Chapter 29 The Wizard (1)(1/2)

Kadiya followed Plain and walked towards the Round Hall under the guards' escort. Behind her maid and the old maid in the inner castle, the old maid looked serious, her wrinkled face as cold and hard as a stone sculpture, and the maid's face was pale. She was a young and beautiful girl, who was very kind to Kadiya, and was one of the few people who could tolerate Kadiya's strange temper and stayed to serve her. But at this moment she was going to face the Duke of Jin Falls.

Kadiya lowered her head and looked at Plain's old gray leather boots in front of her. Her face looked quite ugly, and the dark circles made her look much haggard.

"Please forgive me, my lady," said Plain, who was walking in front of him, "Pavre is protecting the Duke in an instant, so I can only pick you up." He didn't like Kadiya, and Kadiya didn't like him either, and both of them knew it.

Plain was in his forties, only a few years younger than Duke Udolph, but he looked much older than Duke. Their relationship was not harmonious, but Plain was considered loyal, while Duke Udolph did not want others to say he was vain and unfair, so Plain finally took up the position of the head of the Neiburg. Kadiya heard from the old servant of Neiburg that Plain was once the entourage of Duke Udolph's brother, the son of a wealthy businessman. He once had a wife, but died of premature birth. Since then, he has been alone and often visited some "small corners" in Jinhu City. Everyone is tacit about these "small corners", but Kadiya is also a little afraid of this old man because of this.

His life was sloppy. The servants said that he was once a handsome young man who was sought after by girls in the city, but after his wife died, he became degenerate. Fortunately, he had not relaxed in his work, otherwise the Duke of Udolf would have driven him out of the inner castle. The servants also said that he had several illegitimate children in the city, but he was afraid that Lord Udolf would have found out, so he sent them to Linle Town, Ed Town, and even Sentinel Town and Black Widow Castle.

He is such a man.

"My good lady, I must tell you that the Duke was very angry when he learned the news." As he said that, he turned around and Kadiya saw that he was not looking at him, but the maid behind him, and the maid also trembled because of his eyes.

"It's not her fault." Kadiya said a little angrily, but her voice sounded hoarse and cold. She was too tired, and the nightmare tortures her all night.

"The Duke will judge, Miss." Plain said and turned around. Kadiya heard the sob sound from the maid behind him.

Kadiya couldn't comfort her because she was also holding back her from trembling, sobbing, and even crying bitterly.

When they came to the Roundhouse, there were guards standing at the door. When they saw Prior coming, they just nodded slightly and shouted "Master General". When Kadiya came over, they lowered their heads and said softly, "My Miss". Kadiya realized that they dared not look at her because they were afraid of showing a look of pity. This made Kadiya's heart ache slightly. She wanted to yell at them, but she was afraid that she could only cry in the end and shame the Plin family.

The door of the circular hall was wide open, and the scene from last night's banquet was still maintained inside. When Kadiya walked into the hall, everyone inside stopped talking. Kadiya saw the half-eat lemon cake falling on the ground, the wine glass was knocked over to the ground, the tablecloth was stained with wine, and the large silver bowl containing berry pudding was knocked down. The bright red patches inside spilled out, and after being left there for a night, it became sparse, like chopped internal organs. Kadiya looked at the food that made her index finger flutter last night, and felt disgusting at this moment.

There were many people standing in the hall, including Lord Fujie and Master Badong. Mudolph in military uniform and fully armed Pavre stood under the duke's throne. When Pavre saw Plain approaching, he nodded slightly to him. Then Plain moved out of the way. Kadiya walked forward, and Pavre immediately knelt on one knee and kissed her hand lightly. Kadiya endured goose bumps all over her body, and trembled slightly and waited for Pavre to finish her salute. Pavre also noticed her abnormality, and Kadiya saw sadness in his eyes.

"My Miss." After Pavre gave his salute, he stood inside, and the eyes of the others were always staring at her, which made her feel unbearable: Although Lord Fujie was amiable, Kadiya could find doubts in his round eyes; Master Badong looked serious and did not hide the indignation on his face when he looked at Kadiya; Mudolph frowned and showed a melancholy look, and when he saw Kadiya look at him, he immediately smiled normally.

Kadiya looked up and saw the duke sitting on the throne. He looked tired and had dark circles and bags of eyes, but his black and blue eyes were filled with stormy anger and sorrow that Kadiya had never seen before. "My child." Kadiya heard his trembling voice, "My child." Then he stretched out his hand.

Kadiya bit her lip and walked up, tremblingly holding his hand. Kadiya felt his hand was very warm.

"Your hands are cold," said the Duke surprisingly gentle, "Are you uncomfortable, my child?"

"No, father." Kadiya's voice was heartbreaking. She didn't dare to say a word, afraid that tears would flow out with the sound.

