Chapter 6 Dinner (Part 1)

Sir Via's dinner was held in his wooden hall on the towering hills in Lengshi Town. It is called the Spear Hunting Hall, where Sir Spear Hunting of all generations ruled his territory. Although Sir Spear Hunting is not at a high level, his fiefdom is larger than that of all other Southern Jazz fiefs, Lengshi Town, Lengxi Town and Yinsong Town, Lao Wuken Village, which produces winter honey, and several other cold villages, large pine forests near the border of the Principality and large plains at the foot of the Widow Mountains. These belong to Sir Spear Hunting, which also gives him a lot of voice in the north.

The Hunting Hall is old and strong, and its beams are made of a whole thick black iron wood. The cold and heat-resistant paint in the north make this wooden hall still stand on the hills of Lengshi Town under the threat of the ever-destroying fire and torches. The door of the hall is open, and the dinners of northerners will be carried out with the cold wind and warm fire. This is a long-standing custom. There are three long tables in the hall, each of which is enough forty people to sit down. There are stone fireplaces on both sides of the hall, and the flames inside are burning, and servants keep holding them.

The steaming food made from the stone kitchen built by the hunting spear hall was placed on a long table. On the platform deep in the hall, there were three velvet tables, with the highest table in the middle, and behind the table was a heavy black iron-wood chair filled with comfortable and warm fur. Jazz Via's fat body sat upright on it, sitting on both sides of him was his wife and children, and a red-bottomed wool tapestries with hunting spears were hung on the wall behind him. On the left side of the platform, three musicians holding music were playing cheerful music.

Three long tables were filled with soldiers and guards. On the long table in the left hand of Sir Via, there were mercenaries and guards who survived the battle in the ruins of Lengxi Town. The vacant seats were given to Sir Via's servants. The interval between the long tables was very large, with four thick wooden pillars supporting the beams in the middle of the interval. Each pillar was hung with a tapestry that had been smoked and black for many years. It was weaved on it. The battles experienced by Sir Spike Hunting before, and each picture was smoked.

The darkness is different. "After I scatter the snow bandits in my fief, I will also hang a pair!" Sir Via, whose face was red, said with a laugh. His laughter could be heard even outside the hall. In addition, tapestries and heads of various beasts were hung on both sides of the hall. The ornaments were lifelike, including wild boars, mooses, white bears, wild wolves and snow leopards. Their eyes were unmoving and staring at the people who were feasting in the hall and the mist.

Joel was pulled to the Alps to attend the banquet. He originally wanted to go directly to the church located at the other end of the town. The church there was exactly the same as the church in Lengxi Town, but in fact, the underground space of the church in Lengxi Town is much larger than that of the church in Lengxi Town. The nuns, monks and priests of Lengxi Town all live in the town, but Lengshi Town lives underground because the church in Lengshi Town is built on an abandoned mine. After the space in the mine has been renovated, it is for the nuns, monks and priests to live in. Now Hemi is there. Joel thought that he wanted to fly over immediately, but at the same time the fear in his heart was even more intense. Why did the old servant only mention Hemi? Where did Elu go?

With this fear, Joel did not leave the warehouse immediately. He stood there until the Alps came to find him and took him to the Spike Hunting Hall. "Although I don't know what's going on, drinking some wine is always good." Alps said with a cheerful smile, "Although the wine in the game cannot be really intoxicating, it can also simulate that effect!"

Joel looked at the honey wine in the cup in front of him. It was the most common wine in Sir Via's cellar, and his favorite wine. It has a dark honey-like color and the sweet smell of honey, which makes people feel very enjoyable. Joel took a sip, but only tasted the bitterness of his mouth. The table was filled with various foods: freshly baked salty bread and large pieces of fresh butter on the plate; the chopped salted pork, which was brushed with oil and roasted, and served on the plate, with crispy spice powder; stewed soup and a thick layer of cream

Roasted potatoes, onions, turnips, radish, and large cubes of diced meat and ham are floating in the stewed soup. The rich aroma makes people feel full when they smell it; finally there is Sir Via's favorite roasted lamb, three of which are roasted in total, each of which is crispy on the skin and overflowing with oil. A thick layer of honey is spread on it, and the sweet meat aroma is spread throughout the hall. The servants are constantly serving various foods: pumpkin pie, fried meat pie, crispy roasted apples brushed with honey, and honey-pickled peaches transported from the south.

But no matter what, Joel could only eat bitterness, but he had to eat it. He didn't know how long it had been since he ate, so he forgot to even hunger. Now the fragrance of the banquet aroused his appetite, but he couldn't taste it. Even so, he forced himself to eat something. The mercenaries were also feasting: Xiao Qiao's eating appearance was like an iron fist, which made people have to be sincerely amazed; Olaf's eating appearance was also very powerful, but he maintained the minimum etiquette, and the frozen Aleya was more like a noble lady.

