Chapter 351: On the Battle of Amiens

The military rations on the front line are still tight, let alone the supply of national food. By this time, people of all countries are already on the hunger line, and anti-war sentiment in various countries is rising. Undercurrents are surging under the seemingly peaceful ice of war. Perhaps a small crack can allow it to break through the ice and subdue the ice of war together with the governments on it.

The Yaman Empire took the lead in completing the troops' mobilization, and they soon launched a new offensive. On the front line in the Amiens, two hundred Eagle Strike Type 1 bombers carried out carpet bombing on the front line of the Nantes Empire under the escort of 180 Eagle Fighters.

Although the mobilization of troops has not been completed, the Nantes Empire responded quickly. A large number of fighter jets from the Nantes Air Force also took off to fight, fighting with the Yaman Empire's escort fighter jets, and a new large-scale air battle began again.

Although both sides suffered heavy losses in the planes, the Yaman Empire took advantage of the opportunity of its fighter jets entangling the other side and successfully bombed the Nantes Empire's positions. Seeing that there was an opportunity, the Yaman Empire's chariots covered the infantry and started the battlefield assault. Seeing that the other side launched an attack, the Nantes Empire was not willing to be outdone and pushed its armored troops to the battlefield.

The chariots of both sides fought desperately on the narrow frontal battlefield. The latest equipment of the two countries were the "jazz" chariots sold by the Chinese Empire. This is a seven-ton light chariot. Not only are the small models only two members, the maximum speed is only ten kilometers per hour, and the firepower is only one 37mm short-barrel cannon.

However, unlike the earliest purchased "Knight" over-top tracked chariot, it already has the basic shape of a modern chariot. It not only has better ability to climb hills across trenches, but also has a rotating turret and a 22 mm thick front armor, which is enough to withstand the attacks of all light weapons.

Despite this, these tanks suffered heavy losses under the heavy artillery cover of the two countries. In order to gain an advantage on the battlefield, the Yaman Empire soon drove out their domestic A7V tanks.

The a7v tank was designed and manufactured by the Yaman Empire. It uses the same crawler chassis as the Chinese Empire's tank. However, since the Yaman Empire's internal combustion engine is still in the development stage, this tank uses steam power, and a reduced version of the three-expanded steam engine provides it with 400 horsepower.

Due to the large steam engine, this chariot is eight meters long and three to five meters high, and looks square like a train car. Such a bulky design also makes it only nine kilometers per hour, and the off-road speed is only four kilometers per hour, and it also requires frequent coal and water addition.

The steam engine is stronger, which also gives Yaman designers more choices. Therefore, they equipped the front of the chariot with forty-mm armor. Such a bulky design is not without benefits, because there are naturally more weapons. The front of the chariot is a 57-mm cannon and two heavy machine guns, and there are three machine guns on each side.

The giant slowly drove onto the battlefield with heavy black smoke. Its huge size gave the Allied soldiers a great sense of oppression. The fifty-seven-mm cannon could easily tear the front armor of the "jazz" chariot, while the jazz's thirty-seven-mm cannon had no choice but to its forty-mm front armor.

The eight machine guns of the a7V chariot that broke into the position were fully opened, and the dense firepower covered everything from all directions, leaving the Nantes army unable to fight back. The Nantes Empire's army quickly retreated gorgeously.

The speed of the a7V chariot was too slow to pursue, so the Yaman Empire army had to abandon the a7V chariot troops and pursued forward with the surviving "jazz" chariots and infantry.

The Nantes Empire's army collapsed thousands of miles and retreated across the Liya River before barely stabilizing its position. In view of this situation, the Saar Empire decided to use a decisive action to restrain the advancement speed of the Yaman Empire's army.

At dusk a few days later, Cole Harbor had already ended its busy day, with a few fishing boats docking on the dock, and some elderly people and women were sorting out the harvest of the day.

Although Kohl Port is located near the important Amiens, it has not become an important port because the water depth is only about six meters and large cargo ships cannot be accessed. This is just one of the many fishing ports of the Nantes Empire. Now it is occupied by the Yaman army because of the retreat of the Nantes army.

A team of patrol soldiers from Yaman occupation forces walked past the Nantes fishermen who were sorting out their harvests. They did not pay any attention to these busy people. They had long been accustomed to the daily work of these fishermen.

In the past, Kohl Port was also a busy fishing port. Due to its close proximity to the large fish farm near the Sal Strait, there were more than 300 fishing boats at most. However, as the war progressed, it quickly became a frontline. In addition, a large number of young and middle-aged people enlisted in the army, resulting in a lack of labor. Now there are less than 100 fishing boats still going to sea at this port.

