At 4:40 on July 23, 1993, an air crash fell from the sky. Northwest Airlines flight 2119 from Yinchuan to Beijing fell into Reed Lake at the end of the airport runway when it took off at less than 10 meters. There were 108 passengers and 5 crew members on board, and only 40 people survived.

Wang Jiapeng was a survivor of this air crash. He was only 12 years old and became severely disabled. He was in pain, as if he was suffering in purgatory.
