Chapter 16 Occlumency

"Potter, you're ten minutes late," Snape said in a sinister voice.

"I'm sorry, professor." Harry Potter said unwillingly.

Snape's lips raised and a sarcastic smile appeared, "Don't be so slutty, Potter, just as you don't want to see me, I don't want to see your annoying face. If it weren't for Dumbledore's instructions, I wouldn't have spent a minute on a stupid person like you."

Snape knocked his desk with his wand, "From today, you will officially learn brain closure from me. I believe Professor McGonagall had already told you before coming here."

"What is brain closure?"

"I just hope you can perform better than you in Potion class, Potter." Snape's eyes narrowed sinisterly, "Although this is not an ordinary teaching, I am still your teacher. At any time, you must say 'sir' or 'professor' first. Do you understand, Potter? I think the injury on your arm should not be completely well. Remember the lesson Umbridge gave you."

Potter only felt the arm on the hand hurt again, and a feeling of depression surged in his heart.

"Professor Snape, what is brain closure?"

"It's really frustrating. I heard that Dark Magic Defense or your advantageous subject?" Snape looked at Harry Potter with contempt. "Brain closure, any third-grade wizard should know. This is a magic used to protect your brain from spying, and it is also a very important Dark Magic Defense. Of course, I heard that Lupin taught you the patron spell, and he might think that you can only put such things in your brain and can't learn more."

"Why did Professor Dumbledore think I need it, sir?" Harry looked straight into Snape's cold black eyes.

Snape glared at him for a moment and said contemptuously: "Even you should figure it out now. Potter? The Dark Lord is extremely good at capturing God and seeking thoughts. A wizard like you can't stop him from searching for memories in your brain."

"What does that mean, sir?"

"It is the magic of extracting feelings and memories from another person's mind."

"Can he read minds?" Harry asked immediately, feeling a chill in his heart. Voldemort could peek into the secrets in his heart!

"You didn't even care about attending class, Potter," said Snape, his dark eyes flashing coldly.

"You don't understand the subtle difference, and it's one of the reasons why you make the potion so bad."

Snape paused for a while, apparently savoring the pleasure of insulting Harry. Then he continued: "Only Muggles speak of the stupid saying of 'mind reading'. The human heart is not a book and cannot be read at will. The thought is not engraved in the head, and people cannot be read. The human heart is a complex, multi-level thing."

Snape looked at Harry Potter with contempt, "At least, most people's minds are like this."

"However, people who can take the divine mind can study other people's minds in certain situations and make correct explanations. For example, the Dark King can almost always see others lying to him. Only those who are good at brain closure can block feelings and memories that are contradictory to lies and lie in front of him without being discovered."

No matter what Snape said, taking God's mindfulness still sounds like a mind-reading technique to Harry. He is still very worried.

"Then can he know what we are thinking now? Sir?"

"The Dark King is very far away from here. Hogwarts' courtyard walls and venues are protected by many ancient spells, ensuring the physical and mental safety of the school staff." Snape said, "Time and space have an impact on magic. Potter's eye contact is often very critical to the capture of God."

"Then why do I still have to learn brain closure?"

Snape glanced at Harry and touched his mouth with a slender finger.

"The routine doesn't seem to apply to you, Potter. The spell that failed to kill you seems to have established some connection between you and the Dark Lord. Signs suggest that sometimes, when your mind is the most relaxed and vulnerable - like in a sleep, you can sense the Dark Lord's thoughts and emotions. The principal thinks that he should not let it go, and he wants me to teach you how to close your mind to the Dark Lord."

"But why did Professor Dumbledore stop him?" he asked suddenly. "Although I don't like this feeling very much, it's very useful. I mean, I saw the snake attacking Mr. Weasley, otherwise Professor Dumbledore might not be able to save him, right? Mr.?"

Snape looked at Harry for a while, still touching his mouth with his fingers, and then slowly spoke, as if he was considering every word.

"Potter, I have lowered my requirements as much as possible, but I find that I have overestimated your IQ." He stood up and paced back and forth in the office. "It is obvious that the Black Devil had never noticed this connection between you and him before. Before that, it seemed that you could sense his emotions and thoughts, but he didn't know it. But your dream-"

"Mr. Weasley and the Snake?"

"Don't interrupt me, Potter," Snape said fiercely, "I said, your dream has invaded the mind of the Black Devil so seriously-"

"I'm in the snake's mind, not his!"

"I think I just said don't interrupt me, Potter!"

"What I perceive is the thought of the snake, not Voldemort's thought!"

"Don't say the Dark Lord's name!" Snape shouted. "You idiot!"

After a moment of embarrassing silence, they glared at each other.

"Professor Dumbledore also said his name," Harry whispered.

"Dumbledore is a powerful wizard," said Snape gloomy. "He can't hide the name, but others say that the Dark Lord's name is just seeking death. Potter, you can't even be a qualified wizard, but you want to have the temper of a powerful wizard?"

"I just want to know," Harry tried his best to keep his tone polite, "Why!"

"Potter, don't you understand yet? The Dark King is also attached to the snake's body, and he has discovered you!"

"How do you know?" Harry asked hurriedly, "is this just Professor Dumbledore's guess, or-?"

"I said," Snape sat in the chair, his eyes almost spitting out anger, "Call me sir."

"Yes, sir," Harry said impatiently, "but how do you know-"

"I know it's enough." Snape said sternly, "Your simple brain and unprepared mind are vulnerable to the Dark Lord! He can sneak into your dreams at any time, and even manipulate you in turn! Potter, do you think you, like Dumbledore, are a powerful wizard who is evenly matched with the Dark Lord?"

Snape finished speaking as if he was venting, and slowly sarcastically said, "Last school year, you escaped from Voldemort by relying on Silver. Maybe after I learned brain closure, you still have to go to Silver's black magic defense tutoring class to make up for it?"
