Chapter 19

Brest City is just a medium-sized city with more than 100,000 people. However, its location is so important that it is built here to build the strongest fortress on the Russian border, Brest Fortress.

The Brest Fortress was built in 1833. After many expansions and construction, it formed a huge fortification fortification. It consists of four independent islands divided by the Bouge River and the artificial canal. The central castle is located in the center of the entire fortification area. It is a circular closed type, 1.8 miles long and has a brick wall of 2 meters thick. The southwest of the central castle is the Terespoll Fortress, the south is the Warren Fortress, and the north is the Kobring Fortress as a barrier. Each fortress is surrounded by rivers, and the fortresses are connected by bridges.

Warren Fortress and Terespool Fortress are the main barriers of Brest Fortress, which are built on the bank of the Bug River, including many churches and monasteries from the Old Tsarist era. These buildings are an important part of the fortifications of the entire fortification. The Kobring Fortress in the north is the original old Brest city, with streets densely packed with many solid buildings made of early stones.

The most important fortifications of the fortress fortress were built in the central fortress. On the outside of the central island fortress, a ring-shaped battalion consisted of a solid barracks of about two kilometers. The walls of the battalion were two meters thick and contained about five hundred turrets, which could provide the necessary food and ammunition and medicine for 12,000 people. The walls of the battalion were covered with artillery firing outlets and rifle firing holes. In the center of the central fortress stand the St. Nicholas Cathedral designed by the famous architectural designer Gurimi. The church was built in 1856 and completed in 23 years. It was not only the tallest building in the central fortress, but also an extremely strong fire support point.

Now this fortress is surrounded by a large amount of combat supplies and replenishing troops, and it is a lively transit station.

The wounded soldiers from the front line were waiting to send equipment and ammunition to the front, the replenished soldiers and the infantry transferred from the rear, all of which were squeezed into this large fortress with a capacity of 12,000 people. Here, in order to prevent the Poles' counterattack, sufficient anti-aircraft guns and anti-aircraft machine guns were arranged. The air-to-air fire network formed can be said to provide enough air protection for the fortress.

Therefore, although the Soviet Red Army lost some of the already occupied areas of the city under the counterattack of the Poles, life is busy but safe here as the rear. In such a situation, negligence is quite common among the guardians of the newly formed Brest Fortress. In particular, one of the fortresses is the base of the "aircraft carrier", where there are more combat aircraft in addition to stronger air defense firepower.

This is what "Thunder International" and "Russian Royal Guards" need to overcome.

Ultra-low flight is not something that every pilot can do. If it weren't for the hazy time before dawn that could draw a silhouette of the tall mountains and tree crowns, then the fleet would probably have been swallowed up by these mountains and bushes when approaching the enemy's front.

Facing the gradually brighter sky in the north, the height of the aircraft group was lowered when approaching the enemy's front. In order to maintain the suddenness of the attack, the entire aircraft group no longer had any three-dimensional formations. If you look from the air, you will find that they lined up in a long dragon with almost exactly the same height.

Below the fleet is the wide river of the Buge River, like a mirror. In the light of dawn under its mapping, the figure of the fighter slides forward in the river.

This was another ingenious action by Manstein.

The river pointed the direction for the fleet, and the flash of the river water under the night also greatly reduced the risk of the fleet's flight. Such a flight is not a serious test for the excellent pilots in the first assault, at least the red Count Richthofen did not see this way.

The airflow on the river surface held the figure of "Flying Bird's Blade". The "Red Hunting Team" all rose and fell along with these airflows.

200 kilometers is not a strong challenge to the speed of 260 kilometers per hour of "Flying Bird". In less than an hour of flight, the strong Brest Fortress on the Bouge River is far away in the eyes of the pilots.

He successfully used a small trick to get rid of his brother's leader, the Red Earl Richthofen, at this time, broke the radio silence and began the final mobilization before the battle loudly on the plane.

"Brothers, who are we?"

From the headphones, the pilots' neat answers came.

"We are eagles, we dominate the sky!"

Listening to their answers, the Red Earl Richterhofen grinned with satisfaction, and then his pre-war mobilization with a unique taste.

"Who is our enemy?"

"Our enemies are respectable opponents, we must be careful to deal with them!"

“God said, how to survive in the sky?”

"Maintaining our speed, accurate shooting and caution are the virtues we have to stick to!"

After saying this prayer that I heard from some "Bible", the pilots even made a serious cross on their chests and ended their pre-war prayers with "Amen".

With the shouts of the Red Earl Richthofen, the fighter planes of the "Red Hunting Squad" quickly climbed up. As we know, as the aces for air control, they all used the real "Flying Blade", which is a strong difference from the foreign trade version of "Flying Blade" driven by other pilots.

As they climbed, the engines made a long roar in the early hours of time and space. The defensive alarm of Brest Fortress also made a long roar in time.

In the sky, more than 200 foreign trade versions of the first brigade belonging to "Thunder International" (with different fuselages, 4 12.7mm machine guns) rushed here while the darkness before dawn. In order to follow up the attack, they had to destroy the opponent's air and air defense forces.

It is obvious that under Brest's relatively large air defense firepower, they may suffer considerable losses!

As dawn gradually approaches, the war begins!

Faced with the tenacious resistance of the Polish army in Warsaw, the Soviet Red Army transferred almost every available combat aircraft to the field airport on the front line. This also reflects why the Chinese Federation originally intended to provide so many "saber" fighters to the Polish army on credit before the war. Perhaps another purpose was to make the Soviet Red Army have to put every combat aircraft in their hands into the air battle on the front line when facing air pressure.

The command of the Soviet Red Army did not arrange too much warning in this direction. In their hearts, facing the surrounding Polish army, this was their natural rear.

The Soviet Red Army, which had never fought against the "Chinese Federation" or "Thunder International", did not know that their opponents would often avoid their edge and attack targets directly to the key locations on their supply lines.

The current military strategists of all countries who have been baptized by World War II fully understand that war is no longer the first goal to destroy the other party's military machine. Modern warfare is first destroyed due to changes in depth, and countries with economic potential will lose the victory of the war. If this strategic theory is applied here, then attacking the other party's supply base and causing the other party to completely fall into a disadvantageous situation of lack of supply is the fundamental means to achieve tactical victory.

The Soviet Red Army soldiers who rushed into the battle were frightened to find out. Before the cannon suits on their anti-aircraft guns were even untied, more roars of aircraft engines had already been heard in the sky, and they began to dive down.

At the same time, the foreign trade version of "Flying Bird" attacking the airport also began to dive.

As the first attack wave, destroying the "saber" fighter jets on the airport that were planning to take off urgently in the air defense alarm was their most important task. Secondly, they were those air defense guns and air defense machine gun positions controlled by gunners who were nervous in the alarm and were trembling. Another task was to prevent the "tadpole aircraft" loaded on the "aircraft motherships" from causing trouble for their own ground forces in the ground attack operations behind.

Here, we can't help but ask, is it that Manstein trusts the combat capabilities of a squadron of the Thunder International Flying Team so much? Or is it that Cai E has been studying in the United States for a long time and has some inadequate grasp of the details of this battle? Otherwise, why would they prepare so much for the first attack wave and have almost no enough troops to complete the task?

We know that the air force of "Thunder International" is similar to that of the Chinese Federal Flight Team. They are all 6 aircraft and one squadron, and the 6/6 organization of the 6 Squadron. Since it is not difficult for us to calculate, the first gang of aircraft that carried out the first attack strike had only 216 aircraft. Can so many targets be destroyed by just this light firepower group using rockets and machine guns?