The meal etiquette is much better than Sir Via's fat daughter; the other mercenaries drank wine and ate meat, and they were quarreling; even during the banquet, Alps did not take off the iron helmet, he just helped the mask up and exposed his mouth. He kept talking, but kept eating, so that Joel did not hear most of his words clearly. "Don't look at Xiao Qiao, she usually eats very little! Every time she goes out to the restaurant, she doesn't eat meat, and says she is losing weight!" Alps rushes the lamb meat in her mouth with honey wine, and says with a smile.

I don’t know if Elu and Hemi have eaten, what are they eating? Joel thought bitterly, the lives of nuns, monks and priests are very simple, I don’t know how they have been doing this year. Joel kept thinking and took a sip of honey wine. He knew that he was dead. Elu and Hemi must also know that if they saw me... Joel dared not think about it, but if Joel could not see them with his own eyes and make sure their safety, Joel would definitely go crazy.

Alps laughed and filled Joel with a glass of wine, but Joel pushed the half-full cup away. "I don't need it." Joel said, standing up and crossing the bench, "I have something to deal with." After that, Joel ignored Alps' inquiry and left the Spike Hunting Hall. Now Joel only thought about his wife and daughter, Elu and Hemi.

Facing the cold wind blowing towards him, Joel felt that the alcohol on his body was also removed. The door of the Juezha Hall was open, and the threshold was already filled with snow. When he walked out of the door, the warmth of Juezha Hall disappeared behind him. The snow was getting heavier and heavier. The entire Lengshi Town was covered in white snow. The windows of most compact houses were filled with warm fire. The sides of the road were covered with snow. The paving road was covered with salt in advance and was not covered with snow. However, it was slippery and forced to slow down.

Walking down the hill, the cheerful music in the spear hunting hall and the noisy sounds of the people who were feasting were swallowed by the sound of the snow mixed with the sound of the heavy snow. Joel looked up and the sky was pitch black. The church was at the other end of the town, and he just needed to follow the road below to get there. Joel did not meet a few people along the way. Except for the guards who had just changed their posts to rush to hunting the spear hunting hall, they looked at Joel with doubtful eyes, but didn't say much. The heavy snow fell on Joel's brown and golden hair, or on his shoulders, Joel didn't care. An iron lantern was hung at every distance on both sides of the stone paving road. The glass of the iron lantern was frozen at this moment, so that the flames inside became a little hazy and weak, but even so, it was better than walking in the dark.

The road in Lengshi Town is not difficult to walk, it is just long. After coming out of the Jue Hunting Hall, you have to pass through a residential house, followed by the market in Lengshi Town. However, it is already night, and with the snow, the market has closed the door early. The whole market seems lonely and indifferent, and even a bit dilapidated, which makes Joel think he has returned to the market in Lengxi Town. Suddenly, a little sound came from the corner. Joel stood still and looked over, but found that it was a frozen and skinny wild cat. After calling Joel, he got into the night and disappeared.

Continue to move forward, leave the market and pass through a section of residential houses, which are more simple than those in front of them. This is where poor people live. When passing through a bright window, Joel finds a little girl looking at him from inside, and he drives himself to walk quickly.

Then Joel passed through a cemetery, which was an old cemetery. The new cemetery in Lengshi Town was built outside the wall. The old cemetery buried the spear hunter and their relatives of all generations, or some people or heroes who contributed to Lengshi Town. The old cemetery was surrounded by low walls and was covered with winter thorns. This green and almost black-green plant was covered with small blue thorns, which would make the skin red and swollen after being stabbed by them. The old cemetery occupied an unexpectedly large area. The cemetery was brightly lit. There were tombstones in the cemetery and towering tombs. It seemed that the gray and white stones could be seen clearly in the dark night, like a ghost guard standing in a snowy night. Joel did not feel afraid, but felt an inexplicable sense of peace and loneliness. Today, Lengxi Town is also wandering with ghosts, just like this cemetery.

After walking through the edge of the old cemetery, the paving road began to turn into a downhill road. The church square in the distance finally appeared in my eyes. The entire square was immersed in the snowy night. The fruit trees of the twelve abundant goddesses were covered with the back crown of ice and snow. The square made of white stones became even whiter and turned gray and black in the night. The fountains in the middle of the square had long stopped spraying water. The fountains in Lengshi Town were different from the hot spring fountains in Lengxi Town. They sprayed cold water, and they stopped spraying water after the weather turned cold.

Joel then arrived at the church square with a faint light from the street light. The snow did not seem as thick as it looked from afar, but it still could not pass through the heels. The snow on the church square was white and there were no footprints. It seemed that no one would appear here after it snowed. The monks, nuns and priests had their food for winter began to be stored in autumn, and they were transported into the underground reserve room of the church. Until then, they would not come out of the church all the whole winter. The winter in the north was too cold. When it was a blizzard,

The snow was enough to block the church door. There were sparks in the tall church, which were prayer candles. Just above the church gate was a large wooden world tree logo, inlaid with glass, gems and metal of different colors, symbolizing the location of the temples of each god. On both sides of the logo were two different colors of flags, but in the dark night they were almost black. On the left was a gold edge symbolizing the kingdom, a white two-dragon flag on the blue background, a gold edge symbolizing the gods, and a golden world tree flag on the green background.

