Chapter 7 Wake Up

The next day, the two groups set off again from the place where they were stationed.

Because of Liu Luoying's illness, even though the third room felt uncomfortable, it still had to be able to live up to its face. Finally, she didn't let her and the maid and nanny squeeze together, but instead opened a carriage.

Liu Luoying naturally would not refuse anymore. After Yingying thanked her, she got on the carriage with Liu Qingqing.

She had just taken medicine this morning and fell asleep in the sedan chair without realizing it. When she woke up again, she was awakened by Yingchun's anxious screams.

"Miss, Miss, wake up!"

She opened her eyes and heard noisy shouts coming from outside the sedan chair.

The convoy had already stopped. When she opened the curtain, she saw that there were a large number of yellow-faced refugees coming from somewhere. They surrounded the road ahead with hoes and shovels in their hands, staring at them with keen eyes. It was clearly the carriages loaded with food and grass behind the convoy, and the servants in the mansion were about to resist.

Yingchun said anxiously: "Miss, these people are all refugees who have been affected by the disaster. Now they have become robbers. Mrs. Hou went to the front to find out the situation and told me to take good care of you, but I'm afraid it won't take long here. Miss, come and go with me and hide behind me!"

When Liu Luoying heard this, her heart suddenly rose. She didn't bother asking too much, and got out of the car in a hurry. Before she could walk a few steps, she turned around and saw the refugees rushing over!

"Miss, go quickly!"

Yingchun grabbed her hand and pulled her to hide behind the convoy.

Liu Luoying was worried about Liu Qingqing in her heart, and hurriedly said, "I'll go find my sister first. You go and notify the second aunt and the others, as well as other servants and nannies, let them scatter and hide in the mountains, and don't fight with them."

The bandits in the freezing era are also ordinary people affected by war. They just want to live with a meal and will not easily hurt people's lives.

Yingchun was still a little worried, but Liu Luoying pushed her, lifted her skirt and chased her forward.

Everything that was in sight was full of chaos, and the convoy had been completely dispersed. The Liu family and the Luo family were mixed together, and Liu Luoying tried hard to identify it, and finally saw Liu Qingqing's figure.

"Sister!"

She had just screamed, and before she could even part with the crowd, her arm was pulled hard by someone, and she stumbled into a cold arms.

Liu Luoying was startled and saw a flowing stone flying from somewhere, falling to where she had just stood.

She raised her head in shock, and the handsome face of the young man was caught in her eyes.

"Second cousin?"

She was slightly stunned, and suddenly remembered her sister again, and hurriedly chased after her.

But another wave of refugees rushed over and could no longer see Liu Qingqing's figure. The entire convoy was in complete chaos. Countless refugees rushed in and searched for the stored food and clothing. Some people even started to scream and roar in order to grab a bag of steamed buns.

Even if he had lived again, Liu Luoying was the first time she encountered such a scene. She was shaking slightly unconsciously. When Luo Ting pulled her, she often hid in the woods beside her.

The whistling wind echoed in her ears, and the only touch on her body seemed to be gathered on the wrist being pulled by Luo Ting, following her with one foot deep and one foot shallow. I don’t know how long she had run away, but Liu Luoying was so tired that she couldn’t even lift her legs. She suddenly tripped a dead branch under her feet, suddenly lost her center of gravity, and fell forward!

Liu Luoying exclaimed in surprise, but her waist was tightly held and she did not fall to the ground.

"Is it okay?" Luo Ting rang out with a cold voice.

She subconsciously shook her head, gasped for breath, and looked up at the boy. She had just run the same way, but Luo Ting looked much better than her unhurried look. Her breath was still stable, and she didn't even fluctuate the tone of speaking.

Liu Luoying recovered after a while. When the wind in the forest was blown, her clothes soaked in sweat were pressed against her body, bringing a biting coldness, which made her tremble.

Luo Ting let her go silently, pulled out a dagger from his waist, and quickly cut down many dead branches, piled up a small bonfire on the ground, and lit it with a fire breaker. The warmth brought by the fire dispelled a lot of chill.

Liu Luoying was worried about her separated sister and father, and she was worried. Luo Ting was not a talkative person, and she leaned silently against the tree on the side.

When she raised her eyes, she saw the boy playing with the dagger in his hand lazily. The blade when he pulled it out was as cold as snow. At a glance, he knew it was not an ordinary person.

She was stunned for a moment. After all, Luo Ting's status in the Luo family is obvious to all and unwelcome. Then this dagger...

Perhaps because she noticed her gaze, Luo Ting put away the knife casually.

The girl who was caught was a little embarrassed and asked without saying a word: "Second cousin, haven't thanked you for saving me just now. How did you find me?"

The boy replied lightly: "Just pass by."

This answer made Liu Luoying unable to find a word to answer for a while. She thought for a while and said, "You are standing so far, aren't it cold? Come to the fire."

Since the fire was set up, Luo Ting has been standing several steps away from her, without any intention of getting closer. His thin lips slightly opened, and there were two simple words: "No."

The atmosphere around became more intense and silent, and only the "crackling" sound of dead branches exploding in the fire was heard. As the sky darkened little by little, the jumping fire became more and more conspicuous.

Liu Luoying's clothes were almost dry, so Luo Ting turned off the fire and buried the burned dead branches: "Let's go."

It was dark in winter. Just now, Liu Luoying followed Luo Ting all the way, and had no time to pay attention to her feet on the side of the road. When she walked back, she realized how difficult it was to walk. She almost tripped her several times with the rocks and soil.

Fortunately, Luo Ting always walked in front of her. If he was not careful, he would reach out and hold her steadily, and wait until she stood firm before taking it back, which would prevent her from falling but not without losing her manners.

Liu Luoying followed Luo Ting like this. After finally walking out of the forest, she saw that the place where the convoy was already in chaos.

Several carriages were broken into pieces, and there were also a few scattered rioters who were still unwilling to find out something, but the members of the Liu family and the Luo family were no longer there.

She was panicked and was about to step forward when she was pulled.

Luo Ting frowned and looked around, saying, "No one should be injured if there is no blood. Not far from here is Nanling. They should have been avoiding Nanling City for the time being."

The Liu family's old house was not far from Nanling. Liu Luoying calmed down from her eagerness and knew that what he was right. Moreover, in this situation, even if she wanted to find her sister and father, she had to settle down first.

Luo Ting stopped a ox cart entering the city, Liu Luoying talked about her own situation on the side, and said some soft words.

The man who drove the ox cart was a honest man, and immediately asked them to take a ride with him enthusiastically. After arriving in Nanling, Liu Luoying thanked him warmly, stuffed a piece of silver and left with Luo Ting.

Nanling was originally a very prosperous area, with abundant resources and good weather, so the war was the first to beg for war. Now it seems that the streets are depressed, and there are refugees who are begging everywhere. You can see the bodies wrapped in a linen mat and thrown on the roadside by a few steps. It is not an exaggeration to say that the tragedy is everywhere.
