Chapter 50 Before the Black Gate (Part 1)

There were a total of 107 people in the team that had been assembled, ninety of which were mercenaries who had basically never fought together. They had no tacit understanding of each other, suspicion of each other, and were afraid of death. The remaining twelve were people from the Iron Chain Knights, including eleven ordinary players and a mage called "secret weapons".

The man was always in his cloak, leaning on a twisted crutch in his hand. The members of the four iron chains of the Knights were acting as guards. He did not allow anyone to come forward, and he ignored him even if others talked to him.

"What a mysterious guy." Alps couldn't help but whisper.

"The guy with a mask beside you is almost the same, right?" A player on the side retorted immediately, so Alps turned to look at Joel, but he didn't seem to care about this.

The assembled team lit the torches, and silently followed Joel and the other two leading the way in the dark and quiet tunnel, while the people from the Iron Chain Knights were responsible for the breaking of the rear. The long team was steadily strolling in the dark and quiet tunnel, and the pace was as neat as a marching army because the team was unwilling to separate. Originally, Anthony divided the team into four teams and appointed people to be the captain to be responsible for temporary command. "Because we don't know if there are any enemies in this deep tomb, I think it's better to divide it into groups. After all, if so many people walk together, an accident may cause chaos." Although Anthony told them, after voting, most players were still unwilling to separate from the guide, commander and staff.

Players are such a group of selfish ghosts who do their own things. Everyone will only consider themselves, and no one wants to be assigned to a team without Drake. Should he be said to be his reputation or the captains of their own group are not trusted? Although the selection of captains is based on the attribute panel and equipment strength, these guys are not simple guys who believe in the strong. They will doubt him from the bottom of their hearts and even despise him for no reason: Does he have this strength? Will he sell me at a critical moment? Why can he point fingers at me?

Fortunately, there was no accident on the way to Black City. No strange thing happened when Joel whispered to him, "It's almost here." Although he had already emphasized to these people before departure that he kept quiet when moving forward so as not to hide the noise from his team's coming, the walking sound of so many people alone was so noisy that it could wake up a sleeping dragon. Countless footsteps echoed in the dark and closed underground tunnel. Even if the enemy really attacked, it might not be heard at all, right?

As Joel said "about to arrive" was passed through the team's voice, someone couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, and there were more than one or two people, many people. For a moment, the relaxed sounds were connected in the dark tunnel, making it look extremely strange.

Although many people relaxed, Joel, Anthony and the Alps were always nervous. While they were alert to the surroundings, they were thinking, thinking about their second conversation before the team set out. When they just met, they went to a corner without anyone to whisper. In order not to let others hear it, they whispered like conspiracy, which made many people look alert when they looked at them. Every time they gave instructions, many people would first think about whether this was a trap and then act.

The second conversation happened after Anthony came into contact with the Knights of the Iron Chain. He brought Joel and the Alps to the corner, then watched with caution whether anyone eavesdropped, and whispered: "Osen told me that the twelve people who came were selected by Barolwufu. Except for the mage who Barolwufu ordered to help us, the remaining eleven people were people who Barolwufu thought were suspected."

After saying that, Anthony immediately cursed in a low voice: "Damn Barrowfu, I didn't plan to come to take charge of the command from the beginning!"

"Except for that mage?" Alps nodded. At this time, he lifted up his armor and revealed the handsome and noble face below. Joel and Anthony were a little uncomfortable, but he said that it would be easier to control the volume when speaking in this way, so neither of them objected. "Including Orson himself?"

"Although he looked a little unhappy, he did say that." Anthony nodded.

"After all, no one will be happy if he is suspected, right?" Alps said helplessly. He paused and said in a deep voice: "So, there is a great possibility that the 'traitor' has come here with us, right?"

"It should be, since it was the person selected by Barovu himself..." Anthony nodded slightly, expressing his agreement with the Alps' statement.

"Where is that mage?" Joel asked in a low voice.

"I don't know, I won't let me get close at all." Anthony shrugged, "Osen said that it was a weird guy. He basically didn't talk to anyone other than Barrowf, and he couldn't even get close. He said he was a weird cleansing obsession."

"Clean obsession?" Joel frowned.

"So after all, that mage is the most suspicious person, right?" Alps said bluntly.

"Who knows." Anthony didn't seem to want to continue discussing this issue, "But if that was really a mage worthy of Barolo's call it a 'secret weapon', it would be much easier for us to guide the dungeon." After saying that, he turned around and looked at other players who had begun to sneak up not far away, so he cleared his throat, "Then follow this plan to guide the dungeon." He deliberately raised the volume and said. After hearing this, the players who were about to approach immediately turned around and left as if they were wandering around.

