004 sand table

A few hours after the fog started and before the break, Wang Qi returned to the eighth floor to carry out sand table layout and prefabrication.

A good memory is worse than a bad pen.

The text is obviously not as intuitive as the sandbox. The route of travel is planned on the sandbox, the places explored will also be marked, and the resources will be made into additional small models.

The sand table is located in the largest office on the side of the central corridor facing the courtyard. The vertical position is the same as the material room on the fourth floor. However, as an office, the door on the other side has been sealed during the renovation.

The tables and chairs that have not been consumed are piled in the corner, and the sand table is placed directly on the ground, using a scale of 1:200.

The initial plan was to make it 1:100. The buildings and streets would be larger and would be easier to use.

However, after a detailed investigation of this building, it was realized that more than one group of survivors had lived in this building. Except for some large tables and heating supplies, most of the combustible items had been burned.

Most of the wood that can be used to make sand tables and alternative materials with similar hardness need to be collected from other buildings, which is relatively scarce.

Take this building as an example.

The estimated height from the ground is 43.5 meters, including the small exit box of the stairwell on the rooftop, the total height is 46 meters. The length of the street is 38 meters, and it is 30 meters from north to south.

According to the 1:100 scale, even if you convert meters into centimeters, it is still quite a big thing, almost as big as a full-tower desktop chassis.

Obviously, a model of this size needs to be made of wooden boards and plastic boards. Thin wooden boards cannot be left as flammable ignition materials. There are many plastic boards in the original shopping mall on the first to third floors, but there are no

Considered a safe zone, it would be too dangerous to go there and spend a lot of time carrying plastic boards.

Moreover, the model is too big and cannot be explored very far, so it will not fit in a large office.

It doesn’t matter if it’s too small. Due to survival needs, the details on the street must be expressed as much as possible.

Finally, 1:200 was selected. At this scale, the street at the exit of the compound is barely three centimeters wide, and some small objects can be placed to represent the wreckage and garbage dumps.

Due to natural erosion, most buildings lack or cannot deploy safety mechanisms and are only used as collection and hunting points. There is no need for modeling. These are flat wooden blocks directly placed on the ground.

It's also due to black and white vision. If you draw the line directly, you won't be able to see it at night.

For the reptile monsters he observed at night, he would place irregular tetrahedrons or pentahedrons on the sand table to represent them. There was nothing particular about it, it was mainly a matter of craftsmanship.

Although it is estimated that the reptile monsters will retreat in the next day, it is not known how many scout bugs will be left behind.

The placement is based on mathematical principles.

By randomly distributing several bugs over a large area, he can ensure a 99% success rate in attracting only one to take action at a time.

The approximate range calculated based on this will serve as the danger zone for the next few days.

The danger zone is represented by toothpicks. Putting a dozen or so toothpicks together roughly represents a circle. For the sake of life safety, it will be 10% larger than the calculated area and serves as a warning line for action.

After the layout is completed, there is daily prefabrication work.

There are three main categories of modeling now.

The first type is a building with higher floors, which has been safely renovated by previous generations of survivors like this building.

There are many advantages to high floors. The smell and occasional light noise will not attract monster killers. In addition, the climbing ability of reptile monsters is limited. When entering the building, they may climb three or four floors before finding a window and jumping out.

Wang Qi therefore judged that if there are other survivors in this world, they are most likely in buildings whose structures have not been seriously damaged.

The second type of model is the fence.

Reptile monsters like to move along walls, and the height of the wall cannot prevent crawlers from jumping at all. Therefore, the uncollapsed masonry wall has become a very dangerous terrain, and it is necessary to model it separately.

The third category is streets.

Just like the elephant shrew needs to maintain prey and escape routes.

In the ruins of the steel jungle, the ultimate speed that humans can reach is undoubtedly on the streets.

Whether a street allows high-speed traffic is an important piece of information that has a greater bearing on life and death than the size of a building.

For example, some streets are blocked by the debris of a series of car accidents. Before on-site investigation is conducted, these are escape routes that need to be avoided.

Conditions are limited, and there are only three processing tools: saws, scissors, and nail clippers. Hunting knives made of substandard materials are reluctant to be used.

The saw was found in this building, and a box of saw blades was found in another suspected warehouse not far away. There was also a high-tech wire saw with several boxes of saw wire, which were important survival supplies and were placed in emergency packages in the safe house.

I can't bear to use it.

He was not a professional carpenter in his previous life, so the current situation was really difficult.

Fences, which are made of thin pieces of wood, are often sawed off, and plastic has to be burned to stick them together.

However, I don’t have a clear goal today. I am just making sandbox prefabrication, which is different from when I first started making sandboxes.

Prefabrication is mainly for parts that have not yet been explored.

He would make small wooden blocks in advance to represent various vehicle wrecks and garbage piles.

In addition, try to turn thick wooden boards into thin wooden boards in preparation for modeling other buildings. Due to technical issues, the success rate is very low, and the operation is relatively slow to avoid noise, but after a few hours, there will always be a few inferior pieces of the right size.

The boards, with perforations and partial breaks, are not a big problem in making models, they are stacked together.

After dawn, eat, clean yourself, and sleep.

After getting up at night, repeat what you did last night.

When the external light came on this night, I increased the [Cell Division Limit]. The current value is 32. If there were not thirty projects waiting, the 66% increase would be quite good.

It's nice to have plug-ins, but there isn't even a comment. I can only guess what it does based on the literal meaning.

[Cell division limit] The literal meaning can be interpreted in two directions.

First, keep the integrity of telomeres and increase the limit number of cell divisions, which is the longevity code that was very popular before he traveled over.

Secondly, it may be a mechanism that produces sounds only after being injured. For example, if a monster digs out half a kilogram of flesh from the stomach, if the value is low, it will be gone directly. If the value is high, it may give a chance to survive?

He didn't want to experiment with it specifically, but it just felt like it would be beneficial to survival. The original 3 points were on the low side, so he wanted to make up for his shortcomings.

Repeat for another day.

At night, without waiting for the plug-in to arrive, I ate the food, packed my bags and started to take action directly.

After the reptile leg meat was deshelled and dried for two days and one night, the surface was relatively dry, so I took one and put it in the material room on the fourth floor.

If you die outside, this will be considered a relic to your neighbors.

But the neighbor still didn't seem to come.

...won't he die too?

He scratched his head, closed the door and left.

The previously designated danger zone blocks the street from the entrance to the compound leading to the back.

The south seems to be the reptile's nest, so you can only go out from the west side of the compound and go northwest.

Looking at this direction from the observation point, most of it is blocked by another building in the compound. The situation is not familiar, but I did a survey and at least I have some understanding of the street conditions.
