Chapter 5 Wild Mountains and Temples

After destroying the other five gods who came to take revenge, Chen Mang continued to stay at home.

Under the flower stand, the mottled sunlight shone down. Chen Mang lies on the recliner with his eyes closed, looking like he is about to sleep and wake up.

Xin Shisi Niang was dragging her weak Changyin to study for him: "A friend came from afar, whipped dozens of times, and drove her to the other courtyard..."

Chen Mang suddenly opened his eyes, and a ruler hit Xin Shisi Niang's fox's head, scolding: "What the hell are you reading? Is this what the book is written like?"

A layer of mist appeared in the fox's eyes, and he covered his head with his furry claws, and complained in a low voice: "It's you who took the imperial examination, not me..."

Chen Mang glanced at her and said, "Reading more books will be good for you. The end of the road to cultivation is to understand the truth."

The fox reluctantly pointed his head and was about to continue reading. He suddenly noticed a strange aura approaching, so he quickly put down the book and crawled under the recliner, lying obediently on the ground like an ordinary pet.

At this time, the old butler Afu led Ning Caichen in.

Ning Caichen saw that Chen Mang was the only one in the courtyard and said strangely: "Brother Chen, I seemed to hear someone talking to you just now, but why didn't there be anyone?"

Chen Mang waved his hand indifferently: "I'm talking to myself, Uncle Fu, serve tea."

The butler walked into the room and soon, he walked out with a cup of tea.

Ning Caichen quickly met him, took the teacup and said, "Thank you for your hard work, I will do it myself!"

Uncle Fu pinched the teacup with a stubborn look and refused to let go. He gritted his teeth and said, "I can still do things!"

Ning Caichen was so amused that he had to let him put the teacup on the stone table and watched Uncle Fu return to the front hall with a proud look on his face.

Taking off the lid of the teacup, a few tea sticks floated on the cold water, which made Ning Caichen's face look exciting.

Chen Mang looked at his handsome face wrinkled into a bitter face and couldn't help but laugh: "Uncle Fu is a little confused, afraid that I will drive him out of the house, so he will show off when he comes to the guest to show that he is still useful. Anyway, you are not here to drink tea, just let it go."

Ning Caichen smiled and shook his head, heading straight to the main topic: "Brother Chen, you and me are the only ones participating in the provincial examination this year. I should have gone to Jinling with you to take the exam, but some things were delayed and I couldn't do it. I came to avenge you."

Chen Mang said in surprise: "There are only the two of us, where are the others?"

"Originally, Wang Bing and Fan Jin were going to go, but Fan Jin was injured by his wife and Wang Bing became sick again, so only you and me were left."

Ning Caichen said, and couldn't help laughing: "It's not that I'm gloating, but these two people are too ridiculous. Fan Jin, a scholar, couldn't even control his wife. Wang Bing even called out to the land lady on the sickbed, which made people laugh."

Chen Mang smiled slightly and asked, "What's wrong with you? The scientific examination is a big deal. If you miss the exam period, you will have to wait for another three years."

Ning Caichen said with shame: "I'm not hiding it from Brother Chen, I'm short of money and have not collected all the money to take the exam yet. Fortunately, my relatives have mercy on me and I have given me a bad debt. As long as I take back the money, I can make up enough money to go to the exam."

Chen Mang was slightly stunned and asked, "But go to Guobei County to ask for the account?"

Ning Caichen said in surprise: "How did Brother Chen know?"

Chen Mang sighed slightly: "If I say I give you money, I guess you won't want it either. The bandits in Guobei County are rampant, and it is very dangerous for you to go alone. I will accompany you for a walk."

Ning Caichen said with a complicated expression: "Brother Chen..."

Chen Mang waved his hand: "You just think I'm going out to relax. When will we set off?"

Seeing that the affection was hard to refuse, Ning Caichen said, "It's not too late for this matter. I originally planned to leave today."

"Hold on."

Chen Mang nodded, went into the house to pack two pieces of clothes, and walked out with his treasure chest on his back.

Ning Caichen was so happy that he had Chen Mang accompany him, and suddenly felt a little courage in his heart. He raised his chest and said, "Brother Chen, don't worry, if I meet bandits on the way, I will take care of them all, and I will definitely not let them hurt you!"

Chen Mang glanced at him, and twitched slightly, "Thank you so much."

The two of them went to Ning Caichen's house to get his luggage, set off on their way, and soon left the city.

After eating dry food at noon, they climbed over a hill. At this time, the sky gradually dimmed.

Looking at the setting sunset and the deserted wilderness, Ning Caichen, who was traveling far away for the first time, couldn't help but be confused and asked Chen Mang: "Brother Chen, where are we resting today?"

Chen Mang pointed to the hillside in front and said, "Although this place is deserted, according to the Feng Shui book, it is actually the place where the earth's energy is derived. The temple is hidden in the mountain, which is a good place for building temples. If you are lucky, we can stay in the temple for one night."

Ning Caichen breathed a little relieved, feeling that it was an extremely wise choice to bring Chen Mang out together, and praised him, "Brother Chen is knowledgeable, I might as well be. Let's hurry up and try to get there before dark." As he said that, he walked forward.

Chen Mang followed without any haste. Half an hour later, a temple without even a name appeared in front of the two of them.

When he walked up to him and knocked on the temple gate, an old monk with a gray beard walked out.

The old monk stared at Chen Mang for a while, asked them about the reason, and led them to a monk's house and also made some vegetarian food for them.

Ning Caichen had eaten vegetarian food and took the dishes and chopsticks to go to the well to fetch water and wash it.

Chen Mang waited in the house for a while, and saw that he had not come back for a long time, and went out to search. He found that the old monk was preaching in the hall, and Ning Caichen was listening intently.

In addition to Ning Caichen, there were two men and one woman and three passengers sitting around the old monk, either frightened or suspicious, and listening to the monk's lectures in different expressions.

Chen Mang paused at the door for a moment and heard that the old monk was talking about the "Sutra of Ksitigarbha Sutra", and he couldn't help but have a happy life.

He was familiar with this sutra. When he was in Jinshan Temple, he had been reading the Ksitigarbha Sutra for more than ten years before he was recognized by Ksitigarbha, and Fahai taught him the "The Great Power of the Heavenly Dragon Sutra".

Unfortunately, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva in this world is not the violent boss he is familiar with. Apart from the scriptures, both magic power and breath are completely different from the one he knows.

At this time, the old monk was talking about the retribution of the Abyssinus Hell. He suddenly heard the laughter at the door and couldn't help but look at Chen Mang.

When he saw that it was Chen Mang, he was not angry and said to him: "Amitabha Buddha has defiled the Dharma of the lay Buddhists, and it is my sin."

Chen Mang smiled and said, "Don't scare them. They are from the wilderness. After listening to the eighteen levels of hell you talk about, they may not even dare to sleep. The money for incense is not what you earn."

The old monk laughed and said, "If there is no ghost in his heart, how could he not be able to sleep?" As he said that, he swept his turbid and yellow eyes to the three passengers in front of him with different expressions.

As he finished speaking, a cold wind suddenly poured into the Buddhist temple. The flames of the candle swayed twice and suddenly went out. The entire Buddhist temple suddenly fell into darkness.