"There are too many people here, so you all pay attention." Anthony whispered as he looked at the people who came just now, "I have a bad premonition."

The Alps nodded in agreement while covering the underwear.

Then he began to march through the deep tombs. Because things about the skeleton monsters spread among the crowd, coupled with the gloomy and terrifying atmosphere of the deep tombs, these usually arrogant mercenaries finally became more honest.

“It’s quite smooth.”

Alps couldn't help saying this after Joel said "It's almost here."

But Anthony, who heard the Alps say this, frowned: "It's been too smooth."

Then he raised a hand and asked the mercenaries behind him to stop. "Let's go ahead to reconnaise, you can rest on the spot, be alert to the enemy's attack at any time!" Without waiting for others to object, Anthony took Alps and Joel to disappear at the corner of darkness, and everyone stayed in the same place, or cursed in a low voice.

"These guys shouldn't leave us behind?" Someone asked in this question. Although some people laughed at him for being too nervous, most people didn't say anything about it.

"What's wrong?" Alps asked immediately after following Anthony and Joel to the corner behind him where the fire was not shining.

"Maybe you don't understand the situation," Anthony explained in a deep voice. "When we came down, there were more than fifty people, and nearly ten of them were missing. Don't you find it strange?"

"You said that..." Alps also felt abnormal, "If those guys were not dead, they would probably be attracted by our movements, right?"

"There are two possibilities at present, one is that they are all dead, and the other is that they are all going down to Black City." Anthony said in a deep voice, and then he looked at Joel, "Joel, take us to the entrance immediately."

Joel didn't say anything, but walked silently ahead to lead the way, and kept abreast of movements around him.

"They went down to Black City by themselves? Isn't that possible?" Alps immediately questioned, "If they were scared and ran around because of that monster, how could they have the courage to go down to Black City by themselves? There were four undead black knights there, let alone go down."

"So this is the suspicion," Anthony replied. "If they were all dead, no one found the body during this journey. These are ten people. If they died, they were divided into two situations. One was to die and die, but it was suspicious that no body was found; the other was to die together and not be found--"

"But centralized death is also suspicious." Alps nodded in understanding, "It's OK no matter what."

Joel turned over an intersection and stopped. "Here, here." He raised the torch in his hand, and Alps and Anthony walked to him. Just as they were wondering why Joel didn't move on, Joel signaled them to lower their heads.

There was a sarcophagus tilted upside down there. There were no corpses in the sarcophagus, and many small metal objects were scattered on the ground, which reflected a light of fire in the darkness. Below those things was the sand on the ground, and most importantly, there were many messy footprints on the sand.

"Have you been here, really?" Alps asked with a frown, then he raised his head and looked ahead. It was a dark and deep entrance, which seemed to lead downward. The tunnel and the entrance were scattered with a large amount of sand, and at this moment these footprints entered the tunnel along the entrance. "Did they really go down?" Alps asked suspiciously.

But at this time, Anthony suddenly said, "Ah, go back and bring those guys here. I guess they will be in a bad mood when we leave."

Although Alps felt a little dissatisfied, he still clicked, did not refuse Anthony's request, and turned around silently. As soon as Alps turned around, Anthony looked at Joel: "What do you think? Did you do this here too when you came here last time?"

Joel was silent for a moment, then replied faintly: "The body is gone." As he said that, he took out the jewel-covered fish-slicing knife from his "backpack" and handed it back to Anthony, "This knife and this mask are taken here."

"So that's it." After hearing Joel's words, Anthony nodded slightly, then put the fish cutter into the "backpack", "Is there any?"

"There weren't so many footprints at that time." Joel replied lightly.

"So, these guys have really gone inside." Anthony frowned slightly, "Do you want to go and grab some good things? Or do you escape in a panic?"

"No, there are too many footprints here." Joel reminded, and Anthony immediately squatted down to use the "observation" skill to read the number of footprints on the ground.

But he failed, "There are too many to estimate, but there must be more than six people, or even more." As he said that, Anthony scratched his head with some annoyance, and then he noticed the metal objects on the ground. He picked up a piece of it casually and couldn't help but exclaim: "It's actually gold coins."

The light underground is dim, and these gold coins are beginning to fade and become dim. If you only look at it, you can't find that these are valuable gold-forged coins.

