Chapter 3 The Hole Conundrum(1/2)

The armored knight stopped in front of the vendor: "Another price? Is it difficult for people like you to make grooves and holes?"

Ke Li moved his eyes away from the knight's metal gloves filled with "electroplating" oil paint, and smiled lukewarmly:

"To be honest, the technical difficulty and material cost of setting holes for some special equipment may be more expensive than the gem itself."

"Different equipment has different costs, and the equipment itself may not be of high quality, which limits the upper limit on the number of holes."

The armored knight lifted up the movable eye shields and looked at Ke Li carefully with a pair of cobalt blue eyes.

There must be a man inside this tin can, but he is a little too cautious.

The armored knight put down the baffle, leaving only six little finger-length observation openings and ventilation openings, blocking his expression and demeanor:

"Suppose I want to create 6 enchanted gem sockets on my armor. What is the price?"

Ke Li stretched out his hand and took out pure white work gloves from his pocket: "I need to put them on the table first and take a look."

The identity of the knight in armor was unknown. He looked around and saw that no one dared to get too close, so he placed his armor on the table.

Ke Li touched the armor, released a weak magic wave, and checked the status of the armor parts:

"Made of white steel, large plates on the chest and back are forged and stacked, and three layers of armor are connected to block the weak areas of the waist and abdomen."

"Compared with conventional detachable armor, this armor has higher integrity. The hem and shoulder pads are made in advance to be semi-detachable."

"The armor part on the waist and abdomen is slightly retracted. It seems to be an improved style specially adapted to various movements of the two-handed sword."

"Due to the limitations of the white steel material and plate armor structural design, four mounting holes are usually used as a stable solution."

The armored knight crossed his arms and asked with interest: "What if I have to make 6 holes?"

Ke Li had a smile on his face, spread his fingers, put his fingers together in front of his waist, and slowly touched the clutch:

"Generally speaking, gem craftsmen do not recommend doing this. Excessive pressing performance will definitely shorten the service life of the armor."

"To put it in layman's terms, in any piece of equipment, a large number of mounting holes can be dug out to insert gemstones."

"Even if it's a tattered linen and cotton armor, it's not impossible to cut a dozen holes in it to hold gems."

"But as long as the magic power is activated, you will find that the violent magic runoff will conflict with each other and will quickly destroy this piece of equipment."

Ke Li's patient explanation attracted many guests to watch:

"Holding is not simply about poking a hole or making a dent in the armor. Even if the grooved hole is pre-designed, the magic power must be re-layed. Unless it is just a gemstone crown or the like, and there is no intention to activate the gemstone flower stand.

I can tell you briefly."

"Setting holes in equipment creates many different schools."

"The first one is the media drilling method. It is one of the most expensive drilling methods to hollow out the space media without affecting the aesthetics, durability, practicality, and original appearance of the equipment. Depending on the equipment, the requirements

It consumes a lot of rune materials and gem essence. Of course, the price will be outrageous. It is not an heirloom-level equipment, so it is generally not recommended."

"The second method is the magic punching method. The gem will appear in the middle part of the armor, usually on the belly or back. The location that does not affect the movement of the body is the best, but the caster is required to be mature in the material, structure, and design of the armor.

Every time a hole is drilled, the original structure will be changed, or the magic runoff will change the original density of the armor material, which may lead to a decrease in the durability of the equipment."

"The third method, the alchemical combination method, uses alchemical metal ablation reactions to combine gems and armor. The advantage is that as long as the material is strong enough, the performance impact can be minimized. The disadvantage is that the gems cannot be replaced, and the gems are forced to be replaced.

It will damage the equipment."

The armor knight nodded: "If I were a knight using a two-handed sword and needed 6 magic slots, what would you do?"

Ke Li took off his gloves, dipped his index finger in water, and drew six circles on the armor. His eyes only exchanged between the armor and the knight:

"In extreme cases, there are 2 rows of 2 holes in the middle, and one hole each in the rib convex area and navel area to form a magic runoff balance."

"The middle part is a balanced defensive enchanted gem. The upper and lower parts are distinguished according to the habit of raising the hand to block with the sword or holding the sword to the abdomen with both hands."

"Of course, this white steel armor... To be honest, the strength of the material is limited, and the durability of the 6-hole failed equipment will be permanently damaged by more than half."

"Taking into account the issues of putting on and taking off the equipment, repair and maintenance, and aesthetic performance, I personally recommend four holes."

"On this side, from the edge of the chest muscle to the edge of the ribs, a distance of about a palm is used as a safe drilling line."

"It doesn't affect wearing velvet or fur lining, and it won't touch the body abruptly. It can be worn normally with shoulder straps or badge hangings."

The knight in armor nodded continuously, and it was hard to tell whether his tone was good or bad: "It seems you know what you are doing."

