87. Chernobyl

Time retreated to April 26, 1986, more than 30 years ago, at around 1 a.m., the No. 4 nuclear reactor of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded. More than 8 tons of radiation were mixed with hot graphite fragments and nuclear fuel debris, and the amount of radiation released was equivalent to more than 200 times the amount of radiation explosion of the Hiroshima atomic bomb in Japan in the mid-1940s. The nuclear accident directly polluted more than 200,000 square kilometers of land within a radius of more than 200,000 square kilometers, and about 2 million people were injured, of which more than 500,000 have died, and some are about to die.

According to experts, it will take at least 800 years to completely eliminate the impact of this catastrophe. Despite this, it is amazing that more than ten years after the nuclear accident, the isolation area has become a paradise for wild animals and plants. Wild wolves, wild horses, wild boars and other wild animals often appear, and the red pine forests are growing well. Wild animals and plants have much better ability to adapt to nature than humans. In places without human activities, they live more comfortably. Could it be that wild animals and plants have natural or acquired radiation resistance?