"Duke," the old maid spoke at this time, and everyone looked at her, "Please forgive me for my transcendence and rudeness, but please let me say something." She is one of the oldest servants in the Neiburg, and has served the Plin family in the Neiburg before the Duke was born.

"Of course." The Duke nodded slightly, then pulled his hand back from Kadiya's hand and nodded slightly to her. So Kadiya walked to Mdolph's side, and her brother kept looking at her and frowned. "I allow you to say it." The Duke's voice was not loud, but everyone could hear it clearly.

"I have checked the lady, she is still innocent, sir." The old servant's words made many people in the hall feel a little relieved.

"Are you sure?" Lord Fujie suddenly asked.

"What do you mean by this sentence, Lord Foger?" Mdolph suddenly raised his voice, and Kadiya was a little surprised. She had never seen her brother so harsh and tough. "Do you think the Duke of Golden Falls would let an elderly old servant deceive his vassal?!"

"Forgive me for being rude, sir," Lord Fowger bowed to the throne of the Duke of Golden Falls, without even looking at Mdolph. "But this is really unbelievable, and I think everyone is as confused as I am."

"Since that assassin is not for the sake of the lady's virginity, why did he sneak into the lady's room and leave quietly?"

Everyone fell silent.

The first one to speak was Mr. Badong, "He is to humiliate us," his voice was cold and majestic. "This kind of crazy man will pull him out even if he digs the ground of Jinshui City three feet!"

"I agree with you," Mr. Fojie nodded and affirmed, "but I just can't understand his 'humiliation method'."

"What the hell do you want to say?" asked the Duke of Golden Waterfalls, his voice calm but contained power.

"Sir, I want to know what the assassin did to the lady." Lord Fujie said respectfully, "He must have had some purpose in sneaking into the lady's room. If this purpose is not the lady's 'virginity', then why? I was confused about this, but I felt that this was something that had to be pursued."

When Kadiya heard them discussing her affairs in this way, she felt ashamed and annoyed, but she didn't have the strength or mood to express her thoughts, and could only stand uneasy, while the others seemed to think she didn't exist.

"So what is your opinion?" asked the Duke again. This time he asked a question patiently. Everyone could see that Lord Fujie was obviously stunned. If he couldn't say anything about it this time, he would be very likely to face the Duke's anger.

Lord Fujie was silent for a few seconds before he spoke: "It's witchcraft, Lord."

Suddenly, a noise broke out in the circular hall, and the guards began to talk in a low voice. Master Badong whispered to "absurdity", and the old maid closed her eyes and began to pray. Pavre stared at Lord Fujie with a serious expression, and the duke's brow frowned.

"Do you have any basis, Lord Fojie?" Mdolph held the slight sword carved with a rolling waterfall on the rasp of the sword at his waist, walked forward and asked after taking a step.

"Is there any basis needed?" Lord Fujie looked at Mdolph, his attitude was obviously different from when he treated the Duke. "Monsters crawled out of the valley, and there were rumors that monsters were wandering in the city, and the wind last night! The gods were on the way, and all the candles in the entire hall were extinguished at once. Isn't this witchcraft? "

"Sir," Plain said at this time, "all the butter candles and oil lamps in the hall were extinguished in an instant. Afterwards, the servants also confirmed that the candles could still be lit. It was obviously not a small way to add something in advance and cause the flame to be extinguished regularly."

"You speak like a scholar." Master Badong commented as he looked at Plain.

"One of my childhood ideals is to become a scholar." Plain responded with his head down slightly.

"You mean," Mdolph continued to look at Lord Foger, "what did the assassin sneak into Kadiya's room and cast her witchcraft?"

"It's very likely," said Lord Fojie bluntly, "Otherwise I really can't think of any other possibility. The assassin could extinguish all the fire in an instant and penetrate into the lady's room under the guard's nose." As he said that, Lord Fojie looked at Pavre, and the guard's captain's face suddenly became ugly, "This has to be said to be incredible."

"Kadia," the Duke spoke, and everyone else immediately shut his mouth. He looked at his daughter, and Kadia shivered slightly, "Do you remember what happened?"

Kadiya shook her head and showed a painful look: "No, I don't remember anything." As she said that, she reached out to hold her forehead, and Mdolph immediately came to her side and looked at her with concern.

Then the Duke finally looked at the maid standing behind the old maid, with pale faces and tears on her face. She also quickly lowered her head because of the Duke's sight, and her body trembled slightly. The Duke frowned and ordered: "Speak out everything you know."

"Yes, yes!" The maid lowered her head, her voice trembling, "Yesterday, last night, the Duke ordered me to take the lady back to the room, and then I did as I did. But, after arriving in the room..." The maid said as she raised her head nervously and looked at Kadiya, but her eyes were discovered by Mdolph.

"As long as you say," Mdolph said to her softly.