"If I cover all the gems and ask you to help drill 6 holes, how much durability are you sure will be left?"

Ke Li turned the armor over and confirmed that it was a new item: "What is the durability of the armor?"

The armored knight touched the metal chin without thinking: "500 points, I usually use that set of durability testing standards here."

Ke Li thought for a while, then drew with his fingers on various areas of the armor, tapping lightly from time to time to confirm the status of the armor:

"At around 400 points, the magic runoff from 6 holes is very extreme."

"Each time drilling will cause the overall material to change. Because of the problem of the base material, the success rate is up to 40%."

The armored knight immediately got excited and slapped the table. The gems on the table took off and fell back:

"What, the durability is more than half. Do you guarantee a success rate of 40%? Are you serious!"

Ke Li glanced at the knight in armor again and thought to himself, I went to the north to study art and lived as a savage for five years in vain. Isn't this sure?

After a second thought, he decided to eat the fat sheep: "Once the operation fails, the armor pieces will explode directly."

"If you want to stably drill holes, you need to use gemstone essence as a hole-setting dye. If you want to freely change gemstones, you need to wash the color a second time."

"In short, it is impossible to estimate whether the drilling process will go smoothly. The overall price is not cheap. Why don't you consider the 4 holes I mentioned?"

The armor knight nodded continuously: "No problem, just do it. There are several pieces of this armor. Just succeed in one."

It seems that this guy is very rich. He can actually make several sets of this thick steel armor and use it as consumables.

Ke Li looked at the other party, waiting for the other party to agree to his conditions:

"Originally, I just came here to set up a stall to sell gems, and I was not prepared for setting holes."

"If you really want to make holes, you have to find a place. This small table is not as stable as a forging table."

The knight in armor picked up the armor excitedly: "Okay, come with me, the things I have there should be enough for you."

"Then I'll close the stall." Ke Li rolled up the bedding, opened the buckle of the table, quickly folded it and packed it into his backpack.

Follow the armored knight all the way to the Blue Eagle Knight Workshop in Mammoth Horn.

Seeing the armored knight entering the door, the three bearded old men put down their hammers one after another.

The three of them were a bit miserable, their beards were all blackened by the blast. It looked like they had to endure a lot of hardships to drill 6 holes for the knight in armor.

However, the workshop equipment also made Ke Li's eyes shine.

The knight in armor had no desire to take off his armor. He just stood aside with his arms folded and watched Ke Li operate:

"As long as you can succeed, you can use the materials here as you like, but you'd better tell me before you use them. My people will take note of it and tell the cashier."

"Leave it to me to handle it." Ke Li opened his backpack and took out multiple leather bags, which contained gem essences of different colors.

I picked up a brand new tool and tried it out. It was indeed much easier to use than my own tattered tools.

"Here we go, please don't let anyone disturb me."

Casting spells through gem essence dust actually requires very little magic power and is much easier to cast, but it only costs more money.

Wear gloves, lightly dot and ablate, and then dot the alchemy reagent solution into just a little bit of the gem powder.

There are four greens in the middle, yellow above and red below.

The magic power was activated to ignite the gem powder, and the armor shook slightly, but was firmly fixed in place by the lathe and plywood.

The first hole is yellow, and the light yellow magic runoff gathers into a line and is directed to other gem-set hole areas.

The second hole is red, crimson gemstone powder, which absorbs the light yellow magic power when burning, splits and expands upward.

At this time, Ke Li lit a fire with both hands and manipulated the magic power to avoid the structural attraction curve of the armor.

In the last two holes, Ke Li seemed to have made a mistake, and the vibration of the armor instantly intensified.

Because he can only guide two nodes at most at the same time, the red magic runoff that originally spread spread around the armor's surface.

"Bah!"

The pure white gloves were burnt black by the wrong magic runoff short-circuit in the blink of an eye, leaving light color marks on the armor.

Ke Li quickly increased the dosage of gem essence and guided the separated red magic runoff to move regularly on the armor.

The knight in armor saw it and hid behind the pillar decisively.

It only costs money if it blows up to someone, but if it blows up the armor and turns it into purple and purple pieces, then you won't be able to wear it out!

As everyone knows, as a jeweler, Ke Li is actually quite comfortable with this technique.

He just added a few variables to prevent customers from finding it too easy and not wanting to pay for the hole drilling, so they would have to haggle over the price when the time comes.

Under Ke Li's guidance, the white steel armor was no longer the original pure white, but seemed to be coated with a layer of armor oil with a faint blush.

After the red magic is guided, the green holes weave and seal each other, making it difficult to operate accurately like the reaction force of a magnet.

The Gemstone Man gave him extraordinary properties, which allowed him to sense and relieve this reaction force.

The three colors intersect and weave, and in the violent energy vibration, the armor shines.
