Chapter 44: Re-entering the Black City (2)

Anthony passed through the grooves of the wall that were carved out to park the corpse, stood firm, and took the torch handed over by Joel. "I didn't expect that I came into the tomb from such a place." Anthony lowered his head and looked at the corpse wrapped in a nearly rotten shroud that was carried by other players on the corridor of the tomb. It was a mummy at all. Because the corpse that was processed by the women in the Sabre room generally did not rot, it would eventually turn into a mummy rather than an ordinary skeleton rack.

Joel held up the lantern and looked around. The smell of smoke in the air made him feel a little uneasy. It was not just the smell of burning torches, but another smell, which seemed to be left behind by the burning of some herbs. "Is there a restroom girl here?" Joel heard Anthony's surprise voice, "I thought there would be no restroom girl in the monastery with only monks!"

"Every tomb needs a restroom girl, right?" Joel replied lightly.

"This is not the case now. In most cities in the south, tomb guards are used to replace the restroom women, or the restroom women are used to replace the tomb guards. Generally, people in both positions will not appear together." Anthony shrugged, "After all, the nobles nowadays pay great attention to 'decent', and the church will naturally not be inferior to them."

Is that true? It's so boring. Although Joel thought so, he didn't say it because he didn't want to continue discussing the topic. "Let's go, I have a bad premonition." Joel said and walked towards the side where there was no body blocking the way. The ground was full of messy footprints, because the only restroom girl in the tomb now is a blind man, so no one cleaned the dust accumulated on the ground, so he could easily distinguish the footprints on the ground.

"A bad premonition?" Anthony showed a puzzled expression, but seeing that Joel had no intention of answering, he had to follow him in silence.

The fire dispelled the darkness in front of him, but immediately the darkness was swallowed up behind him. There were many corpses in the grooves on both sides of the walls. Anthony was frightened. As soon as the fire dispelled the darkness, a pair of dark eyes might suddenly appear in the grooves on both sides of the left and right sides looking at him. They were the empty eye sockets of the deceased. "To be honest, I really don't want to come to such a place," Anthony said in a low voice, as if he was afraid of waking up the deceased around him. "Do we really want to fight with these things?"

At this time, they heard the low conversations of mercenaries in front of them, and from time to time there would be a burst of laughter that deliberately lowered their voices. These sounds echoed in this dark and silent catacomb, which seemed very strange, just like the dead talking to each other, making people feel creepy. Then they saw a firelight coming from the end of the tunnel ahead, and they could vaguely see figures shaking in the firelight, those mercenaries waiting to enter Black City.

They continued to move forward, and the sound from the fire suddenly stopped. Joel could feel the gaze coming from there. Obviously, those people were looking at them, and the footsteps were also echoing in the corridor of the tomb. There were footsteps in front and footsteps behind, which made Anthony always turn back in confusion to see if it was the Alps or other mercenaries coming over.

Sure enough, when he got close, Joel felt that his bad premonition was confirmed. The hunched figure was also among the mercenaries. She sat on the edge of a protruding base of a stone pillar, with her hands on her knees, and a black lantern at her feet. Her wrinkled face was lowered, as if she was staring at the ground in a daze, but Joel knew that it was because she could not see anything.

"Oh? Isn't this Drake?" After someone recognized them, someone came over immediately. "We caught a...well, it seemed like a restroom girl."

"Hmm?" Anthony was stunned for a moment, and then he immediately looked at Joel, "This is the bad premonition you said?"

Joel did not answer, but walked towards the old man. The mercenaries leaning against the wall opposite the old man immediately frowned and did not look at him, but did not stop him. "Why are you here?" Joel asked with a frown.

The old man was stunned for a moment, then immediately raised his head: "Mr. Kang Ting?" The old man seemed very surprised, "Why are you..." Then she immediately understood something, "You brought these people here? Who are they?"

Before Joel could answer, the mercenaries behind him immediately said sternly: "It's not your business, we have said it many times!" The old man immediately shut up after hearing this.

Joel turned around and looked at the mercenaries. They were all young guys who deliberately pretended to be fierce and evil, with an impatient look on his face, but he seemed to have not realized that the other party was just a blind old man. They didn't want to get into trouble. Although they didn't know where they learned these experiences, it was indeed very useful, so Joel would not expose them. "They are here to save this city." Joel said lightly. Although he felt like he was going to laugh out loud, the old nun didn't seem to have so much suspicion, and then she showed a surprised look.

