Chapter 14 The Change Conjecture
"Oh, it's you, Professor McGonagall, and -- Porter and Weasley?"
Dumbledore sat on a high-back chair behind his desk, leaning in front of the candlelight to look at the documents. He was wearing snow-white pajamas and a purple-bottomed and gold-clad robe, but looked energetic, staring at Professor McGonagall with sharp blue eyes.
"Professor Dumbledore, Porter just had a nightmare," said Professor McGonagall. "He said—-"
"It's not a nightmare." Harry said immediately.
Professor McGonagall looked back at Harry and frowned slightly.
"Okay, Potter, tell the principal yourself."
"I was sleeping—" Harry said, a little annoyed, despite the horror and urgency that the principal did not look at him, but looked at his crossed fingers, "Okay, it was indeed like a dream, but it was not a dream, it was real. I saw it happening." He took a deep breath, "Ron's father, Mr. Weasley, was bitten by a big snake."
After he finished speaking, these words seemed to echo in the air, a little ridiculous and even ridiculous. Dumbledore leaned back and stared at the ceiling. Ron looked at Harry and then Dumbledore, his face pale and shocked.
"How did you see it?" Dumbledore asked softly, still not looking at Harry.
"I don't know," Harry said a little annoyed, "what does it matter?"
"You misunderstood," Dumbledore said in a calm tone, "I mean?? Do you remember where you were when you saw the attack? Are you standing next to the victim, or are you looking down at the scene from above?"
"I'm that snake," said Harry, "I see it all from the snake's perspective."
Dumbledore closed his eyes.
"Professor, believe me, all I said is true! Mr. Weasley needs help now, and he may die!"
Dumbledore opened his eyes, "I believe you, Potter." His blue eyes stared at Harry through the lens. Harry felt that Dumbledore was not looking at himself, but about something else in him.
Dumbledore said to an old portrait very close to the ceiling: "Evra?" He snapped, "And you, Daris!"
A yellow-faced witch with short black bangs and an old witch with long silver-haired curly hanging in the saliva box next to her immediately opened her eyes. Both of them seemed to be sleeping soundly just now.
"Did you hear it?" Dumbledore asked.
The witch nodded, and the witch said, "Of course."
"The man is red-haired and wearing glasses," Dumbledore said. "Evra, you need to send an alarm to make sure he is discovered by his own people. Daris, please contact Jack Silver and let him come right away."
The two wizards nodded and came out of the picture frame from the side.
“Evra and Dalis are two famous principals of Hogwarts,” Dumbledore said. “They have a lot of portraits, so it’s the most reliable way to ask them to do things.”
"But Mr. Weasley may be anywhere!" said Harry. "And why should Jack Silver be notified?"
"Sit for a while, three," Dumbledore said, as if Harry hadn't spoken, "Evra and Dalis will not come back in a few minutes, Professor McGonagall, can you pull two more chairs?"
Professor McGonagall pulled out his wand from his pocket. He waved it and turned out three chairs. Harry sat down and looked back at Dumbledore. Dumbledore stroked the golden feathers on Fox's head with a finger. The Phoenix woke up immediately, raised his beautiful head and neck, and looked at him with bright black eyes.
"We need a little alarm," Dumbledore said to it softly.
A fire light, the phoenix disappeared.
After a while, footsteps came outside the door, and someone looked and knocked on the door.
"Please come in," Dumbledore said.
"Principal, is there anything wrong with me so late?" Jack Silver didn't seem to wake up. He was rubbing his eyes without any sign of being in his loose pajamas.
"I'm sorry to bother you to rest, Jack," Dumbledore said.
"It's okay, I'm not angry at all, but when Senior Dalis called me, Michael and the others were scared."
Silver himself made a chair and sat down, and brewed himself a cup of strong tea. "I have heard about the general matter. Senior Dalis woke me up and went to look for Mr. Weasley. In short, this matter is very bad. Principal, I'm afraid you have to make another plan."
"This is natural," Dumbledore said, "I want to ask you what you think about this."
Silver waved his wand and a thin smoke floated out of the wand. After a few seconds, a few wisps of light smoke turned into a steady stream of smoke, becoming thicker and thicker, hovering in the air. The top of the smoke turned into a snake's head and its mouth was wide open.
Harry looked at them, completely confused - the smoke snake's heads turned into eight, and the eight snake heads hovered in the dim air, twisting and biting each other, Dumbledore watched the changes in the smoke with a serious expression.
"I got it, Jack."
A shout was heard on the wall on the right, and the witch named Evra had returned to the frame, a little panting.
"Dumbledore!"
"What news?" Dumbledore asked immediately.
"I kept shouting until someone came," said the witch, rubbing her forehead with a curtain, "I heard something moving downstairs--they were half-believing, but they went down to look--you know there was no picture below to look at. In short, they lifted him up a few minutes later. He looked bad, covered in blood."
"Very good," Dumbledore said, Ron twitching, "I think Daris will see him in, and-"
After a while, the witch dragging the silver-haired curly returned to the frame, and she coughed and sat into the leather chair and said, "Yes, they sent him into St. Mungo, Dumbledore. They walked under my portrait and he looked very bad."
"Thank you," Dumbledore said, turning to look at Professor McGonagall.
"Minerva, I need you to wake up the rest of the Weasley children."
"certainly."
Professor McGonagall stood up and walked quickly towards the door. Harry glanced at Ron, who looked scared now.
Dumbledore pointed at Harry and Ron, "Take them to St. Mungo together, this is really cruel to them, I will arrive tomorrow."
Harry and Ron followed Professor McGonagall to leave the principal's office in a daze, but Jack Silver did not stand up. They seemed to have something to say before.

"They have begun to influence each other, the principal."
"But this connection does not appear on other individuals."
"Because their connection is extraordinary and their strengths are too different, it is normal for Porter to be affected."
