation, she participated in an archaeological team organized by the school on ancient ruins of witchcraft culture.

Ling Yu has been chasing this girl for more than a year, but there has been no progress. He simply applied to join. In this case, there should be some progress in a summer vacation.

Of course, it is not easy to join the archaeological team. You must be a graduate student majoring in archeology, geology or history, and there are only seven places.

The others are naturally the archaeological experts, geological experts and logistics and security personnel who lead the team.

This is not a problem for Ling Yu. He is a native of Wuxi County, and his ancestors have produced many wizards who pretended to be gods. If it were not for the environmental factors after liberation, he would definitely be a wizard family with a long history.

Although Ling Yu is not a wizard, he has a deep understanding of this aspect. As the only male of the Ling family's generation, his grandfather has instilled a lot of knowledge about witchcraft into him since he was a child.

Of course, he still doesn't believe in witchcraft, and treats it as a superstition that goes against scientific concepts.

Ling Yu's knowledge about witches now came into use, so he passed the strict examination and became a member of the archaeological team with honor.

Life has been hard for the past half month, but being with the girl I love is a kind of compensation.

After resting for more than an hour, the archaeological team started working again.

Most of the ancient ruins are buried underground and require a lot of time to excavate.

The harvest this time has been pretty good. It was initially judged that this should be a large-scale shaman-god sacrificial site in the Stone Age, and some sacrificial stone tools and even bones were unearthed.

From what Ling Yu learned, the Stone Age was the pinnacle of witch culture. In this vast mountain, there were a large number of witch tribes who established witch god altars or witch temples and used living people to sacrifice to the witch gods.

Rumor has it that there is a wizard in the witch tribe who can communicate with the witch god through witchcraft and can predict the future to prevent the tribe from being harmed by natural disasters, outsiders and enemies. They are also responsible for correcting mistakes, measuring right and wrong, controlling nature and explaining terror.

The phenomenon.

Whether it is true or not is impossible to say, but the fact that it has been passed down to this day illustrates the mystery of witchcraft.

The location excavated by the archaeological team was the result of extensive time analysis and measurement, and Ling Yu also contributed to it.

A deep pit has been dug out, revealing a corner of a stone building. Although it is rough, it has been polished and is obviously not naturally formed.

The archaeological team members were extremely excited.

Several archaeological graduate students participating in the internship also recorded every word of the archaeological experts in their notebooks, which is precious first-hand information.

Ling Yu set his sights on one of the girls with short shoulder-length hair, fair skin, and a petite but exquisite figure. Her face was not particularly beautiful, but she was very attractive, especially her focused look when doing things.

Very infatuated.

She is the girl Ling Yu likes, named Yao Jingya.

Ling Yu sighed in his heart, what a good girl, why did she choose the most difficult field of archeology?

"Xiaoyu, come down and take a look."

In the deep pit, an old man with a white beard shouted.

His name is Wang Wenwu, a well-known archaeological expert on shaman culture in the archaeological community, a senior professor in the Department of Archeology of Sichuan University, and Yao Jingya’s mentor.

Ling Yu jumped down from the pit, looked at the exposed stone building parts, and concluded that he and others were at the top of the Witch Temple. Obviously, his previous idea was correct.

After looking around in all directions, and based on his general understanding of the Shaman Temple, Ling Yu pointed to a corner and said: "If you dig in from this position, you should be able to get inside, but I'm afraid that the inside will be buried by the soil."

The architecture of the Stone Age is different from modern times. Especially the shaman temple, which communicates with the shaman god, has no doors or windows. It is just built with stones and can be entered from up, down, left, right and front.

To put it simply, it is just an altar to the shaman god, and then build an I-shaped foundation.

There are sarcophagus human tombs built on both sides, which are the locations for human blood sacrifices.

This is also the pictographic meaning of the word witch.

After another two days of work, the passage into the Witch Temple was finally opened. What made everyone happy was that there was still some space underneath.

On the morning of the third day, the archaeological team was well prepared to go down. They were fully prepared with flashlights, oxygen bottles, archaeological equipment, anti-insect drugs, etc.

There were seven people who went down this time. In addition to Professor Wang from archeology, two security personnel, and three archaeological graduate students, of course Ling Yu also went down.

The space inside is not large, it is bumpy and many places are buried under soil.

There are many things excavated here, and even some strange hieroglyphics and pictures were found. These are precious materials, and they were rubbed down one by one. Some places are inaccessible and can only be excavated slowly for fear of landslides.