"Yes, young master." The maid lowered her head again, "After arriving in the room, Miss Kadiya was worried about the safety of the Duke, so she ordered me to inquire for her, so I left the door of the lady's room..."

The more I spoke, the less my maid's voice became, and her body trembled.

"Speak louder!" Pavre shouted sternly.

"Yes!" The maid immediately raised her voice, but at the same time she sobbed, and tears flowed down her face again. "When I learned the news of the Duke's safety and returned to the front and back of the lady's room, I found that no matter how I called the lady, I did not respond to me, so I entered her room, and I saw... I saw..."

"What did you see?" Master Badong asked loudly. As the lord, he was also a captain, and his voice was even more majestic and louder than Pavre.

"See that assassin!" The maid almost cried, "Because... because... I saw his face when I was in the circular hall, so... I definitely did not admit my mistake! I said the truth! Please forgive me, Lord Duke! I... I... Woo woo woo woo..."

"What?" the Duke asked coldly.

"Then...and then?" The maid seemed to be almost collapsed, but she still tried hard to recall, "and then he jumped down from the lady's window..."

"Nonsense!" Pavre immediately took a step forward, and the sound of the iron boots scared the maid back and almost fell to the ground. "There is an iron bar outside the window of the lady's room. We have also checked it. The iron bar is intact, but you said that the assassin jumped out of the window?!"

"I, I'm right, sir!" The maid knelt on the ground in horror, "That assassin...that assassin turned into smoke, sir! Then he disappeared outside the window!"

Her words once again aroused the exclamation of everyone present.

"Witchcraft! It's witchcraft!" Lord Fujie shouted, and Master Badong, who had cursed "absurdity", had a gloomy face and didn't say anything at this moment.

The noise drowned the circular hall.

"Enough!" The Duke of Golden Waterfalls stopped all the other voices. He finally showed an impatient look on his face, and everyone looked at him, "There is no witchcraft." The Duke announced.

"But sir..." Lord Fujie showed a nervous expression.

"I said enough!" Lord Udolf looked at Lord Fujie, and he said without doubt, "Don't talk about witchcraft anymore!"

Everyone else fell silent, and the Duke looked at the maid again, his eyes cold and ruthless, "It's you," he stretched out a finger, "Maybe you took the assassin to Kadiya's room and let him leave."

"No! Sir!" The maid's crying sounded throughout the Round Hall, "No, Sir! That's not the case!"

"Hang her, this matter ends here." The Duke ordered.

"No! Please! Sir!" the maid knelt on the ground and cried, while the guards walked towards her.

"No! Please don't do this! Sir! Please!"

"Don't get close to me! No! Please, I don't want to die! Please!"

"Miss! Miss Kadiya! Save me! Miss Kadiya! No! Woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo

"No!!!"

The guards grabbed the maid and she struggled, but no matter what, her strength was not as strong as the guards.

"No! Miss! Save me! Please...!!!"

"Shut her up." The Duke closed his eyes and reached out to rub his eyebrows.

"Miss! Please...woo!!"

A guard raised his iron armored fist and hit the maid's face. After a wail, the maid stopped talking, but just started to cry loudly. Blood flowed out of her nose and mouth and dripped onto the stone floor of the circular hall. Everyone present looked away, as long as Mdolph and Pavre watched the guard drag the woman away.

Suddenly Mdolph heard the sister beside him whispering something, "Kadia?" He bent down slightly and looked at her face, "What's wrong, my little sister?"

"No..." Kadiya whispered.

"What?"

"No..." Kadiya shook her head slightly, and her body shook slightly as if she was about to fall asleep. Mdolph immediately supported her, but she immediately broke free. "No! No!" She suddenly shouted loudly, and everyone looked at her.

"No! This is not right!" She looked at her father, "Please don't kill her, father."

After hearing Kadiya's words, the two guards stopped and looked at the duke sitting on the throne blankly.

"Kadia." The Duke did not look at his daughter, but called her name tiredly.

"No, father, this is not right," Kadiya said to him. She was very weak now, as if she could not even realize what she was talking about, but she still said to her father firmly, "You can't treat her like this... You can't treat innocent people like this."

For a long time, the Duke of Udolf didn't say anything, and there was only the maid's sorrowful cry in the hall, but at the end, the Duke sighed a long time, "Forget it." He ordered tiredly, "Please lock her in the dungeon."

"yes!"

After receiving the order, the two guards continued to drag the maid out of the room, and the maid who learned that she did not have to die shouted gratefully: "Thank you! My lady! Thank you! May the gods bless you!"

As the maid was dragged out of the round hall, the others in the hall breathed a sigh of relief from the maid's desperate cry.

"Let's stop here first." The Duke announced that although Lord Fujie and Master Badong were both trying to say something, they respectfully saluted the Duke after looking at each other.
To be continued...
