Chapter 21 The Truth (Part 2)
The window was half open, and the wind was blowing He Xisi's hair back and forth. She quietly lowered her head and calculated the mathematical problems in her pen.
"He Xisi, come out for a moment."
To be honest, she was a little confused.
Maybe it's because of her last test score, she thought. But she made progress last time, so there's nothing to worry about.
Closing the pen cap, she walked out of the classroom and gently closed the door.
"Your dad...had a car accident..."
The teacher told her.
"You know, when I ran to the hospital, my dad was not even in the operating room because there was no way he could be saved."
He seemed to be crying, and her words were intermittent, mixed with tears. You had to listen carefully to hear what she said.
The tears that dripped down to the side of Zhuang Wenche's wound were still warm, so He Zhi wiped them away with trembling hands and continued to apply medicine.
The amount of effort she used alternated between strong and weak.
"My dad could only see with one eye at the time, and couldn't open the other eye. No part of his body was healthy... The doctor said he almost died at the scene of the car accident...
But he managed to survive the operation until I came..."
"My dad has long said that there is something wrong with the motorcycle. I even asked my dad for money to study materials. It was all because of me that my dad wanted to wait, wait, and wait before repairing the motorcycle, but...
....The result...the result is..."
This is the third time she has said this.
"I really wish that nothing happened, that I didn't ask my dad for money, that the car accident didn't happen... I really wish that I didn't know anything, that it was all a dream...
.”
Time passed by little by little, and it seemed that she couldn't catch it. She thought that if she let time go, everything would get better slowly, but deep down in her heart she was blaming herself all the time.
He Xiang tried so hard to package herself as if she didn't look like someone who had lost a loved one. She almost believed that it was all a dream, but the signature never appeared on the test paper again, and there were empty seats at the parents' meeting.
Walking into a bar to make money......
Everything reminded herself that she had no father, and that her father was killed by herself.
She always felt that she had killed the people closest to her and that she did not deserve to be loved, so Wei Bai's confession would be rejected without mercy by her. She seemed to no longer trust others, let alone herself.
He Si's body was trembling slightly, and the tears that had been held back burst out in an instant.
Zhuang Wenche endured the pain and moved forward, got closer to He Sisi, took off his clothes and wrapped them tightly around He Sisi, then touched He Sisi's head, "It's not your fault, you never thought that things would turn out this way.
What it looked like later.”
"I moved, moved out of residence, changed my job, and could only find this job..."
"Yes, I understand. I also know that you feel uncomfortable. If you want to cry, just cry. Don't be afraid, I'm here." Zhuang Wenche's voice was soft and his hands were gentle.
Just watching He Si quietly, letting her lie beside the bed and crying wildly, until He Si fell asleep.
The next morning, He seemed to be no longer sleepy at around five o'clock.
When she woke up, she was still lying next to the bed in the same position as last night. He seemed to have moved, and after lying down all night, her neck was particularly sore.
Zhuang Wenche hadn't woken up yet, so He Xiang got up and helped Zhuang Wenche pull the quilt, and covered it with his own clothes.
Everything in front of her seemed a bit unreal. When she thought about everything that happened last night, she still couldn't believe that she had told everything to the person lying on the bed now.
He Xi picked up Zhuang Wenche's school uniform from the bedside and walked slowly into the toilet, fearing that the louder sound would wake Zhuang Wenche. She carefully brushed away the blood with a small brush.
There was no heating washing machine or anything like that here, so she didn't dare to wash it all, otherwise Zhuang Wenche would probably have to wear wet school uniforms and walk into the campus.
I was afraid that Zhuang Wenche would catch a cold, so I rarely cooked a bowl of hot porridge for Zhuang Wenche.
"Drink it, don't catch a cold."
Zhuang Wenche looked at the bowl held by He Si, looked at He Si again, then looked down at his hand, and smiled: "My hand hurts."
He Si: "..."
Unable to stand Zhuang Wenche's nonsense, not to mention because of his injuries, He Xiang had no choice but to compromise and feed Zhuang Wenche porridge.
"Are there often gangsters like this there?"
"Occasionally, I used to hide in the dark with the curtain on the stage, but the boss took down the curtain when I was cleaning a few days ago. I thought it was too annoying."
"Are you not allowed to go there again?"
"So you didn't see me grabbing a handful of money and putting it in my pocket. I have to get some of this month's salary, otherwise I won't be able to eat. Why were you there yesterday?"
"You forgot to take your class fee when you left. I came to give it to you. I felt a little strange when I saw you like this, so I followed you."
"oh."
He seemed to say nothing more, looked at the finished porridge and prepared to get up.
"Hey, what are you doing? I still have some soup that I haven't finished yet?" Zhuang Wenche didn't move much and stretched his whole head forward, like a giraffe.
He Si looked down at the little bit of soup at the bottom of the bowl that was as big as a fingernail, and looked helplessly at Zhuang Wenche, "Do you like it that much?"
"Well...it's all hard work, and I didn't even eat last night."
"There's still more in the pot."
When preparing to go back to school, Zhuang Wenche suddenly remembered his business. The New Year's Day decorations he wanted to buy were still lying on the shelf!
"What should I do?" Zhuang Wenche looked at the alarm clock on the table that was about to reach seven o'clock, and tightened the list he had written in his hand.
"Are you afraid of being scolded?"
"Um?"
"There is a stationery store fifty meters away when you turn left. The school usually buys New Year's Day decorations there. However, it is not open at this point. We may need to physically wake up."
"This..." Zhuang Wenche hesitated for two seconds, "I'll fight you even if you don't do it, I'm thick-skinned."
The aunt in the stationery store was successfully awakened within two rounds. She opened the rolling shutter door and stared at the two people in front of her with her flowing hair and eyes that looked like enemies.
This time the two of them had a clear division of labor. When He Shi saw the rolling shutter door open, he rushed in without saying a word, picked up the list and started looking for it. Zhuang Wenche stopped his aunt outside, and even got scolded.
In the end, with the unremitting efforts of the two, everything was finally purchased.
Zhuang Wenche flipped through the plastic bag and limped along with He Si, who became a walking bookshelf.
"Don't your hands hurt? You can turn through plastic bags so easily now."
Zhuang Wenche tilted his head and smiled, pretending to get through, and then changed the subject, "What are you going to do next?"
"I don't know. Anyway, the holiday is not far away. Let's go find a job during the winter vacation."
"What job are you looking for?"
"I have no idea."
"My uncle has opened a new hot pot restaurant and is hiring people. Do you want to go and help? But it may be far away from here. I will be there during the winter vacation. You can bring your homework with you. There are not many people in the store and you can watch it for a while.
Books and stuff, but it might be a bit noisy.”
She lowered her head and said nothing.
Zhuang Wenche had helped her so much, and she didn't know whether to agree or not.