"Anyway..." She couldn't understand.

"I hope you can keep this matter secret." Joel said calmly to the old nun.

"How is this possible!" The old nun suddenly raised his voice, "You are planning to enter the tomb at the bottom tomb to steal burial objects, right?! Are you tomb robbers?"

"Ha? Old lady, what are you talking nonsense?!" The mercenaries around him suddenly became excited. Joel looked over and was excited about the mercenaries who looked very young. "Who would ask for those dead things?!"

Yes, yes, those who are excited are all young mercenaries. They may not really get the funeral objects, but other mercenaries who seem very cunning to keep silent may be.

"So what are you going to do? What purpose do you want to come to this tomb?" the old nun asked sternly without fear. Joel frowned. Did she think I would protect her by the side so she could be unscrupulous?

Although it is actually similar, Joel will not let these mercenaries hurt her...

The mercenaries seemed to be angry and wanted to answer, but Anthony walked over and patted one of them on the shoulder, signaling them not to speak out, and then he walked to Joel's side: "Hello, nun."

"You are Mr. Drake, aren't you?" Anthony was stunned, "I just heard your subordinates call you that."

Anthony smiled, although the old nun could not see it: "That's true, nun, we have no malice in coming here."

"It is a kind of intrusion for you to come to this place." The old nun completely changed his tone when he spoke to Anthony, and the excited voice just now became calm and sophisticated. "May the Black God forgive you if you can leave immediately."

"Of course, we will leave immediately after our people arrive." Anthony replied with a smile.

"All people are here?" the old nun frowned, "What are you going to do?"

"Well, keep this secret for the time being. I can only tell you that we are here to save Golden Falls." Anthony said with a smile, "so I hope you can get your help."

"Hmph, it sounds so nice. Why do I believe in a group of people who have been branded as 'betrayal'?" the old nun said coldly, "Anyway, you just want to take the opportunity to pack your waist, right?"

"Yes, of course, pack your waist while saving Golden Falls." Anthony nodded and admitted, "But our purpose is at least good. You don't want Golden Falls to be destroyed, do you?"

"You said you want to save Jin Falls, so why don't you go to the front line to fight against the monsters that come out of the mountain, but come to this tomb?" the old nun asked suspiciously.

"Drake, stop talking nonsense to her," said a mercenary next to her impatiently. "Just throw her here and knock her out after we are all together. Anyway, the city is already in chaos now, and no one will care about us."

"Are you really tomb robbers?" the old nun asked coldly.

"So, we are not tomb robbers," Anthony sighed, and then he looked at the mercenary beside him, "Forget it, you can watch her first, remember not to hurt her, and don't let her escape. What threat can an old man have?"

"Don't underestimate this old man." Joel said to Anthony in a low voice, and then the old nun suddenly sneered.

Neither did the old man who made a very gloomy laugh in this catacomb, Joel and Anthony walked deeper into the tunnel, and several people walked while walking. When they were faced with a black iron gate, they stopped. The last group of people just squeezed at the edge of the black gate. When Anthony approached, several of them became obviously unnatural.

Anthony suddenly frowned, "The number of people is wrong," he asserted, "three fewer." Then he looked at the others around him, "Does anyone know where other people have gone?"

"I don't know." A man leaning against the black gate replied casually.

"Has anyone ever been in the door?" Joel asked.

"I don't know." The man still looked careless.

"Is anyone entering the dungeon early?" Anthony did not look at the person, but looked at the people around him. He found that many people deliberately avoided his gaze. "I said that no one would allow anyone to enter the dungeon early?!" Anthony suddenly became angry. He shouted at the person leaning against the Black Gate. His voice attracted the attention of many people around him. Those players who were far away from the Black Gate also came over, and the originally narrow tunnel was blocked by the onlookers.

"I said I don't know." The man also raised his voice and replied.

Then a black sword was placed on his neck, and the people around him exclaimed. They didn't notice when Joel drew the sword. The man widened his eyes and looked down at the blade in Joel's hand that reflected a slightly flame light.

"Hey! What do you want to do?!" The people around suddenly became excited, and several people even pulled out their weapons, while others immediately consciously distanced themselves from the people holding the weapons.

"Are you in the same group?" Anthony turned around and looked at the people who drew their weapons. They looked at each other but didn't say anything.

