Chapter 78 Extra Story: The Adventures of Teenagers 31 Faith
White water vapor and yellow smoke emerge from the cracks as always, and the colorful lake water remains as unpredictable as ever.
Roger and his new friend Christo Dulles, away from the mining slaves, sat by the lake and watched the scene.
Dulles said: "I have been thinking about escaping from the first day I came in, but I still haven't found a way. I can't stand it anymore and I'm going crazy."
Roger stayed here long enough for God to re-create a world. He didn't know how long he could survive in this soup pot.
He said: "Those who can't escape are too tightly guarded."
"How will you know if you don't try? Do you want to stay here all your life? You are not expecting Heller to let you out, right? What did he say when you came in?"
"He said it was a job that included food and accommodation."
"Haha, do you believe it? Let me tell you, you'd better not believe a word of Heller's lies. He will never let you out."
"But you can't escape alone. If you escape, you will be caught."
"You're right, maybe we should start a riot.
"Yes, this is a way. We can activate it when we distribute food or when we deliver ore.
"The door to the stone wall was open at that time. We took the weapons of the guards, then rushed into the stone door and fought all the way out."
"You can't do it." Roger thought, you are not Bohemond.
"We can call all the slaves. I will lead the Greeks and you will lead the Arabs. Together, we will have more people than the guards."
"Those slaves will not listen to you and join the riot. Many of them are ordinary tenant farmers. They are used to being enslaved and have no idea of resistance."
"We are their leader, how dare they not listen to us?"
"Our status was given by Heller. When we oppose Heller, this status disappears, and others will not listen to us because of this."
"Hell, you're right, Heller is the biggest here, and they all listen to him.
"Then is there any other way? For example, the two of us can catch Heller and force him to let us go?"
"It's useless. Let's not talk about how we can defeat the guards guarding us with our bare hands. Even if we do it, Norton will not let us go."
"Norton listens to Heller."
"But he won't listen to the kidnapped Heller."
"This won't work, and that won't work either. Is there really no hope at all?"
"Hope, what a beautiful thing, without it, I wouldn't be able to survive a day in this hell.
"But hope alone is not enough. In fact, I have a plan, and I have been working hard for this plan."
"You mean your mission?"
"This is part of the plan. You were right about one thing just now. We need to unite all the forces that can be combined until we are strong enough to break this cage."
"But you just said that those slaves are used to being enslaved and will not resist."
"A person who is accustomed to being enslaved will not rebel against his master, but he will rebel against his master's enemies."
"But their master is Heller."
"Then help them find a more powerful master and make Heller an enemy of this master."
"Who? Who can be more powerful than Heller? And be hostile to Heller?"
"Jesus."
Roger said, he thought of the Crusaders and what he had heard about the bloody storm in the name of God.
An Arab slave passed near them.
He saluted Roger and said: "Father."
Roger blessed him and the other party left happily.
Dulles joked: "How many children do you have now? Ten, twenty? I'm older than you, but I don't have any children."
"Please, this is just a religious title. I baptized them and they respected me like their godfather."
"Your method is very good. These people will definitely listen to you, no matter what you ask them to do. It's a pity that I don't have your ability and can't make up those religious stories."
"That's not made up. It's written in the Bible."
The two got up and walked back along the lake.
Dulles said: "I have read the Bible, but I can't remember so many stories.
"You must be a monk from some monastery.
"You know so much about religion, and you can also speak Latin. I guessed it right.
"I sometimes think you are a priest, but you look too young to be that.
"I guess you must be serving as a deacon for the priest in some church."
Roger was noncommittal. He thought, you're half right.
After accepting the title, he inherited the identity of the Pope's envoy left by his father, which Simon had never used and had been controlled by Adelaide.
Roger glanced at Dulles.
He thought, so in terms of status, he was indeed a deacon.
But it does not belong to any priest, but to the pope, the deacon who has the power to appoint and remove all bishops and priests in Sicily and southern Italy.
Roger and Dulles passed by a group of slaves who were resting. They did not call Roger "Father", but they treated him with great respect.
These slaves asked: "Dear sir, please take pity on us poor people and tell us a story."
Roger agreed.
He knew that although these were Arabs, they were all lower-class people. They were previously tied to the countryside and did not have many opportunities to come into contact with Christian teachings.
After arriving here, the suffering and depression made these people's spirits need comfort even more.
Their thirst for religion is like dry farmland waiting for rain. Now they are willing to accept no matter what religion it is.
Roger said:
"Once upon a time, there was a man named Job. He was very rich and had many children. He believed in God devoutly.
One day Satan said to God:
'Is there no reason why Job loves you? You gave him whatever his heart desired. You are so good to him, how can he not love you? If you take all these away, he will curse you.
'
God answered Satan:
'Try it, you can take away everything he has, but you are not allowed to hurt him.'
Satan got God's permission, so he sent robbers to cause disaster, causing Job to lose all his property and all his children to die.
Did Job curse God as Satan said? Did he worship Satan?
No!
He said: 'I was born naked, and I will die naked. My Lord takes and takes away - my Lord's name should be blessed.'
When Satan saw that he had failed, he added:
'That's because I can't touch a hair on his head or hurt him. Job is in good health, but if he gets sick, he will definitely curse you.'
With God's permission, the devil made Job sick.
Job's body was covered with malignant sores from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. They were painful, itchy, and extremely uncomfortable.
Now, what should Job do?
His wife said to him: 'Curse God and die.'
Did he do this?
No.
Has he lost his faith?
No.
Job answered his wife:
'Can we only receive blessings from God and not suffer disasters?'
He still believed in God.
Finally God restored his health and gave him more property and more children.
So, poor people, don't give up hope.
As long as you devoutly believe in God, one day you will escape from this sea of suffering and get the life you want."