Joel looked down at the silver coin in his hand, saw the emblem on it, and recalled the names of the silver coin that the old man's ghost thought of at that time. "The double axe coins of the Le'anle family." Joel said lightly.

"Le Anle family?" Anthony thought for a moment, then showed a sudden enlightenment, "Ah, it's that pirate family? But hasn't it disappeared long ago?"

This guy really knows everything. Joel didn't know whether he should be surprised or expected. "Now is not the time to talk about this." Just as Joel said that, the noisy walking sound was approaching, and Anthony also stood up from the ground. He looked at the tunnel ahead, "Where can it lead to after entering?"

"After entering, there is a downward staircase. At the end of the staircase, there is a heavy iron door, and behind it is the hall where the Black Knight is."

"Then let's go in and take a look." Anthony said as he pulled out the sword at his waist, but he did not move, but looked at Joel quietly. Joel sighed helplessly, then pulled out the silence at his waist, and walked into the tunnel with a torch first.

The two of them stepped over the sarcophagus on the ground and walked into the tunnel. Anthony didn't pay attention and stepped on it and immediately sank into the sand. "Wow, this is really-" Anthony, who immediately stood firm with the wall, was immediately stunned by the scene in front of him. "Footprints... are not as many as I imagined."

Yes, the footprints entering the inside could be clearly distinguished. Anthony immediately squatted down to "observe" regardless of the sand that entered the shoes. "The footprints entering the inside were almost covered by the footprints that came out when they came out." Anthony said in surprise, "Although there are a lot of footprints outside, these guys don't seem to have entered at all!"

Joel continued to walk inside in silence, because the sound of walking in the tomb behind him was getting closer and closer. If there was anything to investigate, you had to hurry up. Anthony, who realized Joel's idea, immediately stood up and followed him, stepping into the tunnel on the sand. The air in the tunnel was quite dry, but as he walked deeper and deeper, the surrounding temperature gradually became lower. When Joel left, he didn't notice it because he drank strong wine. Now he was revisiting the old place, and the coldness still made him frown slightly.

"They didn't come in?" Joel heard Anthony behind him muttering in a low voice, "Not come in? So where have they been?"

Then he raised his head as if he remembered something and asked nervously: "Joel, didn't you find any strange footprints?"

Monsters or something? Didn't see it. Although Joel answered Anthony silently in his heart, he didn't say it. This silence made Anthony even more nervous. However, he still walked into the tunnel without any haste, holding the black sword in his hand "Silence" and listening to the sounds around him.

Suddenly, the Alps cries came from behind him, and he deliberately lowered the volume: "Anthony?"

Joel stopped and turned around and looked at Anthony. Anthony turned his head and looked at the flashing fire at the exit behind. It seemed that there were many people gathering at the exit. He also lowered his voice and replied: "Let's go in and investigate. Something is wrong here! You guard the door!"

Although Anthony answered, he still heard a few people shouting dissatisfied from the exit. Then several people walked into the tunnel with torches. Because someone opened his head, someone immediately followed them into the tunnel. "Damn." Anthony frowned and looked ahead, "Let's..."

Joel had already walked away at this moment. He turned around and looked at Anthony, then walked out of the tunnel alone with a torch. The exit of the tunnel was on the right side of the wall. After walking out of the tunnel, he entered the long stairs. Although he didn't know where it was located in Golden Falls, it was certain that this was just the beginning. The size of the dungeon below would amazed everyone. Joel was sure that the dungeon was definitely no less than that of Golden Falls.

After he stepped into the stairs leading to the hall guarded by the Black Knight, he could clearly feel the temperature drop again. The cold here was surprising. Joel frowned. Was it really that cold when he came before? Joel held up the torch and looked at the stairs below, and then looked above. At this position, he could barely see the black iron door above - no, it was not a door, but an iron plate.

There was nothing else. He squatted down and looked at the ground, without clear footprints. He could not be sure if anyone had been here. At this time, Anthony also walked from the tunnel to the stairs. He shivered immediately as soon as he walked in.

"Why is it so cold?" Anthony exclaimed the same.

"I'll go and see first. You'll control the mouths of those people here and don't make any noise." Joel said as he handed the torch in his hand to Anthony, then took the lantern from his hand. Then, without waiting for Anthony to say something, he walked down the ladder alone. "The Black Knight is the silent Black God's knight. Don't lead them up. In such a tunnel, they have no chance of winning."

After hearing Joel's words, Anthony's face immediately became serious. He did not say anything to Joel, but turned around and walked into the tunnel, looking at the other mercenaries who had walked down from above with a serious expression.
