Chapter 37 Summoning Log (New Edition)
Summoning Log Day 1:
Today I successfully conducted a summoning ceremony and summoned an alien creature called [Dwarf Goblin]. I named it Wednesday. This harmless and timid species does not seem to be of use, but undoubtedly this is an important step on my research path in summoning.
The summoning ceremony was extremely smooth and could be said to be without any twists and turns. This made me wonder whether the risks described by Medorian in the book existed, but this was just the beginning and we cannot draw conclusions in such a hasty way.
Summoning Log Day 2:
Today I decided to summon a dwarf goblin again. Since the harmlessness of this creature has been proven, it would be very wise to use it to collect more experimental data.
And it seems a bit difficult to get a short goblin to take care of such a large house. I am not a strict owner, so it may be a good idea to find a companion for it.
Unfortunately, the weather is very good today, the sun is shining, and the summoning ceremony cannot be held. When I came to the tree hole, I suddenly remembered this. This is not a mistake that should be made. Although it did not cause any losses, it still reminded me that in the study of summoning techniques, I cannot be rigorous and meticulous.
If you can't pay attention, you may make a more serious mistake next time, and I must realize this.
PS: On the way back, I accidentally shot a hare and killed her with one shot. It seems that my shooting skills are pretty good.
Summoning Log Day 3:
I went on strike today on Wednesday. Maybe it was because I arranged too many jobs for it. It was unwilling to speak, which was a headache, so I was not sure about the specific reason for its strike.
But for some reason, I think I can read it.
I gave it a half day off and let it rest in the yard, but it would only stare at the valley in the distance. At night, it started feeding the horses with fodder. It seemed that it had a very accurate grasp of time. Although I didn't know what the standard was, I decided to let it go for the time being.
I have thought about whether to teach it to cook, but considering my own safety issues, I decided not to do this for the time being.
Summoning Log Day 4:
It's still sunny today, and for the first time I found myself missing the weather forecast days so much.
I decided not to wait anymore. I don’t know when I will wait for the next cloudy day. I am going to change my target. After thinking about it again and again, I decided to summon a treasure thief goblin to play with it.
As mentioned in the book, if you catch the treasure thief goblin, you can ask the other party for a treasure as a ransom. If you are lucky, you might get a magic item. I spent the whole day in the basement today, install traps and check loopholes, and I am very confident about this summoning ceremony.
PS: Attached is a profile introduction to the treasure robber.
[Treasure Stealing Goblins are greedy and vicious creatures. They will steal everything that looks valuable, especially gold and silver products, gems, glassware, and even anything that shines.
They seem to have some mysterious perception and have a keen sense of smell for those cherished items (I paid a heavy price to draw this conclusion).
The treasure thief goblin carries a strange dimensional pocket and collects all property along the way. After sensing the danger, the treasure thief goblin will open a portal to leave. The destination of the portal is not clear. It may be a random place in the world or a special dimension where they live.
If you can successfully catch a treasure thief goblin, the other party will try to exchange its freedom with one of its collections. If you are lucky, you may be able to exchange for a magic item. Killing a treasure thief goblin may cause unpredictable consequences. I have never tried this.
Summoning conditions: The beloved item is made of gold and silver, placed in a dark and deep place, at a time when no one is watching.]
Summoning Log Day 5:
It is much harder to catch a treasure thief than I thought. The book only mentions that it has the ability to teleport, but does not mention that it is amazingly fast.
It stole my ruby ring, which was left to me by my cheap mom. I had almost no impression, but it still made me feel a little uncomfortable.
I'm going to add more traps to the basement, buy a few traps from the town, briquettes and Wednesdays should also come in handy to help me with good luck.
Summoning Log Day 6:
It's a hell, the arrest failed again and I lost my pocket watch.
The dog was not very useful. The treasure troupe played with it and made it trapped by the trap I set. On Wednesday, I almost gave it a stick.
I began to suspect that I had chosen the wrong target at the beginning, and maybe I should stop the loss in time and change to a summoning target. But now I am a little bit difficult. I am not the kind of person who silently admits failure and then chooses to give up, especially when I suffer a big loss.
Now there is one last thing that meets the bait standards - my professor badge, and I decided to make my last attempt, which is perhaps a typical gambler mentality.
If I fail again, I can only admit that I am unlucky.
On the verge of caution, I decided to do more preparations before taking action.
Summoning Log Day 7:
It was finally cloudy today, and I decided to summon more short goblins. If I had an army of short goblins, I should be able to help me do a lot of things. They are gentle and obedient and easy to feed. Most importantly, short goblins seem to know treasure robbers very well.
The summoning was very successful, at least at the beginning, and three short goblins were summoned in a row, but on the fourth time, I actually summoned a kobold.
I'm not sure if it's called this name, but it does look like it has some canine characteristics, with hairy bodies and wretched dog heads. Medorian is right, even the same summoning spell may summon different creatures.
The kork is as timid as a short goblin and has a deep hostility to humans. I had to shoot him while he ran away, and then I buried it under a spruce tree.
PS: Speculation and summary about abnormalities in summoning rituals.
