Chapter 99 Divinity, Demonic Nature? Forgiveness?(1/2)

Ling Yaodong wore a county official hat with wings on both sides of his head, a green robe and cloud boots. A phantom of a city wall surrounding the water appeared behind him.

City God!

Lin Fengjiao, Chen You, the four-eyed Taoist Chen He, instantly, understood that Ling Yaodong became the city god!

The City God was the god of guarding the city at first, but later with the development of the city and the times, the authority of the City God continued to expand, and gradually evolved from the patron god to the "yin official" corresponding to the "yang official" sent by the human government, and was responsible for the affairs of all and large and small underworlds in this area.

When the three of them looked at Ling Yaodong's outfit, they all saw that Ling Yaodong was a county-level city god.

During the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Hongwu divided the city gods in the world into five levels.

The first class is the City God of Yingtianfu (now Nanjing, Jiangsu) in Kyoto is the "King of Mingling". It has the highest level, equivalent to the boss of the City God, and its name is the most famous - [Chengtian Jianguo Civil and promoted to the Fu Mingling King].

The second class is the provincial city god, called "Ducheng God", with five, namely "King", Kaifeng Prefecture, Linhao Prefecture, Taiping Prefecture, Hezhou, and Chuzhou.

The third class is the city gods of the "second rank of rank" and are called [Wiling Gong].

The fourth class is the city gods of each state of the "third rank" and are named [Lingyou Hou].

The fifth grade, the city gods of each county of the "Fourth Rank" are named [Xianyoubo].

There is no city god below the county and it is managed by the Land Lord.

Ling Yaodong, wearing a green robe, is now a Xianyoubo, [Xiangshan County Xianyoubo], the fourth rank.

In terms of the two choices of Land God and City God, he chose the path of City God.

Of course, the fourth grade of rank is just a grade given by the human world. Among the divine way, Xianyoubo City God is just a land god from the seventh grade.

Ling Yaodong is now a seventh-grade City God. Although he is only of the same level as the eighth-grade Land God, his status and strength are very different.

Like Tudigong, he is just a village chief and a village chief.

But the City God is at least a county magistrate, and he has even greater power.

In the way of God, faith is the source of strength, and authority is the foundation of strength.

After Ling Yaodong became the City God, his authority expanded. He not only still mastered the magical powers and magics of the Tudigong, but also mastered the magical powers and magics of the City God.

But that's not the point.

The point is, why did Ling Yaodong become the City God?

This made Lin Fengjiao, the four-minded Taoist Chen You, and the three brothers of Qianhe couldn't understand it.

The gods are so strict, and the ranks are just like official positions in the world. You can't just be whatever you want.

As we have already said before, there are two main ways to promote the gods of the gods of the Shinto gods.

First, the imperial court enthronement was humane.

For example, the Xingtang City God.

He was originally a seventh-rank city god, at the county level.

However, in the late Five Dynasties, the Emperor Taizu of Song Dynasty, Zhao Kuangyin, was the commander of the Three Army of the Later Zhou Dynasty, and stationed in Xingtang City God Temple to command troops to attack the Later Han Dynasty.

The City God who was moving to Tang often showed his powers and gave inspiration to Song Taizu's strategic deployment, blessing the troops he led to win one battle, quickly destroying the Later Han Dynasty and unifying the northern part of our country.

Later, Zhao Kuang became the emperor and always missed the help of Xingtang City God, so he sued for Xingtang City to build a grand temple, reshape the golden body, and promoted it to another level, and the black gauze hat was sealed as the wings of the sky, and the green robe was engraved as the big red robe.

This Tang City God was promoted from the seventh-rank city god to the sixth-rank city god, which is the so-called state city god.

This is the humanitarian imperial enthronement.

Of course, there are also people who spontaneous sacrifices, and the agreements become customs, and then recognized by the court.

The other is the enthronement of the Shinto Heavenly Court.

There are two main types of enthronement in the Shinto Heaven. One is that the gods do their job well, appreciate them, and are promoted to a god with a higher throne.

Among them, the one that is widely circulated among the people is [Water Ghost Ascends to the City God].

It is said that during the Yongle period, there was a ghost named Qiu Yunrui. He patrols the rivers and rivers for one day and visited the surrounding areas. When he met it, he told his own experience and said that he had been dead for two hundred years after falling into the water. He saw all the joys and sorrows of the world, and those who were in danger often rescued him.

When I saw that it had good thoughts when patrolling the rivers, I sealed its three bay rivers and ruled over the water monsters.

Qiu Yunrui accumulated merits, and later it saved a suicide woman.

