Chapter 74 Cold Dawn (Part 2)

Joel walked around the mansion of the Iron Chain Knights, which attracted many confused eyes. They had never seen Joel. Although they knew that there were many outsiders in the mansion of their guild, Joel still looked very suspicious: his raised hood, his torn clothes and cloak, his tall voice, his burned skin looming under the hood, and his cold eyes.

If the flying fish hadn't caught up and found Joel, the member of the Iron Chain Knights who stood up after seeing Joel and the handle of the iron sword at his waist would have begun to question Joel.

"They are here." Feiyu said to Joel, then turned around and walked up the stairs, while Joel nodded slightly to the member of the Iron Chain Knights who stood up and looked at him, and then followed Feiyu.

"Where is the Alps?" Joel asked after following the flying fish.

Feiyu was silent for a moment, then said, "You'd better ask Aleya."

After saying that, he walked to a closed door and knocked on it. After a moment of silence inside the door, he heard Aleya's vigilant voice: "Who is it?"

"It's me," Feiyu paused, and then said, "and Mr. Kang Ting."

Joel heard the sound of women's heels stepping on the wooden floor inside the door, and Feiyu turned around and looked at Joel, then whispered to him: "I... I'm waiting for you under the stairs. If you want to see her... come to me."

After saying that, Feiyu walked towards the stairs. Joel turned his head and looked at Feiyu's back as he left. At this time, the door of the room opened, and the tall man opened the door. He nodded slightly to Joel and said, "Please come in."

Joel walked into the room, and the tall man immediately closed the door. Joel ignored him and did not even look at Aleya sitting by the bed and Atherland standing by the window, but looked directly at Hemi sitting on the bed.

She could see it. Joel almost forgot to breathe after blinking the eyes with the golden light. Then he opened his mouth and wanted to say something, but his mind was blank and he couldn't think of anything to say. When Hemi saw him, he showed him a lonely smile, which made Joel's heart twitch slightly.

"Mr. Contin," Joel walked over, Hermi's voice was crying, but there were no tears on her face, "Mr. Contin, I..."

Joel raised his hand and told her not to speak, but sat down along the edge of the bed, and then wanted to reach out to hold the girl's hand. But his burned hand suddenly froze when he lifted it into the air. Then Joel took back his hand and turned to look at Aleya who was beside him: "What's wrong with her eyes?"

"I don't know," Aleya said softly, her pale blue eyes also looked at Hermina's wonderful eyes, "This looks like the effect of some kind of magic, but it is far more powerful than magic. Magic is mostly short-lived, and this... I don't know how long it will last."

"This should be some kind of magic effect that can make her eyes mimic the 'Dragon Eye'," said Ethran, who was standing by the window, after twitching her hair. "According to Hermi's own description, it seems that she has indeed gained some extraordinary vision."

Joel then turned to look at Etherland, and then asked in a deep voice: "Is this harmful to her?"

Ethran did not speak, which made Joel suspicious. He looked at Eleya again, and Eleya looked at the table beside him. Joel then realized that there was a greasy plate on the table on one side, and there was a thick layer of oil on the plate. It was obviously a kind of greasy food that had just been served, such as fried meat.

"That's the leg flesh covered by the dead war horse last night," said Ethran. "Arev may not be able to eat such a large piece of it so clean."

Then Joel looked at Hemi again, and the girl lowered her head as if she had made a mistake.

"Maybe it was just because the extraordinary vision brought by the mimicry dragon's mind made her body consume more energy, so she increased her appetite." Atherland explained on the side, but Joel didn't understand it too much, so he could only understand it.

"Magic can really consume physical strength." Aleya, who was standing beside her, nodded and affirmed.

Hearing Ethran and Aleya say this, Hemi raised his head and looked at Joel. When Joel saw another sad look on her face, she said in a crying voice: "Mr. Kangting, Sister Simoken, she..."

"I know." Joel replied gentlely, but his heart was like being stolen by a knife. He raised his hand tremblingly, reached out to wipe the corner of the girl's eyes, but there were indeed no tears.

"The temperature of her eyes was also extremely high, which made her tears evaporate before they even flowed down. It seemed that Long would not shed tears. However, this seemed to have no other adverse effects on her body." Atheran, who was on the side, said, "I checked her body before you came. In addition to some abnormalities in her eyes, she also had her body."

"Body?" Joel frowned and looked at Ethran on the side. Ethran also walked to Aleya's side at this moment, then pulled a chair and sat down.

"Her body temperature seems to have increased, but there is no sign of illness. And her body has become better, more sensitive, faster, stronger, and she will grow stronger, but I can't say if this is a good thing." Etherland said softly, "Maybe she should stay. For a long time in the future, Golden Falls will calm down and let her stay here, so that we can observe her condition more so as not to have any accidents."

"If an accident happens, do you have a way to correspond?" Joel asked distrustfully.

"It's hard to say." Etherland honestly said, "but there is always a way to do that guy Anthony is here."

