Chapter 89 Extra Story: The Adventures of Teenagers 42 Uninvited Guest(1/2)
Victory.
Roger felt weak all over, he said nothing, and the slaves were silent.
They had lost too much in the previous battles, and even if they won, there would be nothing to cheer about.
Roger dragged his heavy steps through the bloody road. When he walked out of the village, there was no one outside.
Neither Heller nor the guards were there. Only the prison car was still there, and a few horses were leisurely gnawing the grass in front of them.
Roger didn't care about the horses. He thought, there is grass outside, let them take care of themselves.
Roger walked back slowly, he was exhausted.
Before, it was all supported by the stimulation of adrenaline hormones, but now it was safe, and he suddenly felt heavy-headed.
He could hardly open his eyes, but he knew it was not the time to rest yet.
He ordered the slaves to bring in the ladder and knock wood and block the open gate of the village.
Roger saw slaves already picking up the bodies, so he went over to help.
All the dead must be buried, and only Roger will be the final master. As the "godfather", he has the unshirkable responsibility.
Roger also prayed for the dead guards. He didn't hate them. They were all Christians, but they just had different views.
He looked at the hastily dug grave, where the corpses were lined up side by side.
He thought that when they were alive, these people fought like feuds to the end, but when they died, they were like friends sleeping next to each other.
By the time all this was done, Roger could hardly stand. He found a bed at random and fell asleep.
...
"Enemy attack!"
Roger woke up suddenly, grabbed his sword and rushed out.
It was pitch black outside the house, and the torches on the wall extended outwards.
Roger didn't see the enemy. He only saw the son of the slaves on the wooden wall of the stockade, shouting:
"Enemy attack! There are enemies!"
Suddenly, many arrows shot up in a swarm, but most of them missed.
But there were also several arrows stuck in the young man's body.
So the young man stopped shouting and fell down from the wooden wall.
So Roger yelled: "Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"
All the slaves who were still able to move rushed out.
Roger saw that some people were bare-handed and had even forgotten to take their spears.
A rope was thrown around the picket of the wooden wall, and then another.
Then hula la, I don’t know how many ropes were put on it.
Roger knew that someone would climb up the next moment.
It is too late to organize defense.
He suddenly noticed the torch again, the flames stretching out wildly.
It's the wind, the wind is blowing outward!
Roger shouted: "Spread sulfur powder! Spread sulfur powder! Spread it all out! Spread it out!"
So boxes of sulfur ore powder were thrown up.
Blown by the wind, the mineral powder crossed the wooden wall and spread out.
"Ah" "My eyes" "Fuck you" "Cough cough"
Roger heard screams outside the wall.
He was secretly proud of his quick wit.
He thought that those who were attacked at night must be wide-eyed. Now I will give you some color to see.
A slave went up with an ax to cut the rope.
Roger shouted: "Watch out for bows and arrows!"
No arrows were shot, and the sounds outside the wall gradually faded away.
Roger thought that the attackers must have retreated.
Roger hunched over the wooden wall and looked around. It was pitch black outside and he couldn't see anything.
The enemy's sneak attack failed.
But who is the opponent?
Roger was confused.
He looked back at the stockade. The slaves had calmed down from their panic, and they spontaneously made preparations for defense.
Roger saw the father holding his son's body shaking.
The father didn't cry loudly, he just swallowed harder, as if something was blocking his throat, preventing him from even crying.
It wasn't until the dawn of dawn lifted the veil of darkness that Roger could see clearly who his opponent was.
A large group of bandits gathered outside.
The leader was Roger's old acquaintance, Aulus, who had a pair of green bean eyes.
"Hey, Ruggiero, you hurt a lot of my men, you son of a bitch, do you know what hospitality is?"
"How do you want me to receive a polite 'guest' who comes uninvited and doesn't even knock on the door?"
Roger didn't show any signs of weakness, but he felt a little uneasy in his heart.
He thought, could these bandits be reinforcements brought in by Heller?
He scanned the bandits and saw a few familiar ones, but he didn't see Heller or anyone dressed as a guard.
"Okay, okay, I'm used to being turned away anyway. I won't talk nonsense like you, a bird. Where is Heller? Let that eggless bastard come out to see me."
"Heller is gone. He is not here."
Aulus frowned and squinted, leaving only a single line in his eyes.
Roger saw that Aulus seemed to be observing the village gate which was heavily blocked by debris.
After a while, Aulus said: "I seem to have missed a good show. So now the village belongs to you, little bastard?"
"Now I have the final say on this village."
Aulus touched his chin and said: "A stupid boy can also be a master? His butt is on top. Then I'll tell you straight.
"Heller didn't give me the money he promised to give me. I came here to collect the debt.
"And he also promised to let me live in his village.
"You inherit Heller's stockade, and you also inherit his debts.
"So, this village belongs to me now. You can get out."
"dream."
"Ruggiero, you are such a bastard. Fortunately, my daughter still likes you."
Roger remained calm, he would not be swayed by Aulus' frivolous words.
And he didn't see Aura either.
"You bastard, do you think that if you don't let me in, I won't be able to get in?
"I've built so many strongholds, do you think you can stop me with your broken walls and doors?
"I'm just talking to you for the sake of Aura, so don't be so fucking shameless!"
Aulus had a sinister look on his face, as if he was about to turn against him at the next moment.
Roger was not intimidated, he thought, why is Aulus talking nonsense to me?
He looked in the distance and saw no movement of bandits logging in the woods.
He thought, why didn't Aulus make preparations to attack the stronghold?
Perhaps a rope would be enough for a sneak attack, but for a frontal attack on the stronghold, did he really think he could get up just by relying on a rope?
Roger knew that Aulus was not completely bragging. The other party had indeed breached the stronghold. At least he had seen the Arabs' stronghold being breached.
Roger thought that it was impossible for Aulus not to know what preparations were needed to attack a walled stronghold.
But he did nothing but talked to me.
So, he was deceiving me, and he didn't want to continue attacking at all.
So Roger said confidently: "Just come, you can see how sharp my sword is."
To be continued...
