Chapter 43 Air Strike(1/2)

After nightfall, the spies sent by Roger to lurk on the coast brought back news of the Egyptian fleet.

"Sir, the Egyptian fleet, patrolling the nearby sea during the day.

“They move non-stop, never stay somewhere, and are not close to the shore.

“Even the piers built temporarily behind the Egyptian camps, they do not stop.

"The supply and fresh water in the city are transported by the Ashkilent Pirates fleet to the temporary dock behind the Egyptian camp.

"After night, the Egyptian fleet and the pirate fleet were moored in the port of Ashkiron.

"That location is protected by the city walls and we cannot get close to observe."

Roger nodded, he thought, according to the spies, the Egyptians obviously learned to be good.

The Tirs's own action of destroying the Egyptian main fleet with the "conscienceless cannon" was clearly seen by the Tirs and it was impossible to keep it secret. I believe the Egyptians already knew it.

That's why their fleet is so cautious, in order not to get close to the shore, or even participate in the transportation of supplies and freshwater.

They only put the smaller Ashkillen Pirates fleet in charge of transportation.

In this way, even if you encounter ambush from Christians, the losses will not be too great.

But the load capacity of the pirate fleet was impossible to quickly transfer the mountain of supplies in Ashkiron to the Egyptian camp.

Roger estimated the daily consumption of the Egyptian army. He thought that the transportation volume of the pirate fleet could only barely support this consumption.

He thought, so now the Egyptian army is like eating a buffet, and it doesn’t matter if you want to get more.

However, there is no need for the Egyptians to take more. As long as the sea route is controlled by them, they will not have to worry about supply issues.

Moreover, it is safer to place supplies in the city than to put them in the wild and can be better preserved.

Roger knew that since King Baldwin defeated and retreated to the trench position outside Ashkillen, he had used his tactic of cutting off the enemy's supplies and used it as his creativity.

Baldwin sent spies to enter Ashkillen City and burn down the mountains of supplies that could be seen outside the city.

However, all the spies sent by Baldwin were discovered, arrested and executed.

The bodies hanging on the walls told everyone how closely the Ashkelens guarded the supplies.

But this kind of guard is not airtight for Roger.

He thought that the Ashkelens must not know that there was another direction to attack, besides the southeast, southwest and north, their supplies piled up like mountains on the central square of the city.

Roger walked out of the tent and saw Shana organizing people to remove the new equipment, the hot air balloon, from the carriage, and start assembly.

These hot air balloons came in handy in the battle to conquer Karak Castle and save Adelaide.

Without them, Roger could not send his specially trained troops into the castle.

If Roger could not conquer one step first and defend the main fort that was imprisoned by Adelaide, he would never dare to launch an attack.

Now, Roger brought these hot air balloons to Ashkeen, and he was going to use them to give the pagans a "surprise".

Roger checked the assembled hot air balloons and found that Shana and the others were doing well.

He told Shana, "I decided to launch an attack early tomorrow morning.

“At that time, the sun had just come out and the light was enough to see the target on the ground.

"And the ground has not been hot yet, this is the best time to drive a hot air balloon to take off."

Shana asked in confusion: "We have all flew into the sky. Is the ground hot and what does it have to do with the hot air balloon?"

Roger thought about it and felt that it would be too troublesome to explain the air convection to the people of this era.

He pretended to be stern and said, "You just do it, what are you asking more questions?

"I'll ask Henk to replace you."

Henk said happily on the side: "It's better to change me. I never ask about things I don't understand."

Shana stuck out her tongue at Henk and said, "You are too heavy. If you change to you, you will have to bring a few cans of tincture oil."

It was also out of this consideration that Roger chose Shana and several other female soldiers to control the hot air balloon in tomorrow's action.

He explained a few more precautions and turned back into the tent.

The next day, early morning.

Five hot air balloons slowly lifted up and slowly drifted towards Ashkirun.

On one of the hot air balloons, a huge oriental dragon was painted.

That was the hot air balloon controlled by Shana.

The dragon was not painted by Roger, but by Shana.

Since Shana was rescued by the Chinese, she has liked the Dragon of the East very much. She even drank too much at the banquet again. She even joked that she wanted to marry the Dragon of the East.

Roger, standing on the top of the mountain, shook his head and cleared his messy thoughts.

He thought that judging from the situation on the battlefield yesterday, Christians might not be able to hold on for a few days without their own help.

Those comrades who fought side by side with them, as well as the nobles who had friendship with them, would die on the battlefield.

He did not want to see such a situation, nor did he want Jerusalem to live his life with the stigma of "desergeant" after being occupied by the Egyptians.

But I really don't want to help King Baldwin.

However, Baldwin, as the king of Jerusalem, is bound to the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

To save Jerusalem yourself and help friends is to help Baldwin.

Roger sighed, thinking, life is not satisfactory, forget it, that bastard is cheap.

Five hot air balloons floated over Ashkillen City, and they threw pots of crocks with flames.

The clay pot is filled with fuel extracted from Zarro.

Crock pots hit the mountain of supplies one by one, bursting and bursting, raising balls of flames.

Roger heard the female soldier who was throwing the clay pot yelling in his sensitive ears:

"This is God's punishment for you! This is the brimstone fire from Sodom!"

The entire city of Ashkillen was alarmed, and countless screams and cries broke out there, all of which were filled with fear and panic.

Roger saw someone pouring water on the flame, but the flame was not extinguished, but spread along the water flow.

The mountain-like supplies were ignited. Although the fire was just the beginning, Roger knew that people of this era would definitely not be able to extinguish it.

Roger didn't care about the outcome of the battle, this was exactly what he expected.

He looked at the five hot air balloons worriedly.

Yesterday he repeatedly emphasized that after throwing the clay pot, you must leave the air above the supply pile and stay as far away as possible.

The wind today is very good, I am afraid that the raging fire will change the convection of the air, which may cause the fall of the hot air balloon.

Fortunately, the female soldiers, including Shana, all abide by Roger's orders.

Roger saw that they adjusted the height of the hot air balloon without any hesitation, and floated over the Ashkeelen Harbor under the push of the wind.

Then another round of air strikes burning the clay pots.

The boats in the port were crowded together, throwing their anchors and not lifting sails. For a moment, they couldn't move even if they wanted to.

The burning clay pot ignited the sailboat, and flames that could not be extinguished by the water flowed on the deck, igniting all the combustibles.

The sailors jumped into the sea in panic, and even on the unlit boat, some people cried, "Devil! The Devil is in the sky!".

The hot air balloon did not stop, it adjusted its height again and found the right wind direction.

Then, five hot air balloons floated outside Ashkiron, and the alarmed Christians floated through two trenches and came over the Egyptian army.

Several burning clay pots were thrown down and several fires formed on the sand.

The results of this battle are very limited.

But the hot air balloon of the Oriental Dragon controlled by Shana was lucky enough to float over the large and luxurious tent of the Egyptian Caliph.

The burning pot it cast ignited the tent.

Roger, who looked at him from a distance, didn't think it would be so coincidental that he would kill or burn the enemy's leader.

But King Baldwin shouted first: "The Caliph is dead! The Caliph is dead!"

He shouted and rushed towards the enemy.

His personal guards sounded the trumpet of the entire army's assault.

Some of the Christian warriors followed Baldwin to charge; others knelt on the ground and prayed.

Patriarch Anurf shouted: "Miracle! This is a miracle!"

He asked the priests to charge with the "true cross".

So more Christians joined the charge.

There is no queue or order, and the chargers are like a group of wild boars, just moving forward in a mess.

They stepped through the trench that had been filled with corpses and crashed into the Egyptians' even more panicked camp.