Joel looked at Hemi, she seemed to be immersed in sorrow, she didn't care about what was going on in her body. Joel looked at her for a moment, then looked away, he stood up and asked in a low voice, "Can you still move now?"

"Yeah." Hemi agreed and lifted the quilt covered by himself and stepped onto the floor barefoot.

Joel looked at her and pondered for two seconds, then walked towards the door: "Let's go, let's meet her for the last time."

"Yeah." Hemi followed Joel in a low tone. When Joel opened the door and walked out, Hemi reached out and grabbed his hand.

...

"She's here." Feiyu's tone was also very low. Joel saw confusion and melancholy from his face. Feiyu thought Joel's gaze was really blaming him, so he hurriedly explained: "Because Drake said that only by putting... can he save it well."

"Well, I know." Joel replied in a deep voice, looking down at Hemi. She had not said anything since she entered the cellar. It was pitch black and colder than outside, but Hemi had no complaints about it at all. Joel knew that her eyes could see things clearly in the darkness.

It was probably the first time she saw a rest bag, and Joel thought heavily in his heart. The rest bag is a bag sewn with rags and leather, which can just hold a corpse, and there are various deworming herbs inside. The rest bag itself will be soaked in antiseptic agents.

Generally, only aristocrats with status use rest bags to bury the bodies from the battlefield and go to their hometowns.

Joel was covered in a rest bag. It was just her inside. When Joel thought of this, his heart was cramped.

He was unable to attend Ellu's funeral, but he had to bury Simoken here. She was not Ellu. Joel told himself more than once that he knew Simoken's feelings for him, but he could not respond to her. Until she died for me, I could not do anything for her. I could only stand next to her, who had long lost her body temperature.

Joel could feel Hemi holding his hand and couldn't help but forcefully. He lowered his head and met Hemi's eyes. There was only sadness in the girl's eyes. Although she had no tears, Joel knew that she was crying.

"Let's give her the last trip." Joel let go of Hemi's hand, and the girl nodded to him. Joel picked up Simoken, his movements softly, as if he was afraid of hurting her.

He turned around and walked towards the exit of the cellar with his rest bag in his arms. He walked slowly, and Hemi followed him. The rest bag exuded a strong smell of medicine, and Joel's tears were almost choked.

Ellu, Joel gritted his teeth, Simoken. I have let down two women, Joel can feel his lungs as if they were pressing on stones, they died because I was unable to protect them.

But this is all I can do. Joel stepped up the ladder, and Hemi and the flying fish holding a torch followed him silently.

The wine that Feiyu gave Joel to him burned in his stomach, and his head was dizzy. Joel felt that the footsteps following him were not stopping Hemi and Feiyu. He turned his head, but saw the smiling Simoken, with a smile on her face that broke Joel's heart.

"Sorry..." Joel blurted out involuntarily, his voice hoarse and low, but as if he had used all his strength.

Simoken didn't say anything, but just smiled and shook his head at Joel. She turned her head and looked ahead, and Joel also looked ahead. The top was the exit of the cellar, and the door there was now open, emitting a dazzling light. Joel walked, Simoken followed him quietly, as if he was walking with him.

The tunnel seemed to have become long. Joel raised his head and looked at the exit. A sad mood surged around him, but he could not get close to Ximoken, who was emitting pure light around his body. She followed Joel quietly. Every time Joel took a step, she followed him.

Her companions calmed Joel's heart. She was so light in her arms. Joel only hoped that this period of journey would not end. She shouldn't have been like this. Joel thought sadly that she shouldn't have been like this, and this was not what she deserved. This was unfair.

This is unfair, gods, can you hear it? This is unfair. Joel clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. When he turned his head, he saw Simoken looking at him calmly. Is she crying?

Crystal tears slid down Ximoken's face, which was emitting a glimmer of light. Joel noticed that he had approached the exit at this moment, while Ximoken stood still.

"Mr. Kangting..." Joel heard her voice and his body stiffened. Ximoken wanted to squeeze out a smile, but tears were getting more and more. "Mr. Kangting, please take care of yourself."

Then she looked at Hemi who was standing beside Joel: "Hemi, Hemi... goodbye forever, Hemi, you must live happily, do you know? You...you will listen to your sister, right?"

"Sister..." Hemi took a step towards Ximoken, but Ximoken raised his hand to stop her and told her not to get close to him, and Hemi also stood obediently.

Feiyu, who was standing beside him, looked at the two of them silently, with a look of confusion on his face, but he did not interrupt them. He just looked in the direction they were looking at. Where was she? Feiyu couldn't help but think. Feiyu knew that he was not a brave person. He was very scared of ghosts and other things, and never came into contact with horror themes. But at this moment, when he learned that there was a ghost standing there, he had a more complicated mood than fear.

This is just a game... Feiyu gritted his teeth, then raised his head, trying not to let tears flow out of his eyes. This is just a game. There is nothing to be afraid of, nothing to be afraid of, why are he scared to cry!? Bastard, bastard... Why did I move out of the way at that time?!