, so the exploration progress is very slow.

On the third day, the archaeological team finally found a large blood sacrifice tomb.

It is said to be a human tomb. In fact, it can be described as a pit of hundreds of people. It is full of skeletons. On the sarcophagus of the human tomb, there are many ghost-like and strange characters carved on it, which are beyond the scope of hieroglyphs. Even Professor Wang cannot identify them.

"Xiaoyu, do you recognize what text this is?"

Wang Wenwu touched the texture on the sarcophagus and asked Ling Yu.

"I only know a small part of them. They should be wizard-specific incantations used to communicate with the witch-god. If such incantations are engraved on the sarcophagus, the witch-god can better accept sacrifices."

Ling Yu looked at it carefully and smiled.

While they were rubbing the incantations, Ling Yu, who was bored, looked around.

When he walked to a corner, a bump with a metallic luster caught his attention.

At that moment, he quickly started digging with a shovel.

The soil at this location was very soft, and he didn't dare to make much movement.

Soon, a face-sized mask made of unknown metal revealed most of it.

"Metal?"

Ling Yu frowned. How could there be metal in the shaman temple of the Stone Age?

At that moment, he quickly pulled off the mask and wiped off the dust on it.

This should be a witchcraft weapon on the altar. It is worn on the face by the wizard who presides over the sacrifice. What is highlighted on the surface is a pictographic witchcraft character. The two horizontal lines above and below the word "I" represent heaven and earth, and the two ends of the horizontal bar representing heaven are turned up.

Two sharp horns protruded.

Above the holes where the eyes are, there are two human-shaped eyebrows. There is a mouth in the middle of the horizontal line below that represents the ground. Inside the mask, between the eyebrows, there is a small protruding spike with a trace of blood on it.

It is estimated that when wizards in the past wore it on their faces, they would hit the center of their eyebrows.

Ling Yu understood the meaning of this sharp thorn, and it hit the center of the eyebrow to bring the wizard closer to the witch god. The witch god could see the wizard's piety.

Over time, a small hole will be left between the wizard's eyebrows and then decorated with jewelry such as gems.

Although this magic weapon looks very metallic, it is very rough, as if it was polished with very high purity bronze stone.

Ling Yu thought to himself that if this shamanic tool, which was similar to a bronze tool, had existed in the Stone Age, then the Bronze Age would have started thousands or tens of thousands of years earlier.

Generally speaking, witchcraft tools are polished from animal bones or stones.

Legend has it that this mask witchcraft can communicate with the witch god. Out of curiosity, Ling Yu put it on his face.

At this moment, clods of earth fell on the earth wall where the mask had just been dug out, and then with a bang, a large piece of earth collapsed. Ling Yu only had time to scream before he was buried alive.

The movement here alarmed everyone around the sarcophagus tomb. They ran over and found the place where the collapse occurred. Except for a small section exposed by the shovel, Ling Yu was nowhere to be seen. They still didn't know the reason. They were all shocked.

Eclipsed.

At that moment, several archaeological team members rushed to save people.

Saving people is like putting out fire. Over time, Ling Yu will definitely suffocate and die if buried in the soil.

"Ling Yu is buried in the soil. Hurry, rescue him quickly. Be careful, don't use a shovel, use your hands to dig..."

Wang Wenwu was jumping with anxiety. He admired Ling Yu's understanding of shaman culture very much, and had promised Ling Yu that as long as he switched to archeology, he would be guaranteed to be admitted to his graduate school.

However, Ling Yu is not interested in the boring profession of archeology. In his words, he does not see that the earth's environment is deteriorating and natural disasters continue. Without me, Ling Yu, who will save mankind!

But now the ambitious goal of saving mankind has not yet begun, and he is likely to die young.

Yao Jingya wanted to help, but there were too many people and she couldn't squeeze in. Instead, she got in the way and had to worry about it in the back. She still had a good impression of Ling Yu, a sunny and generous boy. As for whether she liked him or not, even she couldn't tell. Anyway,

Ling Yu walked around her without any objection. Over time, she really got used to the feeling of Ling Yu being around her.

Now that Ling Yu was buried alive, she also felt panicked.

Her parents are both archaeologists, so she has had a strong interest in archeology since she was a child. In these days, Ling Yu showed rich knowledge of witchcraft culture, which impressed her. She unconsciously felt that the two of them had become much closer, and

This finally understood Ling Yu’s original intention of joining the archaeological team.

Ten seconds, twenty seconds, thirty seconds...