This woman was also pitiful. She was originally sick and bedridden. She took the rooster and hen from her family to sell it. She was already poor, but she was given copper and silver and could not be used. So she wanted to seek death.

Qiu Yunrui gave the woman a wooden pole and asked her to hold on. When it was dawn, someone would save her and give her some silver.

Since then, Qiu Yun’s merits have been fulfilled.

Seeing that it had these three virtues, God was granted the title of the Great Immortal of the Island (although it was called the Great Immortal, it was actually an official position in the Shinto Water System), and was responsible for saving lives.

Later, the City God of Huizhou Prefecture was transferred to Tianfu, which made the City God empty, so he ordered it to take up his post.

In addition to this situation, there is another way, that is, Shinto will select meritorious people in the world, pass the test model to enter Shinto and become gods.

This kind of thing is also circulating in the world.

For example, take the City God exam!

According to legend, there was a student from Song Tao who was unable to afford to get sick one day. Suddenly, a minor official came to invite him, saying that he was going to take the exam.

Song Tao felt very strange. Before the imperial examination was reached, where would the exam be taken?

But the minor official urged him to set off on the road, and Song Tao had no choice but to come to a big city with serious illness and enter a royal palace.

There were many people sitting in the palace hall, and there were two tables under the eaves. In addition to Song Tao, there was also a scholar who came to take the exam.

Among so many people, Song Tao only had one impression of that, that is, a man with red face was sitting in the hall, who looked very much like Emperor Guan. Maybe at this time, he had already guessed that this place was no longer the world.

The test title is "One person and two people, one has heart but not one".

Song Tao did not dare to be negligent and finished writing the answer sheet in a scattered manner. The essence of it was - if you have the will to do good, you will not reward even if you have the will to do evil; if you have the will to do evil, you will not punish even if you have the evil.

The answer sheet was handed over to everyone in the hall on the spot, which attracted a lot of praise in the hall.

At this time, someone in the hall ordered: "Song Tao, you are good at this scroll. Henan still lacks a city god. You go and take office."

Song Tao was shocked and finally realized what this place was. He cried and said, "The gods are wrongly in love, I shouldn't have refused. But I still have seventy-year-old mothers in my family. Please allow me to support the elderly and then take office after they die."

This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! After he finished speaking, a man in the hall looked like an emperor and brought Song's mother's life book and knew that she had nine years of life. Therefore, Song Tao was given a nine-year leave and waited until his mother passed away, and then he would serve as the City God.

After Song Tao returned to Yang, he served his mother at home. Sure enough, his mother passed away in the ninth year. He himself died. He surrounded him with a group of city gods and officials and went to Henan to serve as the city god.

This is what Shinto selected people from the human way to enthrone them as gods.

However, Shinto was not a random god.

The first thing to consider is merit.

Only those with profound merits have this opportunity to be favored by the gods.

The Shinto also requires these people with profound merits to enter the Shinto and enhance the luck of the Shinto.

If people who lack merits, the mistakes they make and evils they make after entering Shinto will instead reduce the overall fortune of Shinto and drag down Shinto.

Therefore, Shinto has strict reviews in this regard.

This is how Song Tao and the scholar who took the exam were invited to take the exam.

The second thing Shinto needs to consider is whether the person matches the relevant clergy.

For example, Song Tao took the City God exam.

The City God has two main responsibilities.

One type is to protect people's livelihood, such as regulating rain, deworming insects and animals, warding diseases and eliminating disasters, etc.

Another type is to uphold justice, such as punishing bandits, governing corruption, protecting virtuous people, etc.

The supernatural powers needed to protect people's livelihood will naturally be given to the gods.

But if you preside over justice, the City God needs to have the ability to distinguish right from wrong, and at least master certain knowledge.

Song Tao and the scholar who took the exam were both scholars, so they met this condition and were invited to take the exam.

The above are two ways to promote the god's position.

But Ling Yaodong obviously did not have these two ways to be promoted to the throne!

First of all, the humanitarian court enthronement.

Ling Yaodong is now in power with the Qing court.

The other party destroyed and forbidden Ling Yaodong's temple belief.

Ling Yaodong was even more amazing. He took the risk of divine punishment and directly killed hundreds of Qing soldiers.

Neither side has room to turn around.

Even though Ling Yaodong is promoted to the county city god, he is already wrapped in the Qing court's dragon energy chain, which has only little impact on him.

It is impossible to enthrone the imperial court.

And the enthronement from Shinto is even more impossible.

Not to mention that the declining of the gods now, the gods on earth either sleep or fall, and have no extra power to enthrone and promote a new god.

Even in the era of prosperity of Shinto, it is impossible to be promoted to Ling Yaodong.
