Chapter seven hundred and nineteenth spy
Ranius, the "Oriental Beast" is Caesar's second envoy, and a killing machine created by the brutal war launched by the legion. The "envoy" usually means the highest-ranking general in the legion except Caesar. If Caesar himself is the supreme monarch, then the "envoy" is the marshal who upheld his will.
Before Ranieus, the first envoy of the Caesar's Legion was "Fire Man" Joshua Graham. However, when he led the Legion to attack the Hoover Dam, he was defeated by the NCR Rangers by strategy. Although he was Caesar's close friend, one of the founders of the Legion who had been following him since the Apocalypse Follower's Age, Joshua Graham still had to be punished by the cold-blooded rules of the Legion, he was covered in asphalt, ignited, and pushed down from the hillside of the canyon.
Since then, the name "Fire Man" has become a taboo word within the Legion, and Caesar prohibits anyone from mentioning that person in front of him. But even today, there are soldiers of the Legion whispering in private, saying that someone with a fire all over his body walked out of the canyon.
After the Fire Man, the second envoy was Caesar's gains in a battle of conquering the tribes. Ranius was a gifted and extremely tenacious bloodthirsty warrior who made many achievements in the battle against Caesar, but in the end he betrayed him because his tribe was afraid of Caesar. After suffering enough damage to death, Ranius struggled back from the border of hell. After waking up, Ranius was willing to kneel to Caesar, and he only asked for one return.
After one man killed all the surrenders of the birth tribe, Ranieus quickly became an important figure in the legion. When Caesar personally went to the Hoover Dam to seek the New Roman city of his dream, Ranieus, who was respectfully called the "Oriental Beast", led the army of the legion to fight around east of the Colorado River, winning every battle. Many tribes fled, and his name was also equivalent to death, demons, and destruction in many places.
"The arrival of this monster can only tell one thing, that is, the second Hoover Dam Battle is about to open soon." Su Jing walked past the chattering merchants with the girl's hand, and the two found a secluded environment to stay. Su Jing knew that he needed to use his mental skills frequently next, so he found a place to adjust his status. "But unexpectedly, the woman also came here. She also found the robot army under Zhuchengling Ridge. This is really bad news. I'm afraid the robots here have been upgraded by her with platinum chips."
"Not good!" the girl clapped her hands, "Will something happen in Vegas City?"
"You thought of this too." Su Jing pulled a mat, sat cross-legged on it, and placed her hands on her temples. "He would be in great trouble if the upgraded robot troops did not fall into the hands of Mr. House. If that woman... Eve, if she wanted to master this army, then Robert House with operational authority would be dead. She could replace House's center with the core module she took away before, and then obtain this armed robot troops with overwhelming strength in New Vegas."
"What should we do now?"
"As soon as possible," Su Jing Yitai breathed for a while. "If possible, go to the robot base below Zhuchengling to take a look. Even if we encounter any trouble, we should be able to get out of here."
After a while of rest, the two began to move towards the inner layer. The two who used real skills to break through the inner layer without any danger. As long as they use some tricks to divert their sight, they can avoid the guard's sight by simply moving at high speed.
The inner layer is the core of the Caesar's military camp, and this is the real camp. The two of them can see a slightly tight atmosphere. Some soldiers who looked like they were responsible for technology were grinding scimitars. Their feet were covered with rough iron and steel. I don't know which pre-war equipment were removed, and some could see some original shapes. The Caesar's army, which advocates courage and barbarity, pay more attention to the skills of close-range cold weapons fighting. Position warfare may not be as powerful as those of the NCR soldiers. However, their breakthrough power is very strong.
In the corner of the camp, you can see many yellow-faced slaves. Male slaves and female slaves were placed separately, and female slaves were relatively free. From time to time, women holding water jugs passed by the two of them. Shackles were locked on their feet. Some women were sorting herbs, cutting the herbs with tools, drying them, and then grinding them into powder. There was even a small circular arena in the center of the camp. When Su Jing passed by, he saw that there were dry blood stains on the ground and on the walls ten meters.
"Where can I find something to eat?" Su Jing looked at the sky. "It's almost noon, they should have lunch?"
"Over there." Gaiqi pointed to an open-air shed, "I think there seemed to be an open-air canteen over there."
It was indeed the canteen in the military camp. The two of them walked over from the side and could see several slaves tearing apart half of the two-headed cows, cutting off large pieces of meat with a knife, and then roasting them on the fire. Unpeeled corn piled up in a brazier, making crackling sounds from time to time. A small dirty basin was filled with turbid salt, while soldiers in groups of three or three were sitting at the simple dining table, waiting for their food. A few soldiers pinched silver coins and went to the counter to exchange wine with a female slave.
"From here, you can track the flow of materials."
Su Jing glanced twice and saw a pile of wooden boxes piled up behind the shed with canvas. He walked over and looked over for a while. When several slaves saw the leather armor on his body, they were afraid to approach him. These were empty boxes, and they couldn't get anything out anyway.
Su Jing touched the bottom of a box with his finger. The anti-impact straw was wet and a little glass residue. After smelling it, it was the smell of strong wine. It seemed that there was a small mistake during the transportation process. Perhaps a bottle of wine was not wrapped in the straw and was broken. He closed his eyes and began to pursue the smell of strong wine.
“The unloading place… is in the northwest.”