The church door is closed, but it will not really close. "The gods welcome his believers at any time and listen to their prayers." This is a prayer, and at least the first half is truly useful. Unless war comes, monks, nuns and priests will not latch the door across. Joel stood in front of the door, trying to reach out to push the door, but stopped the moment his hand touched the door. The door was very cold, but Joel lost the courage to push it open.

Where did Ellu go? What would happen to Hermi when she saw herself? Joel found her hands trembling.

"Hey, man, is it okay?" The sudden sound from behind Joel jumped. He turned his head and saw the Alps carrying a lantern and an iron helmet. "Why are you here?" Joel felt that he was being followed, and a rage surged into his head, but he still lowered his voice.

"Hey, hey, relax, man," Alpine raised her hand and signaled Joel to calm down. Of course, he also heard that Joel was angry. At this time, Joel saw an iron lantern in his hand. "It's dark, I'm afraid you will fall down when you walk alone at night, so I gave you a lantern. But I didn't expect you to walk so fast that I couldn't catch up no matter how hard you were." Alpine said and approached Joel and stuffed the iron lantern in his hand into Joel's hand. "If you offend you, I apologize."

Joel looked at the iron lantern in his hand and didn't know what to say. "No, it's okay." Joel's anger disappeared, "I just...I just want to stay alone for a while." Joel didn't know what to say, but he only had no malice. This was not the mercenary's fault, at least it was not the mercenary in front of him. "I have something... to do, it's very important."

"Okay, I understand, I understand." Alps nodded, and then he took a two-step back and turned around. "If you need help, please don't be polite, man. You know, I will definitely stand by your side." Alps waved and left as he said. Joel carried the lantern and watched Alps leave, then turned around, and then he pushed open the door.

The church was quiet, and the sound of prayer was in the spacious hall, with the sharp dome, towering square wooden pillars and rows of wooden chairs, echoing among the candles, the creaking sound of the door opening poured into the empty hall with the cold wind, and the prayer stopped. The deepest part of the church was towering was a real big tree, with pale trunks and dark green leaves. Various colors of glass hanging on it, crystals, gems and metals flashing with candlelight. The branches of the big tree stretched out, and opened the floor-to-ceiling windows originally decorated with painted glass, stretching out in all directions. There were bird houses of various colors hanging on the trees, some were simple and some were luxurious.

The birds live in it, and they are messengers who love the birds. Two circles of interlaced colorful flags are wrapped around the thick trunks. Each flag is a sign of each god: the Lord of the stove, the goddess of fertility, the soaring horse, the noble goddess, the snake of the sword swallowing... No one knows how many gods there are on the World Tree. They bless the world and their believers. But no god will bless the sleepless ones. The sleepless ones refer to the resurrection from the dead. Joel knows this well, death is death, and life is life. They all have their own leaders, each with their own blessings, but resurrection from the dead is blasphemy.

Joel walked into the hall and closed the door behind him. The last cold wind blew into the crack of the door and fell at Joel's feet. Although the outside was much colder than inside, it was not warm inside. The wooden floor was wiped brightly and clean by the nuns and the monks, but Joel couldn't care so much at this moment. He placed the iron lantern in his hand on the wooden table beside him. "Who is it?" A girl's voice came from the depths of the hall, a little hoarse. Joel was not sure if it was Hemi's voice. Hemi's voice was sweeter. She always liked to sing, and neighbors also liked to listen to her singing.

Joel saw two shadows snuggling together on the carpet in front of the big tree, and stood up when he saw the tall shadow in comparison. Elu Joel suppressed his inner excitement. Whether it was stolen or blasphemy, Joel could not care so much at this moment. He wanted to touch Elu's face and wanted to see them again. Joel almost ran over.

The shadow also walked out of the shadow. Joel couldn't wait to meet him, and then he was stunned. She was wearing the nun's white clothes as white as the first snow, covering the color of her hair. Her young and beautiful face was a little puzzled. The color of her eyebrows was snow-gray, but those eyes were green, like the leaves of the sacred tree in the church. Alu's eyes were brown and gentle like a female deer. This was not Alu. The excitement on Joel's face turned into surprise, and he took a step back.

"Are you here to pray?" the nun asked politely.

Joel did not answer. At this time, another petite shadow curled up on the carpet stood up, and she seemed to be covered with a blanket, "Miss Simoken, who is it?" After the petite shadow stood up, she turned around with difficulty. She leaned on a small and light crutch, while tentatively exploring the road ahead, she walked out of the shadow.

Gods are on! Joel almost screamed, it was Hemi. Her snow-gray curly hair was cut short, she was wearing a clean and tidy wool dress, and a faded red wool scarf. Her face was thinner than Joel remembered, and more importantly, her eyes...

"Your...eyes..." Joel only felt a bitterness in his throat, and the sound he made became hoarse, so Hemi didn't hear the familiar voice.