There is no doubt that there should be a reason for the abnormality of the summoning ritual. I carefully studied the connection between summoning spells, dwarf goblins, and kowtowels.
This abnormality is likely due to the many similarities between the dwarf goblin and the koji. The two have similar body shapes, are both timid, and like to drill holes and hate the sun (maybe the koji also likes to eat acorn noodles? This cannot be verified yet.)
This discovery is very useful. If my speculation is correct, it means that even if the summoning ritual is wrong in the future, the summoned things will not be too much beyond imagination.
Summoning Log Day 8:
I was patrolling the woods today and found something very disgusting. The corpse of the dog-headed man was turned out, broken and chewed, leaving only a few bones, which were probably done by nearby beasts.
Speaking of which, since I moved here, I have never seen a particularly ferocious beast. Could it be a bear?
I was a little worried that the dwarf goblins would be taken away by wild animals, as described in the book.
Today I summoned three short goblins. Including the previous few, there were seven in total. I decided to stop summoning for the time being. Although it looks gentle, it is still easy to cause trouble if there are too many.
Seeing them lined up reminded me of seven dwarves, I decided not to use dates to name them, otherwise it would be easy to remember the mess.
It may be more convenient to use numbers directly, except on Wednesdays, it seems to be used to the name.
Summoning Log Day 9:
I didn't plan to summon it today, so I went to the town to buy some acorn noodles. These short goblins are really edible.
I met Ragner in the town and told him about bears. He said it was possible. Bears, wild boars and even tigers occasionally appeared in the valley. He suggested that I must remember to bring a gun when going out. Although I had considered this a long time ago, I still thanked him.
我回家的时候发现星期三被其它矮地精揍了,可能是因为名字的关系吧,我狠狠教训了揍它的那两只矮地精,作为同伴就是应该相亲相爱不是么?
Well, considering some of the things I have done before, I may be a bit hypocritical to think about it, but it was with me the longest time on Wednesday, which made me feel that it was a little different from it.
In order to prevent them from fighting again, I decided to name them in a week.
Summoning Log Day 10:
I summoned the treasure thief goblin again today, and it turns out that adequate preparation is the key to success.
Haha, it can be said that it was a great success. Seven short goblins surrounded it and almost beat it to death.
It redeems its life with a crown inlaid with gems. This thing must be very valuable. It can be sold at least 500 pounds in the jewelry store in the Sword Castle.
I suddenly thought of something. This crown is my first spoil. I love it very much. I wonder if it is considered a treasure?
Day 11 of the summoning:
There was another mistake. I wanted to summon the treasure thief goblin, but this time I summoned a big black mouse. I didn't see clearly what it was, maybe something like a magic groundhog. It snatched my badge and dug a hole in the floor, and then disappeared.
I don't know where it will go, and whether it will continue to steal my things. I hope not, so I will let the short goblins be careful.
The worst thing is that I lost the badge. I may not be able to summon the treasure thief goblin again. I hope that the crown will work.
PS: This summoning abnormality once again proves my previous speculation, describing similar creatures that may stumble into the ongoing summoning ritual.
There is no doubt that the big black mouse also has a similar habit to the treasure robber.
Perhaps some fine-tuning of the spell can solve this problem, such as adding a description like "the thief with his pocket" to the narrative.
I am not going to conduct this experiment for the time being, safety first.
Summoning Log Day 12:
Thankfully, this crown really works, fortunately, otherwise it would have been a waste of preparation.
The treasure thief goblin I caught this time was a poor man. The treasures I took out were almost garbage. However, if a genius came up with a wonderful idea, isn’t their dimensional pockets also treasures?
I asked it to exchange freedom with the dimensional pocket, but it refused. I tried to seize it forcibly, but it was useless. Only the owner could use the dimensional pocket.
The treasure troupe laughed at me, speechless, and was despised by a little garbage.
There was no way, so I had to start to be punished. I didn’t want to do such a thing, but I had to be more ruthless in order to reward me.
The screams of the treasure-stealing goblins made me feel tingling with my scalp, so I had to hand over this job to Wednesday.
It seems that the short goblins and treasure thieves must have some grudges, because they looked very happy when they tortured treasure thieves on Wednesday. This is the first time I saw the short goblins so excited.
Several short goblins took turns to fight. After screaming for twenty minutes, the treasure-stealing goblin finally surrendered. It handed me the dimensional pocket and told me how to use it.
It turns out that the dimensional pocket itself cannot store items. It is just a space entrance and can be used to bind storage utensils such as boxes and cabinets. I tied the coordinates of the dimensional pocket in the bedroom wardrobe. It really works. It will be much more convenient in the future.
It said something very vicious to me as it left, which made me a little uneasy.
I didn't kill it in anger, because I did snatch it, and because I remembered a description in the book of the Old Days.
[Once the contract with magical creatures is reached, there will always be a trace of restraint of fate in the dark. Once violated, it is likely to pay an unpredictable price...]
PS: I was not very satisfied with the original 37 and 38, so I rewritten it, but in order to prevent anyone from liked the original version, I put the old version in the work related to the work. If you want to watch it, you can go and watch it.