"You have to figure it out," Joel's husky and ugly voice calmed down the people around him. "I don't have time to play this kind of game with you. If your existence only drags us down, I will abandon you without hesitation."

"You, you guy..." Joel widened his eyes when he saw the person who was pressed against his neck with his sword, his eyes as if they could spit out anger. "Don't think I'm afraid of you?! Try it! See if my friends will let you go!"

"If I kill you, they won't touch me." Joel said to him coldly.

"What did you say?!" The man seemed to be amused by Joel's words, "Let me tell you! If you don't take the sword away, will it work? We will immediately turn you two into corpses?" Joel looked at the people holding weapons next to him, and they did take two steps forward with a cold face.

"What a touching friendship," Joel said lightly, "But have you ever thought about it? If Anthony and I were killed, do you think others would let you go?" Joel's words made the people holding weapons pause. "I can just say that if we were not the two of us, let alone the capture was successful, you would not even be able to come out of Black City alive."

Joel's words made the men look thoughtful, "You think carefully," and said, Joel took the sword off the man's neck. "You all think carefully, what do you want to get in this black city?" Then Joel grabbed the man's leather armor and pulled him away from the black gate, and pushed him towards the people holding weapons. "You'd better think clearly," Joel said to them, "think clearly whether we will hold such a grudge. Let's set a trap for you in this black city and let you die."

Joel's words made the faces of those people look ugly, but he didn't care so much, but reached out and pushed the heavy black door. Sure enough, from the dust below the door, the door was opened not long ago. "They did go in." Joel said while pushing the door, and then he immediately frowned, "What's wrong." Joel's words attracted Anthony's attention, and Anthony immediately stepped forward to help push the door. Joel held the sword in one hand, so he could only push the door with one hand, but Anthony used both hands, but even so, the door remained motionless.

"Who will help me!" said Anthony, who realized that there was trouble. He immediately came over, and then stretched out his hands to push the black iron door. It was a double-open door with complex and obscure carvings on it, which looked very ancient.

"It seems that something blocked the door!" A mercenary who pushed the door said in a deep voice.

"Can't it be the guys who just entered blocked the door and wanted to take over the things inside alone?" a man suddenly questioned loudly.

"Impossible?" One of the people holding the weapon just now shouted in surprise.

"These bastards!" The shock on the face of the lazy guy immediately turned into anger. He rushed over and helped the other two strong mercenaries push the door hard together. Then the door was pushed open, very slowly. Something was indeed blocking the door.

However, outside the door was a staircase extending downward. After the door was pushed open, the things blocked the door rolled down the stairs. People heard the sound of metal hitting the stone stairs from the cracks that were opened. Everyone was stunned by the sound. Then they immediately pushed open the door. The things blocked the door disappeared, so the door could be opened easily.

However, what appeared in front of everyone kept their breath. It was not to see the thing first, but to smell the smell first, which was the smell of blood and smell, which was the stench that only came out of the stincts when a person was opened and his stomach was broken. Many veterans on the battlefield knew this smell, and then the bloody scene in front of him was pulled out of the darkness by the firelight thrown in from the door: the three of them fell at the stairs in front of the door, their bodies were all spread down, and the heads of the two corpses were facing the black gate,

The outside corpse had no head, but there seemed to be a black thing at the end of the fire. Obviously, they were chased by something to come to the Black Gate. The back of a corpse seemed to be pierced by several spears, making it bloody and bloody. However, no enemy weapons were left at the scene. One of them had lost his feet. The headless corpse leaning against the Black Gate rolled down because he pushed open the Black Gate, but it seemed that he was the one who had his intestines and belly broken.

Everyone was confused by this scene. "What is this..." The guy who had been leaning against the door just now widened his eyes, and the sweat dripping from beans slid down his face.

"Hey! What happened?!" One of the strong mercenaries in charge of pushing open the iron gate immediately pressed his shoulder and asked loudly, "Why did this happen?! Haven't you been staying here all the time?! Why didn't you find it?!"

"After all, wasn't it just you who encouraged the three of them to go in just now?!" Suddenly one person shouted loudly, "What are you thinking about?! I almost went in with the three of them just now?!"

"No, I don't know! I didn't hear anything!" The man denied loudly in horror, "Really, believe me! I did nothing! I just encouraged them to go in, I don't know what was going on!"

The bloody scene stimulated everyone present, and the crazy atmosphere began to spread among the mercenaries.