At two o'clock in the afternoon, Wapus Ikuta appeared at the place where the convoy was unloading. The spy chief was well-known for his elusive whereabouts. His footsteps penetrated the Mojave Desert. Even the walls and robot security forces of the New Vegas City could not resist the pervasive infiltration of Caesar's intelligence. The man wearing a fox scalp hat held an elite team, which was the most alert and cunning and loyal to Caesar selected from hundreds of thousands of people in the Legion. As the leader of the internal affairs department, he should not have appeared in this logistics department handover situation in person, but recently the storm of the Mojave Desert was about to come, and he had to retreat back to the east bank of the Colorado River to strengthen security at the military camp.
There was a report that made him a little upset. Inside the camp, someone saw a soldier appearing with a woman who looked... "weird and had a prosthetic hand". He could not remember every member of the camp, but he was very convinced that "prosthetic" was not very suitable for women in the legion. Due to the trend, women in the legion were different from "slaves", but the difference was not large. Disabled women were usually treated as female slaves, and they would not be "dressed well" as in the report.
Because of that Eve's affairs, he is now very sensitive to "female".
And the things in the back mountain...
Wapus Ikuta walked past a ox cart, opened the canvas used for sunshade, and the goods inside were neatly coded. The supply of the legion came from the output of the controlled area, and some canned food left before the war was a luxury that only senior officers could enjoy, while ordinary soldiers usually only had jerky, corn and other foods. He glanced at a rare thing and picked it up and took it up.
"Mre...the bagged military rations of the US team in the past."
This thing is rare. He looked at the old plastic packaging with interest for a while, and then put it back.
"Who is the team leader?"
After a while, a man with a pale complexion trotted over and kept swallowing.
"Don't be nervous." The spy chief comforted with a gentle tone like a snake, "I just want to ask a few questions."
Wopus Ikuta had seen too many people trembling in front of him, and many even knelt in front of him and kissed his boots, because they knew that the inconspicuous thin man in front of him had the power to decide their life and death with just one word.
"You said, you encountered the team of special envoys on the road."
"Yes...yes." The supervisor replied with a humble groan.
"Did he say anything?"
"No... Lord Ranieus requisitioned half of my convoy and let us continue on the road." The supervisor carefully checked the spy chief's face.
"Why did he come so slowly? Your convoy has arrived, and he has no sign yet?"
"I don't... don't know. Maybe it's because I heard about the assassination of Lord Caesar... Uh, no, I'm just guessing!"
Regardless of the embarrassing and smirking, the supervisor, Wapus Ikuta fell into his own thinking. It was normal for the troops of the Eastern Divine Beast to move faster than the transport convoy. However, the first envoy who had set records many times, his slow movement this time was indeed a very worthy of thinking about. Unlike other foolish soldiers who regarded Caesar as a demigod, Wapus Ikuta was also loyal to Caesar, but he treated his master as a great leader of mankind.
When the leader showed signs of decline and was about to die soon, even if he was loyal, Wopus Ikuta would still begin to consider his retreat. After Caesar's death, the division and collapse within the legion would occur. No one could see more clearly than this spy leader. If we consider the possibility of seizing military power... Wopus Ikuta was very clear about his weight and reputation. Caesar used him as a fox, and a fox could not lead a pack of wolves. Only a lion could lead these evil beasts of war.
Among all the lions in the legion, Ranius is undoubtedly the most powerful and has the sharpest minions.
However, this brutal and evil madman was not a good master. Wops Ikuta had to consider his life. Caesar had already gotten his temper. During the long time he served his master, the two had developed tacit understanding and trust. He did not feel that he could reach the same relationship with the irritable Eastern beast. Caesar not only had extraordinary military talents, but he was also a mature political leader. Ranius may have a reputation for winning every battle, but the thoughtful spy leader did not expect his performance in the political field.
If he had to choose a sufficiently good successor among the candidates, Wopus Ikuta might have chosen that woman.
It was incredible, but he could see the shadow of Caesar from her. It was not the old Caesar now, but the Caesar when she had nothing. When she tried to kill Caesar, the spy leader was at the scene. When the incident happened, he did not react at all. The moment she pulled out the sabre, he saw some noble dignity on the face that was looking forward to killing, the pride and ambition to change the world.
However, that is no longer possible.
But, not necessarily.
When he raised his head from his brief thoughts, he found a strange aura behind him. The guards around him were unaware of it.
"Don't move." A man said softly, "I have a .45 pistol, the muzzle is three centimeters away from the back of your head."
The spy leader calmly observed his guard, and the expressions of everyone around him were completely different. Then, perhaps the people behind him unknowingly bought one-third of his personal guards, either he used an invisible boy or similar equipment.
Wopus Ikuta sent a very hidden signal, and he believed that the people behind him could not feel the small action, but his personal bodyguard could quickly detect the abnormality.
Nothing happened.
"They can't see your movements, they believe everything is normal." The man slowly walked around from behind him. The spy chief saw the cold muzzle, and then the delicate face of the Asian race behind the muzzle. He noticed that the other party was wearing a set of leather armor of young soldiers in the army.
"Whose person are you? NCR Rangers? No, they can't cultivate something like you."
"You can treat me as a passerby." Su Jing waved his gun slightly, "and I have the power you don't know. Now, I need you to help me. I want to know where is the entrance to the underground base in your back mountain? How to enter?"
"You can shoot now." Wopus Ikuta pointed at his eyebrows, "or you just walk away and we're in peace."
"You will tell me." Su Jing was very sure of this. (To be continued.)
ps: I ran out to play with my friend for a day, and came back in the rain... I was still lost in the rain...
