Chapter 1 The Guardian in the Museum

In the year of Gengzi, winter.

The fifteenth day of the first lunar month, Lantern Festival.

In the capital, a circle of red viewing lights lit up on the palace walls of the Qing Dynasty Palace, and the sound of opera came from the Changyin Pavilion. The golden glazed tiles projected a scroll of thousands of miles of rivers and mountains. At 7 o'clock in the evening, there were already crowds outside the palace gate, and these were tourists waiting to enter the venue at night.

In the past 100 years, this is the first time that the Qing Palace Museum has been open to the public at night. It is usually open during the day and then closed at 4 o'clock.

Whether it is heard or circulated on the Internet, we all know that the doors are not open at night in the palace. The reason is that the palace is extremely yin energy at night, and many strange events have occurred, especially about a pair of embroidered shoes appearing in the square in the palace, as well as the eunuch carrying lanterns and the laughter in the dry well. These rumors make people feel a little numb when they hear it.

As for whether the rumors are true or not, there are many different opinions. After all, the official has never made any public statement.

It is 7:30, and there is still half an hour before the opening of the palace gate at night.

Inner Palace area, Fengxian Hall.

The family temple where the royal families of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshiped their ancestors was a two-story attic in a small courtyard west of the main hall. There was a dim kerosene lamp in the building because there was no electricity here. On a reclining chair in the yard in front of the attic, there was a young man in his twenties standing next to the old man with his hands on his back.

Neither old nor young said anything. The old was keeping his mind closed. The young man pinched a few Five Emperors coins in his hand and heard a "rattle" sound. He looked at the palace group in the east and said softly: "Grandpa, there will be no peace in the palace tonight..."

To the east of Fengxian Hall, from the Meridian Gate to Taihe Gate Square, and then from Xima Road to the city tower, it is the area where the Qing Palace will be opened tonight.

Suddenly, a group of people came over outside the courtyard. The head was Cao Zhengfan, the director of the Qing Palace Museum. He brought a vice president and several staff members responsible for opening tonight to the attic and saw the old and young in the courtyard.

The old man is Chen Daolin, a geek guard of the Qing Palace Museum.

The young man is his grandson, named Chen Jingzhi.

The palace is not peaceful at night, but it is true. Since the abdication of the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty and the fall of the Qing Dynasty, it has been more than a hundred years since the resignation of the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty. In this long period of time, this huge palace complex has accumulated yin energy and the accumulation of some of the eunuchs and palace maids who once died in the palace, it is destined that the night in the palace will become a stage for all kinds of ghosts and monsters.

From Chen Jingzhi to the top, three generations of the Chen family were the geese guards of the Qing Palace.

To suppress one side of evil, three evil spirits and five diseases, guard the palace and eight directions, and to be safe and peaceful.

President Cao Zhengfan walked into the courtyard. Chen Daolinye opened his eyes and nodded at him. The other party said, "The old man will be open for half an hour to welcome tourists. The Qing Palace will open at night for the first time in a hundred years. Although we have made complete preparations for these areas, just in case, we still have to ask you to come out and take charge."

Chen Daolin stood up and said, "The Chen family is the guardian of the Forbidden City. Keeping the palace is our duty, so President Cao doesn't need to be polite."

"Xiao Wang, come here and follow Mr. Chen for a while. Just follow his instructions. If you have any questions, please refer to the old man's words. Don't report to me." Cao Zhengfan turned around and pointed at the young man in his 1930s and said.

"My name is Wang Changming, old..."

Chen Daolin waved his hand at this time, then pointed to his grandson beside him and said, "I won't go out tonight, just let him do it, my grandson Chen Jingzhi."

Cao Zhengfan was stunned for a moment, and didn't seem to have much thought that Chen Daolin would not come forward but sent out his grandson. He looked at Chen Jingzhi. The young man looked thin and clean, no different from the college students outside, but Cao Zhengfan always felt that it was not enough to let him calm down tonight.

Cao Zhengfan said tactfully: "Sir, don't you think about it anymore?"

"Jingzhi has lived with me since he was a child. You may not know the chaos that happened at night in the palace many times. Sometimes I was too lazy to move and most of them were handled by him. When he was ten years old, he came to the Qing Palace to repair it. Chen Jingzhi has always been by everyone. He has been with Lei for more than three years. If we talk about the layout in the palace, he may be much more familiar than you all." Chen Daolinren seemed to have noticed the disbelief of these staff members, and suddenly said: "He also studied martial arts for eight years by the son of the same palace!"

The two people mentioned by Chen Daolin, style Lei and Mr. Gong, both have a deep relationship with the Qing Palace. The former is commonly known as Lei Master. The ancestors of the Lei family focused on the construction technique. The construction of this palace was made by the ancestors of the Lei family. From the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, whether they were first-rank officials or royal relatives, 80% of them were built by the Lei family.

The Mr. Gong who Chen Daolin mentioned was Gong Baotian, who was a master in the palace. Later, Gong Baotian died in the Qing Dynasty and left the palace to serve as a bodyguard for Zhang Zuolin. In that chaotic era, he relieved Zhang Dashen at least five times and protected him from his death for six years.

Cao Zhengfan's expression obviously relaxed when he heard Chen Daolin say this. He looked at Chen Jingzhi and nodded, saying, "Then I'll trouble you tonight. Please do your best."

A gentle smile appeared on Chen Jingzhi's clean face, and he nodded and said, "No need to say much about what he has to do..."

A few minutes later, Chen Jingzhi walked out of the attic with a canvas bag on his shoulder and followed Cao Zhengfan and others. Chen Daolin in the yard looked at the backs of the group who had gone away and disappeared into the night, and said softly: "Even if you are my grandson, you have to be a test if you want to go to the army. The palace gate will be wide open tonight. I hope you will suddenly appear. After all, there are still many things to do in the future!"

At 7:55, Chen Jingzhi and Wang Changming stood in the square outside the Meridian Gate, mixed with many tourists.

In another five minutes, the Qing Palace Museum at night will usher in the first crowded one hundred years later.

"Is there really a lot of dirty things in the palace at night?" Wang Changming asked curiously.

Chen Jingzhi glanced at him and asked back, "Report your birthday."

"What are you doing?" Wang Changming asked in confusion.

"I think your horoscope is hard or not. If it is not hard, it means that the yang energy is light and the yin energy is heavy. If you enter the palace later, you may come to your house and the dirty things come out."

Wang Changming was shocked and said, "Is there really there?"

Chen Jingzhi looked at the brightly lit courtyard wall in front of him and said, "Since the construction of this palace, there have been 24 emperors in two dynasties, but no one knows how many eunuchs there were in the Ming and Qing dynasties, palace maids and guards, and concubines. Some of these people can die in good health, but a considerable number of them were buried in the palace. Even the princes and concubines have this possibility. There is a saying you may not have heard, but I think it is very appropriate to describe it."

Wang Changming asked subconsciously: "What?"