"By the way..." Ximoken wiped his tears, then looked at Feiyu beside him, and said sincerely, "Please apologize to Mr. Feiyu. I can't thank him personally, about what he taught me about archery-"

Suddenly Joel noticed that Simoken seemed to be pulled back by something, and Joel froze in place.

"Please, please give me some more time, please, please-"

Simoken was pulled back again, and Joel saw her body begin to fall into the dark cellar. No, no, Joel noticed that she almost flew backwards, as if something had caught her.

Simoken cried and begged and fell into the cellar. Joel almost felt like he had fallen into an ice cellar, and his soul was frozen. Hemi cried and chased after him. The flying fish on the side rushed over, grabbed Joel's shoulder, and asked loudly what had happened to Simoken.

Joel, holding the rest bag, was stiff in place, as if he was frozen.

...

Joel stood beside the pile of firewood, holding a torch in his hand, Hemi stood beside him with his head buried, his body trembling slightly. Flying fish, Ethran, Eleya and Alev were all standing beside them, staring at the firewood and the rest bags that were just placed on it.

Joel handed the torch to Hemi, and then carefully cut the rest bag with a dagger, revealing Simoken's already stiff face. He reached out and stroked her face, but only touched the cold death. His fingers trembled slightly, and then cut them down the rest bag, revealing Simoken's hand.

He reached out and took off the fossil wooden ring he had given her and held it in his hand. I swear, I will find you, I swear in the name of Kang Ting, Ximoken.

Joel swears silently in his heart, then takes the torch from Hemi's hand and ignites the pile of firewood.

The pile of oil poured into flames at the touch. Joel saw Simoken's face engulfed by the flames, and the rest bag was so flammable. The flames rushed up, and Joel took a step back, but Hemi was still standing next to the fire, as if the heat wave had no effect on her.

Joel held the fossil wood ring and placed it in the "backpack" and placed it next to Elu's ring.

Then he raised his head, and Hemi grabbed his hand, and her eyes were always on the flame. Joel faced the flame and let the flame dry the tears and sweat on his face. His hand holding Hemi couldn't help but tighten a little.

...

"What the hell happened?"

After Anthony returned to the mansion of the Iron Chain Knights, he immediately learned that Joel had left with Hemi. His mind, which had been in chaos, was almost aching.

"A lot of things happened." Etherland, who was sitting in the chair, looked exhausted. "He broke the legs of the two players and left with the little girl."

"Wait, why? Why did he attack other players?" Anthony asked, rubbing his temples.

"Because those two guys said to him at the funeral of Simoken, 'Isn't it just a NPC dead?'" Feiyu leaning against the wall said in a low tone, "When I didn't have time to get angry, Mr. Joel rushed over and he knocked down five people, three of them from the Iron Chain Knights. After he broke the legs of the two with a hardwood stick, the rest of our guild pulled out weapons and surrounded him. So he left directly with Hemi."

Anthony was speechless. It took him a long time to swallow the swear words he had on his lips back into his stomach. He didn't know whether to scold Joel or someone else, so he finally decided to bypass this question. "Then he wouldn't leave Golden Falls directly?!" Anthony said almost crazy, "Have he said where he went?!"

"Who knows," said Etherland, who was standing by, shrugging, "but he can't take that little girl back to the northern border, right? I guess he can only go south along the ancient avenue."

"At first, someone wanted to chase after him, but the president stopped him." Feiyu, who was standing beside him, added.

"Why are you so calm?! Didn't I ask you to help take care of Hemi?!" Anthony looked at Etherland in depression and shouted.

"Ha? When can you order me to do things?" Etherland frowned and looked at Anthony, "Besides, I am a craftsman, not a jailer. Do I have to lock that little girl in a bird cage to watch for you?!"

"Okay, stop arguing." Aleya, who was on the side, interrupted their dispute with her brow, then she sighed and said, "Isn't there anything more important to do at the moment?"

"Even so," Anthony scratched his hair irritably, and then sat down next to the table. "That bastard shouldn't have left without saying goodbye!"

"Well, it's over here, and there's no other way except worrying about them," Atherland said, "I've already given the little girl a bag of coins, so that they should be able to travel to the south safely. And I also asked Alev to give him a bottle I made, so you can rest assured."

"Bottle?" Anthony was stunned for a moment, then fell silent again. At this time, he suddenly noticed that the flying fish leaning against the wall was looking at him. He frowned, and the flying fish walked directly to the door.

"Okay, you go out quickly! We're going to rest!" Seeing Feiyu leave, Etherland issued an order to expel guests without hesitation, "I haven't seen it in order to make that thing! From the beginning of the war to now, I'm almost exhausted! Get out of here!"

Anthony didn't say much. He looked at Aleya, and she looked at the view outside the window with her pale blue eyes. So Anthony did not bother him and walked out of the room.

After closing the door, he turned his head and looked at the flying fish waiting for him outside.

"What else?" Anthony frowned, then he immediately turned his head and looked around, then lowered his voice: "Did Joel ask you to say something to me?"

Feiyu nodded.

"Mr. Joel asked me to tell you, 'Please help him check out the 'devil', and I will come back to find him later.'"