The Yaman army was relatively gentleman. Apart from the taxes that had to be paid, they did not persecute these surrendered Nantes. Therefore, although life here was poor, it was still acceptable.

An elderly fisherman straightened his waist with a little numbness. He raised the back of his hand, covered in fishy fish, wiped the beads of sweat that were about to flow into his eyes, and let out a long breath.

If it were peacetime, an old man like him had already rested at home, but the arrival of the war allowed all young and middle-aged people to join the army, and in order to survive, he had to return to his old career. After all, he was old and the elderly fishermen were no longer as strong as they were before. Now he would have to straighten up from time to time to rest and relieve his waist, which was no longer young.

Just as he was about to bend down and continue to sort out his harvest, the inadvertent glance at the corner of his eyes allowed him to see an amazing picture. Just on the horizon, a thick dark cloud obscured the sunset that had not yet completely fallen into the sea, as if it had darkened the light a little.

Soon many people noticed this, and they raised their heads one after another, looking at the strange and slowly moving dark cloud, even the Yaman army patrol stopped.

A long mast with the Saar Navy flag gradually exposed the horizon, followed by the second and third ones. At this time, experienced people had judged that it was not a dark cloud, but a thick smoke coming out of the chimneys of the huge fleet of steam engines.

"Enemy attack." The captain of the patrol team heard a shrill cry, and the entire dock became chaotic. A shrill scream sounded from far to near, and heavy naval artillery shells crossed a curved track and smashed straight onto the dock.

The huge explosion smashed the ground of the stone pier into a deep pit. The gravel splashed everywhere beat several fishermen who could not dodge to their heads and blood. The even more miserable people were blown away when the shells fell.

The dense shells kept falling down, covering the entire dock, but at this time the people on the dock had already escaped. In addition to blowing up several fishing boats docked on the berth into parts, these shells only destroyed the fishermen's harvest today.

The Yamann coastal artillery, which had received the alarm, quickly began to fight back, but this place was an area that had been occupied for a short time. The Yamann army had no time to build solid fortifications, and this place was not the focus of the Nantes Empire's defense, and the coastal artillery was built very simple.

Fortunately, in order to consolidate its flanks, after occupying this place, the Yaman Army still transferred a lot of heavy artillery, some of which even reached 254 mm in caliber, and their defense was still good.

But this time the Saar Empire was determined to attack the flanks of the Yaman Army. They even relied on their superior navy to mobilize more than five battleships. These big guys with the caliber of the main guns above 300 mm are not comparable to those of the Yaman Army's shore guns.

The artillery battle between the two sides took an hour, and the Yaman Army's shore defense fortifications were blown up, and the shore defense troops, which had suffered thousands of casualties, had to be defeated.

However, they were not without gains. A "Captain Hundred-Man" class battleship was hit by two 254mm shells because it was too close to each other and was seriously injured. Two old ironclad ships and three cruisers were sunk.

After destroying the other party's shore defense fortifications, the Hundred Than Saer Empire Army, who had been hiding on the freighter behind, began to use net ladders to get off the ship to the assault boat and row towards the shore.

After the Chinese Empire launched a landing war against Japan, all countries studied it. The Sar Empire quickly imitated the assault boats used by the Chinese Empire. Unfortunately, they did not have internal combustion engine technology, so they naturally could not equip the assault boats with small engines and propellers. Therefore, the assault boats of the Sar Empire could only be reduced to fishing boats that were paddled by hand.

The Saar army began to attack, and the entire sea was suddenly filled with assault boats. Unlike the rapid charge of the assault boats of the Chinese Empire, the Saar army was more like rowing dragon boats. The soldiers shouted trumpets and rowed desperately, trying to make themselves stay on the dangerous sea for a shorter time.

After the shore defense artillery was eliminated, the Yaman army did not block it again, which allowed the Saar army to land on the dock with its own weapons. After getting ashore, the Saar army quickly controlled the nearby area with its own weapons and protected more troops to land. Over the whole night, a hundred thousand Saar army boarded the land of Kohl Harbor.

The Saar army, which had stood firm, quickly advanced inland, but soon encountered fierce resistance. In order to avoid the attack of the opponent's large-caliber naval guns, the Yaman army set its position far away from the coast, and an army of more than 80,000 people arranged a long line of defense here.

"Attack, attack all." With the order of General Irving, the commander of the Saar Expeditionary Force, the Saar army opened the scattered line, bowed down, and carefully rushed towards the temporary defense line built by the Yaman army.
