Chapter 69 Extra Story: The Adventures of Teenagers 22 Fate
Roger didn't understand why Danny appeared here. He didn't think so much, he was just happy.
He praised the goddess of fate in his heart and thanked her for the good luck.
He wanted to say hello to Danny, but all he heard was a "scared" neigh, as if he was panting.
He wanted to raise his hand in greeting, but he didn't have the strength to move.
Danny didn't seem to notice him, or maybe he saw him but didn't recognize him.
Roger knew that he was ragged and dirty and looked like a dying tramp.
He could understand why Danny wasn't paying attention to him. And Danny seemed busy.
"Listen, if you dare to lie to me, I will hang you, just like the one in town."
Danny was riding a horse, holding a rope in his hand, and a bandit on foot was tied to the other end of the rope, like a dog.
The bandit flattered him: "Master, I would never lie to you. The young man riding the bay-red horse said he was a big shot, and he even saved my life. I saw him fall into the trap of Boss Aulus with my own eyes." The sword in my hand is indeed from his hand."
Roger noticed that Danny had two swords in his waist, one of which was clearly his "mosquito bite".
"If you want to survive, lead the way." Danny threatened the bandit.
Danny turned back and ordered the guards: "Speed up and wait until you reach the bandits' stronghold. Remember, you must not hurt their prisoners."
Roger saw Mu Tieyi again, sitting on a richly decorated caravan in the middle of the team.
None of these people cared about the homeless man who looked half-dead under the tree on the roadside.
This group of people just ran past Roger's eyes.
Roger just watched them pass by, getting further and further away from him.
In his heart, the goddess of fate, Tyche, left with a satisfied smile as she succeeded in her mischief.
The guards relaxed the control at the town gate.
Someone came out on horseback, and Roger realized that he had seen him again, but he was not familiar with him. The man was chasing Danny's team in a sneaky way.
Roger remembered that when Amila asked about his origin that day, this man was following Assad.
He thought, so this person is Princess Amyra's subordinate, what do they want to do with him following Danny?
Roger's fever seemed to have gone down a bit, and his brain had regained some of its flexibility.
At this time he saw Aura walking out of the town gate, staggering and looking like she had lost her soul.
Aura walked slowly to Roger, slowly knelt down, threw herself into Roger's arms, and burst into tears.
"They hanged Uncle Hound."
Roger has never seen Ola cry since he met her. He always thought she was a strong woman.
He listened to Aura sobbing: "Uncle Hound must have come to find me. I killed him..."
He listened to her cry: "It's all my fault...I shouldn't have come...Uncle Hunting Dog must have come after me..."
They finally entered the town and entered through the door. This time the guard did not stop them.
Roger knew that the big shot was gone. He thought, so to speak, that big shot was himself, or another version of himself.
Roger didn't know exactly what Danny and Mutie Yi did, but it was obvious that they made others think that their team was protecting the newly promoted Earl Roger.
Aura took Roger into the inn. The inn lady received them warmly and gave them a room without asking for money at all.
Roger was finally able to have a good sleep. He had not had a good rest since he came out of the palace.
He knew that the reason why he got sick this time was mainly because he didn't get enough rest and his resistance was reduced.
He has been running around in the wild during this time, and things are happening one after another. If he doesn't pay attention, he will lose his life. His spirit has been tense.
Now, he felt safe. He finally got rid of those assassins and bandits, and he could finally sleep peacefully.
By morning, Roger was sweating and his fever had gone down.
Roger felt much better. His hands and feet were still soft, and the pain in his body had not completely gone away, but he knew he had gotten over it.
Aura brought him a bowl of hot porridge, which he ate deliciously and felt very comfortable.
He looked at Ola's flushed face and said, "I feel much better, thank you."
He watched Aura smile with relief, watched her breathe a sigh of relief, and watched her slowly collapse in front of him.
He hurried to help her and touched her forehead, which was frighteningly hot.
Roger didn't know when Aura started to have a fever. Maybe she had symptoms a few days ago.
He blamed himself very much. He had never paid attention to her. He only thought about himself. He had no idea that the girl in front of him was supported by his breath.
He thought, now it's my turn to take care of you.
Roger was not very good at taking care of others. Fortunately, the inn aunt took good care of them. She was so busy that she took over almost all the tasks of taking care of Aura, and even left the inn work aside.
This made Roger very sad.
The only owners of the inn are the owner and his aunt, both of whom are quite old.
So the boss was too busy to work alone, so he talked to the aunt with a complaining look.
Mom put her hands on her hips and yelled, and the boss shrank back dejectedly.
Roger sometimes couldn't understand what they were saying, but he could tell it was Greek.
The couple spoke Latin when they talked to him, but they kept speaking Greek when they communicated, maybe mixed with some dialects and slang, but he couldn't understand it anyway.
Roger knew that many people in Sicily spoke Greek, and many of his men also spoke Greek better than Latin.
Roger had not decided whether to wait for Danny to return or go to Palermo along the road himself, but now he was determined and he was not in a hurry to make a decision.
So Roger took the initiative to ask his boss for help. He and Ola were penniless, but the aunt took care of them like this. He was really embarrassed and couldn't help at all.
And he feels that his body is recovering, and moving around may be more beneficial to his health.
Roger also wanted to go to the mayor and declare his family status, but he didn't really look like a noble now.
The mayor had just sent away Count "Roger" who was escorted by a large team of people. It would be a good thing for him to get together like this and be kicked out.
He remembered that his father had handled the case of a mud-legged man pretending to be an attendant. At that time, his father did not even go to see the mud-legged man. He did not listen to his defense and directly ordered him to be hanged.
Roger looked at the gallows in the central square of the town outside the inn. There was a lone corpse hanging there. It was a man wearing Persian trousers with ties tied around his ankles.
Roger didn't want to end up like that, he didn't want to go up and accompany that man at all.
Roger lamented that with what the "Hound Dog" had done, even being hanged 10 times would not be an exaggeration.
But now "Hound Dog" is hanged, not because of his crime, but because he brought Roger's sword because he was unwilling to betray his brother.
"Hound Dog" died innocently, even a bit like a positive character.
What an irony, Roger thought.
Ola's illness is improving.
A large caravan came to the town. The pack horses crowded the stables of the inn, and all the rooms were occupied, but Auntie did not let Roger and the others leave the room.
Roger was very grateful to his aunt for her kindness. He ran back and forth to help take care of the guests, like a professional boy.
None of the guests realized that they were being served by the most senior person on the island.
Roger heard that most of these people spoke Greek, but they could also speak Latin, so he chatted with them and wanted to know what happened in Sicily recently.
But these people knew nothing about what was going on on the island.
Roger learned from their mouths that they came across the sea from Greece.
These people are very talkative. They seem to know all the gossip about Constantinople, the private affairs of noble families, and the secrets of palace ladies. They spit at the mouth and talk as if they have seen it with their own eyes.
But when Roger casually asked about their business, these people talked to him indifferently, as if they were not businessmen, but just tourists.
Ola recovered quickly under the careful care of her aunt. She is getting better day by day.
