Chapter 16 Felicity

"Okay," Slughorn returned to the front of the classroom, thrusting his already bulging chest forward again, and the buttons on the vest were about to burst out.

"This is our first lesson. I have prepared several potions to open your eyes - you definitely can't make such potions now. But if you are really talented, you might be able to successfully make one or two of them after completing the entire improvement class."

Slughorn blinked slyly, "So who can tell me what kind of potion is this?"

He pointed to the cauldron closest to Slytherin's table, which looked like a pot of water was rolling.

Hermione's trained hand was lifted up first. Slughorn pointed at her.

"It's a real spit, a colorless, odorless potion that forces the person who drinks it to tell the truth," said Hermione.

"Very good, very good!" said Slughorn happily.

"Now," he continued to point to the cauldron closest to Ravenclaw's table, "this is more common-"

Hermione's hand was lifted up again.

"It's Compound Decoction, sir." she said.

"That's great, great! And the like...you say, dear?" Slughorn said, and he looked a little surprised when he saw Hermione's hand rise again.

"It's a ecstasy agent!"

"It's good at all. It seems that there is no need to ask." Slughorn showed sincere admiration at this time and said, "This kind of potion is still very rare. Since you can recognize it, then I think you must know what it is for?"

"It is the most effective love potion in the world!" said Hermione.

"Very right! Dear, can you tell me your name?" Slughorn asked. He seemed very happy.

"Hermione Granger, sir."

"Hermione Granger, are you related to Hetok Dagworth Granger, the founder of the Extraordinary Pharmacist Association?" Slughorn seemed very curious.

"No, probably not, sir. I'm from a Muggle," Hermione said cheerfully.

On Slytherin's table, Malfoy whispered something, and the Slytherin's laughed secretly. Silver cast warning eyes at them.

Slughorn did not show any disappointment. Instead, he smiled. He looked at Hermione and then at Silver sitting beside her.

"Jack, you didn't tell me last time that you knew such a beautiful and intelligent lady."

"It is because of this that I can't show off everywhere," Silver said.

Hermione blushed.

"Well said, Jack. Very good, very good, add a well-deserved twenty to Miss Granger of Gryffindor," said Slughorn kindly.

Malfoy's face looked ugly now, as if someone punched him.

"Now," Slughorn said, "After knowing these three potions, we should start class."

"Sir, you haven't told us what's here yet." Ernie McMillan said, pointing to a small black cauldron on the Slughorn's podium. The potion inside the cauldron was splashing happily, and its color was like melted gold. Large drops of liquid jumping on the surface, like goldfish, but no drop was spilled outside.

"Huh!" Slughorn said again, "By the way, that kind hasn't been said yet. Ladies and gentlemen. That thing is the most peculiar little potion, called Fuling agent. I think." He turned around and looked at Hermione who screamed in surprise. "You must know what Fuling agent has, Miss Granger?"

"It's a lucky potion," Hermione said excitedly, "it will bring you good luck!"

The whole class seemed to straighten his back.

"Very right, add ten more to Gryffindor. Yes, this is a strange little potion, the Fortunate," said Slughorn. "It's very complicated to cook, and if you make a mistake, the consequences will be unimaginable. However, if you cook it, just like in this crucible, you will find that you will succeed no matter what you do...at least before the effect disappears."

"Then why don't people drink it all day, sir?" Ron asked anxiously.

"Because this is not a big potion like a sleepy potion, Weasley." Silver said, but Slughorn was not angry at all for Silver to interrupt.

"Jack, do you have anything to tell us about Fuling?" Slughorn asked with a smile.

"It's very difficult to make this potion." Silver's voice was very stable, as if he had nothing to do with him. "First of all, the raw materials of this potion are very rare and expensive, and ordinary wizards cannot get so many precious ingredients. Secondly, as Professor Slughorn said, the boiling process is very complicated. If it is not cooked properly, there will be very terrible consequences - the maker may be unlucky for a week or even longer. There was an unlucky guy who messed up this potion for decades because of the difficulty and danger of boiling the potion, the Extraordinary Pharmacist Association listed the production of the Fuling Agent as an important part of the Potion Master's Assessment."

"That's great, Jack," Slughorn clapped, "I'm going to add thirty to you."

"So have you taken Fuling agents, sir?" Michael Conner asked in great interest.

"I have only taken it twice in my life. As Jack said, it is very troublesome to boil the Fuling agent, and I rarely make this potion." Slughorn said, "Once at the age of twenty-four and the other at the age of fifty-seven. I took two spoons at breakfast. Those two days were so perfect."

He stared at the distance in a daze. His expression aroused the emotions of the whole class.

"Well," Slughorn said, as if he had returned to reality, "I will be the prize for this class."

The classroom was silent, and every bubbling sound of the surrounding potions seemed to have amplified ten times. The students were staring at the small crucible and thinking about how long these Fuling agents could last.

Professor Slughorn funnyly made a move to protect the small black crucible. "Oh, kids. This is not possible. These are all my stocks, so I can't give them all to you."

"The prize is this, a small bottle of good spirits," Slughorn took out a small glass bottle with a block from his pocket and held it for the whole class to show it. "It can bring twelve hours of good luck. From dawn to dark, no matter what you do, everything will go well, and the stars will shine."

The students lamented and seemed very disappointed.

"Jack, tell them how much this small bottle of Fuling agent is worth."

"The Fuling agent is prohibited from being traded, and even in the underground black market, there are very few transactions of Fuling agents." Silver lengthened his voice, "But I think many people are willing to pay a thousand Gallons to buy it."
