Chapter 85 Extra Story: The Adventures of Teenagers 38

The unwavering support of the slaves made Roger a little proud. He knew that the slaves now believed in him.

He knew that this was due to his religious indoctrination, to science in his eyes, and to the "miracles" in the eyes of slaves.

All the slaves were deceived by him, and they believed in him as if they believed in God.

Then he blamed himself very much. He felt that he was too selfish and his purpose was always for himself.

Now, he wants to drag everyone to die with him.

Heller understood the attitude of the slaves. Without saying anything more, he ordered the attack.

The iron fence has not been pulled up.

Everyone is waiting to fight, like a matador and a bull facing each other across the fence.

But after a long time, the iron fence was still not pulled up.

Heller was a little confused and then got angry: "What are you doing?!"

Roger saw the guards in charge of the winch sweating profusely and shouting injustice:

"It's stuck, Lord Heller. It's completely stuck and can't be pulled."

Roger saw Heller and Norton running to the tower, and then more guards ran over, creating a chaos and commotion.

Finally, everyone present understood that the iron fence might not be moved unless the city gate was dismantled.

A guard hung a rope from the wall in an attempt to come down. Several slaves immediately went up to greet him with sticks, and the rope was pulled up again.

Roger really hoped that the guards would be stupid and come down one by one to deliver food, but it's a pity that they are not stupid.

The stalemate continued until evening.

Heller appeared on the wall again and said:

"I am a kind person. Even though you betrayed me, I will still give you a chance to look back and see what I have brought to you?"

Heller poured down a basket of dark, unknown food.

"Eat, remember this is from me, not Jesus. Ruggiero, translator, don't let me underestimate you."

Roger looked at the food on the floor beside the wall. The amount was far from enough for everyone.

Roger secretly sighed, Heller is really smart, he uses one move after another if it doesn't work. This is a conspiracy, a naked attack of differentiation.

Roger didn't play tricks, he translated it literally.

At night, many torches were lit on the city walls, although everyone knew that the slaves could not climb up.

The slaves also guarded the wall with sticks, although everyone knew that the guards would not risk coming down.

The food was still there, even though every slave was hungry.

Roger thought it would be good to pick up the food and share it with everyone.

But when the words came to his lips, he couldn't say them out.

Finally, a slave walked over to pick up the food. It was the father of the father and son pair.

The father bent down and picked up the food despite everyone's abuse and contempt.

He didn't eat.

He took it back and let his son eat it.

His son turned his head and ignored him.

"Eat, this is what I give to you, not what Heller gave you."

"Do you want me to go to hell?"

"I am the one who is going to hell. You are still growing. Eat, this is what I gave you."

"No, I would rather die."

After the son finished speaking, he spat on the ground with a stubborn look on his face and tears streaming from his eyes.

"Okay, if you don't want to eat, then don't eat." The father threw the food back, "I'll stay with you, I'll stay with you."

Another sleepless night.

When the sun shone into the valley again, Heller appeared on the city wall.

"You can't survive three days." Heller held out three fingers, "You can't survive."

Roger knew that Heller was right. He was not Jesus and could not conjure food out of thin air. Hunger would eventually defeat them.

He didn't know what he was insisting on. If slaves were doing it for their faith, what about him?

He thought that he didn't believe in Jesus at all, and his persistence was just to let him live a few more days, but what was the point?

He thought, if there is no hope, still persisting, what is this but stupidity? Could there be a miracle?

Roger thought, he felt that he was so hungry that his legs were so weak that he couldn't stand.

He fell to the ground, and the ground was like dough. He felt that he was hallucinating from hunger, and there was a rumbling sound in the hallucination.

The rumbling sound soon disappeared, and the ground remained as hard as ever.

So, Roger thought, this is an illusion.

However, he heard people cheering, first one person, then more and more.

"The wall is falling!" "The wall is falling!"

Roger suddenly realized that there had been an earthquake. He was refreshed. He looked at the stone wall in front of him, standing majestically as usual.

He thought, so it was still an illusion, including the cheers.

"The wall is falling!" "The wall is falling!"

The cheering continues.

Roger looked up at Heller, who looked blankly into the distance.

Roger looked back following Heller's gaze, and he saw that at the other end of the valley, the stone wall had disappeared and collapsed into a slope.

He looked around again and saw that the sentry posts on the cliff had collapsed, but there seemed to be no one inside.

Roger did not cheer. He was a little confused. He thought of the Bible:

"When God closes this door, he will open another door for you."

He thought, the iron fence sealed the city gate, so should he just open a wall?

Roger shook his head. He felt that the scientific explanation was more reliable.

This is a caldera and the geological structure is not stable. It is normal for a bomb to explode here and cause an earthquake.

He suddenly felt a little nervous. There was still lava underneath. Is it going to erupt?

The slaves ran towards the gap with joy and nothing could stop them.

Roger saw Heller stamping his feet angrily at the top of the city, like a gambler with red eyes. Then Heller hurriedly ran down the city wall.

"Norton! Team up, team up! I'm going to catch them all with my own hands, and I won't let anyone go!"

Roger heard the sounds of chaotic footsteps coming from the other side of the wall, the squeaking of the wheels of the prison cart, the wild shouts of Heller and Norton, and the frantic responses of the guards.

These sounds gradually faded away, and eventually there was silence in the village.

Roger ran across the slope. Outside was a strange forest, surrounded by mountains in the distance.

Joyful slaves gathered outside, some praying and some cheering.

Roger looked around, it seemed that no one was running away by himself, everyone was waiting for his instructions.

"We escaped, we escaped!" Dulles was excited.

Roger didn't know where to go next, so he asked: "Who is familiar with this forest?"

No one answered. After a while, someone whispered: "Heller is familiar."

A term came to Roger's mind: false security.

Although they escaped from the valley, in this unfamiliar mountain forest, Heller and his men would catch them one by one like prey.

Maybe some people will eventually escape, but Roger believes that the vast majority will fall back into Heller's hands.

So Roger said: "We can't escape Heller's pursuit."

"What do we do, fight them?" Dulles said.

"We can't beat them. Our equipment is too poor and the terrain is unfamiliar."
